Do you like dark chocolate? That's "good" for you! Lots of antioxidants! yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)
Of course she does! and medium chocolate and light chocolate. Lets' just say "chocolate"!!!

If you're going to stick to a story, then that is a good one!! :teeth:

REALLY!?!?!? I know there was a St. Lucia disclaimer that you couldn't donate, but Mary did after the 10 day and they said it was ok b/c she didn't stay there overnight. ??? hmmm...maybe I'll ask them tomorrow.

Study? I was just being a goof-ball. My dad would always stuff like "don't bother me, I'm studying for my urine test." or something goofy like that....

I do know that I have post blood donation plans...My parents are coming down (delivering my fire ring and the 99 bottle wine rack my dad made for me) and we're all going out to LONGHORN for dinner. Gotta replace those red blood cells, eh??

Karen - actually when they called for me to donate after the 10 day I asked if getting the bug bite was a problem. They came back and said I couldn't donate for a year. Not because of the bug bite but just because I got off the ship. I think it was someone else who was able to donate. I guess different blood banks have different rules.

They just called me yesterday to donate again (I did in early January after the year ban was up) but I had to put them off for a couple of months. The last time I tried to donate real close to the last time I got sick so I'm giving myself a couple of more months. Then I'll donate in May knowing that it will be another year after that.

Well, that's how my brain works! Confused your situation with someone else. THanks for clearning that up!! And thanks, again, for the buttons or I'd never get anything right. :lmao: :lmao:

I was going to post this on the W.I.S.H. board but think I'll post here too.

I read in the latest "Family Circle" magazine that those people that had a glass of alcohol with dinner were less likely to be overweight than those who did not. The reason was because it may deter your urge to eat a 2nd helping of food. So Diana, go ahead and have that glass of wine with dinner.

I wonder if it's worth calling them and saying "in the past year I've been to the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Martin." I'm donating 30 minutes away (at my church) so there is no point in driving all the way in there if they'll turn me away for that! Hmmmmm.......

The front came through last night. 50 mph winds. Trash cans and lids are all over the yard. The kid's slide is "on" the middle of the pool (sitting on the cover) Got some clean up work to do today.

I've got to study today..... I'm donating blood tomorrow fir the first time in about 15 yrs (the last two times didn't go well, so I quit--one I passed out, the other I *almost* did) I'm one of the rarer blood types so I shouldn't hog it all to myself, right?

We're getting your "wind" today. All kinds of warnings going around. Thanks for the warning...they aren't kidding. I will make sure all garbage cans are away and small children are inside. :lmao:

Laura, Okay you used to live in Cobb County (Lassiter Area), which is where I live now. You also have a line below you name that says wants to dine with Kansas. What's that mean? I grew up in Kansas, and was wondering the significance of the line under your name. Did you used to live there too? Susan

Hi, Susan! :wave2: The Kansas reference under my name was given to me by a "tag fairy" after last October's Food & Wine Festival at Epcot!!! It's a long story, but it has to do with the 70's group *Kansas*. We saw them dining at Biergarten before their performance that evening. (that's the condensed version!) :woohoo:

In-Depth Discussion of Malaria and Blood Donation

Malaria is a blood infection caused by a parasite that can be transmitted from a donor to a patient through transfusion. It is possible to have a new infection with malaria but have no symptoms, even though the parasite is present in your blood. It is also possible to feel well, but have a very mild case of malaria, especially if you have lived for extended periods of time in parts of the world where malaria is found.

The Centers for Disease Control and Protection keep track of the locations with malaria for international travelers from the United States, and this information is available on their web site at http://www.cdc.gov. There is risk of malaria in some parts of Mexico. In the Caribbean, malaria is found only in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The countries that have NO malaria risk in any area are as follows, listed alphabetically:
Albania, Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua/Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Azores, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Bermuda, Boznia/Herzegovina, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Canary Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Christmas Island, Cook Islands, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Diego Garcia Islands, Dominica, England, Estonia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland (Northern and Republic of), Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madeira, Maldives, Malta, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montserrat, Nauru, Netherlands, Netherland Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Northern Mariana Islands, Norway, Pacific Islands, Palau, Pitcairn Islands, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Reunion, Romania, Russia, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Saint Pierre, Saint Vincent, Samoa, San Marino, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tokelau, Tonga, Trinidad/Tobago, Tunisia, Turks/Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Virgin Islands, Wake Island, and Yugoslavia.

Blood donations are not tested for malaria. Therefore, it is important that people who may have malaria or been exposed to malaria because of living in, or traveling to, a country where malaria is present not be allowed to donate blood until enough time has passed to be certain that they are not infected with malaria. This is done by having a waiting period for those who lived in, move from, or traveled to, the locations with malaria. If you have traveled outside of the United States, your travel destinations will be reviewed to see if you were in a malaria-risk area. It would be most helpful if you came prepared to report the country and city or destinations to which you traveled, as well as the travel dates.

I want to know who gets to go on the cruise! Either way, go Lisa! Irene, Mom doesn't drink Banfi, which means more for Dad.

This Mom drinks Banfi though! And I've got some in the cooler. Alicia hasn't had a competition lately, but I might pull one out this weekend anyway. Problem is, then I will want chocolate.

John brought home a bottle last night and a bar of Ghiradelli (sp) dark chocolate - oh boy! :thumbsup2

I am definitely over-stepping my bounds on this....but I'm going to do it, because I know a lot of you would want to know this.

Garry was supposed to meet with the transplant committee on June 26th, then it was moved forward to June 12th. Now it has been moved waaay up.

He will have his meeting with the transplant team to get the ball rolling on Monday, March 20th.

Continued prayers and PIXIE DUST...it's working! He's a few months ahead of the game now!!

Great minds think alike - I'm glad you did, I was just about to ask if there were updates...

and a top - with Gary and Stacey and the transplant team! :woohoo:

I am embarrassed  to admit it, but I STILL have the unopened bottle of Banfi that the Scuba's brought us at our Christmas party (thanks again)... I have been waiting for the perfect chocolate to open it... now I have the perfect chocolate too, as Ray ordered truffles from my friend (the chocolatier in NH) for my birthday... too bad Ray and I haven't both been home at the same time to enjoy it... so the truffles AND the Banfi are still waiting patiently... maybe tonight we'll actually get to enjoy them!!!!

So, if you split a bottle of banfi with your husband, how does that rank? :rotfl2:

I was up to 7 gallons before the Red Cross changed the rules and told me that I couldn't donate any longer because I lived in Europe for more than 6 months since 1980. They think I might have mad cow disease. I'm not sure that I'd donate again even if they change the rules back. I might check out the local plasma center, though. They'd even pay me for donating. Why didn't I think of that before. More cruise money!

oh wow - what a great friend to have - a chocolatier! hmmm, does he/she need any focus groups or quality testers? researchers" - heck I'd even volunteer for kitchen clean up if I got to lick the bowl and the spoon :lmao:

Good morning..again.

Cruise question!!!!

I know that you are designated to a restaurant for dinner, but what about breakfast? Do you go to a different place each day or is there just one restaurant that's open for breakfast? Or, is it just the buffet?

Thanks.

And...if I'm early seating, what time are we designated for breakfast?
5am!!

Not really! Breakfast and lunch are anytime (within serving times) that you want! You might want to order room service and sit out on the veranda and enjoy the morning. We love that!! Eating a muffin and coffee.
