The 2 available spots for our Palo ressies were taken by KikiKaren.

I'm going to be off the boards today. From the way the posting is going this morning, I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do this evening. I'm going to be in our conference room all day for a few days learning about JavaServer Faces. Another thing to add to the resume.

I haven't forgotten.....but then, I didn't just get new glasses....
There's Virgil, Kevin, Gus, Biff (Mark...is that YOU??), Jim, Skinny and GarRy
Back: Paul, Ken, Jay (but he was too shy to sign his name ;) ) Cary, another shy one, Mike (didn't sign either) and Joe. The one that's half hidden...I used a magnifying glass...it's signed "Heinrich"....honest...do you suppose that's LeiLani's husband Rich?? And on mine, Charlotte's husband John signed one, too.

I can help you out there, the hidden one (aka Wilson) would be my DH, Henrik.

Have a great day all!

We're doing fine this morning. The tornados hit Springfield, which is about 50 miles west of us, and then tracked 35 miles to the north of us. It was still too close. We were glued to the tv where 1 of the 3 local stations was off the air, one had lost its rooftop satellite. The Springfield and Decatur stations were on the air with constant weather info from 7:50 until after 11:00 last night. Another round of storms went through aroung 3:30 this morning, but no tornados with that one. Still made me get out of bed to check the local stations for weather updates. I guess we should dig out our weather radio.

Glad that you are ok,,,,,,,wheew - Mary was so right aout your storms....Take care today!

When you have an onboard credit - what does it apply to? Everything? Reservatins? Drinks? Palo Fees? Spa? Hair Salon??? Gift shop???

The post about spa massages made me wonder? Thanks...

DCL is basically cashless. You can't even buy a light up spinny toy during a deck party with cash! You can use your KTTW card for everythig...Palo, tips, spa, gift shop, drinks, whatever.

Then, if you have an onboard credit for some reason, they take that out first before charging your credit card.

For example, you spend $850 on "stuff"
You have a $200 onboard credit.
Your VISA (or whatever) will be billed $650.

Good Morning All

I just read the posts since Saturday. A lot has been happening.

Way to go to all the athletes out there.

What happens in St. Marten stays in St. Marten
I remember my first dcl cruise - eastern- orient beach, saw quite a bit more than I had expected.

gaRry, lots of good wishes are being sent your way and there is a bag of hershey chocolates with your name on it. :tink:

Help!! anyone who has had the good fortune to swim with the stingrays, please tell me what to expect. I will be taking DN- Nick. Sue doesn't want to do that. So I am the next best thing. :fish:

Mother Nature at her worst with the weather in Illinois and Missouri.

Everyone take care today.

DH is home from work today recovering from being sick all weekend. At least he doesn't mind if I sit and DIS for awhile. I guess I should make an effort to clean something in the house today to prove to him that it does happen once in a while :rotfl2: :rotfl: .

Glad you checked in and are safe and sound :thumbsup2

Those middle-of-the-night storms scare me more than anything. Glad those weren't as severe as the earlier ones. You had a good idea - get the weather radio out; I'm changing the batteries in our's.

Hi Liz! Are you doing the stingray swim at Castaway Cay? I think that is a controlled environment, designed so that younger kids won't be frightened. For instance, they've set up a way so that when you feed the rays, they don't actually touch your hand. Very different from the snorkel excursion at Grand Cayman, where they are wild and there are lots of them.

Irene, I didn't realize that you are a first timer. Another thing you can use an onboard credit for, the wine package. I don't think we've really gotten into this (though we beat it to death on the 10 day thread), but if you take your own wine to dinner, you may be charged a $15 corkage fee. Hence, Jim's decanter idea. It worked for him, but I think he bribed his server, not sure. Anyway, the wine package has two tiers, decent wines and better wines, and you get a bottle every night with dinner. I know Banfi is in the "better wine" package and Fairytale Cuvee is in one of them too. It's supposed to save 25% off the price of individual bottles, if they're still doing it!

Something to think about if you don't want to haul wine. Or if your wine doesn't merit the big corkage fee. We took a few bottles in the $35 range, for instance a Heitz cab, so we figured it was worth it.

Anyone know where to find current information on the wine packages? Prices, and the wine choices?

We did the stingray encounter and it is not scary. The stingrays are fed by swimming onto a plastic feeder, where you get to pet them or feed them. They do not converge in you in the water. You can swim with them, in the enclosed lagoon, if you can keep up, which is hard...Maybe Ashely with her swimming talents??? Anyway, it is not like the more "scary" experiences I have heard about some other tours. Hope this helps..

Not a first timer - a first time credit user. November was with DVC points, so no creddits. Our first cruise only gave us credit for what we purchased in the gift shop, if over $75. BUT all the purchases had to be made on one day, which I did not know....

We have the wine list package from November. I will scan it at home and send tomorrow.l If I forget, please remind me... :wave2:

Thanks, Sue... I knew you had told us that somewhere before, but I was too lazy to sift through all the posts since then...

Dilemma... I REALLY want to be able to eat at Palo, (hence my snagging Angie's gracious offer), but I also want our family to be able to have formal night dinner together... On the other hand... If the kids aren't going to dinner on formal night, I don't need to buy Christopher a new suit, and Ray won't need to bring his tux. (But Elizabeth also won't have the opportunity to wear her 'birthday present'.) What to do, what to do?

We've done the wine package before. Mostly out of convenience. It is overpriced even though they tell you it's discounted off of their regular prices. For example, the Fess Parker chardonnay, DCL style is $38 a bottle on the wine package. At the Andersons, it's $16.99. But you have to haul it.

On this last cruise we brought a couple of bottles and my dad brought the rest (mostly his homemade stuff) The first night we poured the bottle into 4 glasses and carried those down to dinner. The asst. server got to talking to my dad about his homemade wine and my dad asked if he could accept a bottle of it as a gift. The asst. server said yes. From that point asst. server said "just uncork the bottle in your room and bring it down with you. I will pour it for you every night." Dad gave him a bottle of wine (which he drank THAT NIGHT and loved) and dad promised to send a bottle with us on the double dip cruise. That asst server won't be there, but will be back shortly after and our head server said he'd "babysit" the wine for him until he got back. :)

So no corkage fee for us! Just a bribe. :)

Elizabeth can wear her birthday present on another night. Maybe semi-formal....and she'll put the rest of us to shame! :)
