Which brings up another question. Where do you put these rather valuable items while you're diving? Do you leave them on the boat, trusting the driver not to decide to take the good stuff and leave you there? Kevin could probably answer this, but he's gone on pick up duty.

By the time I post this I'm sure Kevin will have already answered, but I'll give you mine anyways.

I have two choices, leave them on the boat or take them with me and get them wet. I leave them on the boat. If I can't trust the ship's crew to not go through my stuff and ripe me off......I can't trust them to be there when I come out of the water. We have bigger issue then. We only dive with solid operations with good reputations.

Besides, we are on a boat. When I get my tip money I will notice something is missing and it's got to be on the boat.

I didn't mean ALONE alone. I meant alone without someone capable of saving people/etc. like dive masters and instructors- that type of thing. Garry already told me they've only dove for a couple of years- that's the same as Jeff! I meant out there with divers same as himself without a more experienced diver/instructor... not completely alone! LOL

Sorry, but I need to point something out.

Every diver is responsible for themselves. It is a dangerous sport. The DMs are not life guards. When a diver jumps into the water they need to have the skills necessary to handle an emergency situation for the conditions of that dive. They can not rely on a DM. The DM will try to assist, but they are not responsible for each and every person. Yes, it is nice to have a DM on dives, but everyone must dive within their level of training and experience.

This is one of the top rules of diving.....know your abilities and dive within them. This is why Matt and I dive frequently, to keep our skills up to date.

Good morning cruisers!

Happy Tuesday!

Maria - I've had those nights before - they aren't fun.

Jim - as always very good insights on diving.

So True! So True!!

Diving can be dangerous and if you "count on" someone else to make decisions for you as a diver then you're asking for trouble! Nobody should ever do a "trust me" dive. That's where training and experience can make the difference.

Dive often and the skills (buoyancy, trim, navigation and stress management) are honed. Air consumption will go down and the general sense of well being will be much better.

All that said; Coz is one of the most laid back dive locales on the planet! Conditions are phenomenal and the DMs experienced. :thumbsup2

:sad1: I'm home! Got back Sunday afternoon. I will get Jeanne on the bus and then catch up on the seating arrangements.

Maria - Sue is going to contact the same person Stacey used with the early dining list. I believe the plan is to be on the same rotation and location as late dining. At least that is what we did on the 10 day.

Dude... I don't think y'all understand my concerns. My husband can dive- but here in Texas in the area we are he doesn't dive with SHARKS possible in the area. Digging my fears now? I was thinking more along the lines of someone familiar with the area, able to say (in dive speak/body language/whatever) let's get the heck outta here if sharks are circling- that type of thing. I'm not concerned about the actual diving- my husband is certified for diving AND rescue... if it's that type of thing going on with inexperienced divers HE can help with that. I'm just afraid of where he's at and what's out there WITH him.. oh and someone with the company in the water too so he doesn't get left aka like the movie I watched that the couple got left in the water (based on true story and heard of more cases of this happening after that). Cause you see, I won't be on the boat to say hey dude... my husband ain't on here when they head back to shore. Digging me now? That's all I meant. :)

There has to be SOME reason that y'all said they always have someone go with them- that's the same reason I was freaking when I thought you were saying they don't go in the water with them. LOL That's all...

ps. wdwgoose don't go telling my husband what a worrywart I'm being about this. LOL Well he probably already knows but don't tell him that you know because it will embarrass him I bet. LOL

Besides, we are on a boat. When I get my tip money I will notice something is missing and it's got to be on the boat.
That's what I was thinking too. Besides the fact that you're trusting them not to leave you too (as you also mentioned)- there's the fact that they can't really say someone else stole your stuff when you're out on a boat and they are the only ones with access to your items. Won't get them many referrals (nada) if you surface to find your money and valuables are missing.

Aren't there waterproof dive boxes or something for those that want to take their paper valuables and money with them if they want? I thought Jeff had one of those.....

OH and another ps. thank y'all for putting up with worrywart Shelley on this diving business. I appreciate it! Really would prefer he didn't have this hobby :rolleyes1 but I don't get my way on this one. LOL

Welcome Back Sue:welcome: How was the cruise?:sail:

I sent you a PM with dining info. Let me know if you receive it.

The Ron Jon Resort is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend it to anyone as long as you can spend time there. The water park is large, clean, well laid out. Everyone was friendly. Our 2br was clean and very nice. And we were able to see Magic come in at @ 4:30am from the hall balcony in the resort. Dinner at the resort was as good, maybe better, than any meal we had on Magic. The service was excellent and the restaurant was nice, tropical decor. We paid $250 for a 2br and we spent Friday afternoon in the pool area, so it was an expensive swim!
