Ohh....forgot to tell you all that I never did tell my kids about our trip....things arent going well at work, and we just decided to hold off on telling them until final payment is due and we know for sure that we are going...but we did let MIL know about her trip in 3 weeks and she was ecstatic...she did not get it at first. Her first gift was a Disney Holidays calender (get it?)
100_7489.jpg

the next was her box of clues. There was a Gilligans Island DVD (castaways) and Popeye (the SAILORMan) DVD (sorry Stace acan you believe I could not find a box of CraxkerJacks??), A Disney word find, a WONDER ball ( I looked for the Disney ones and could not find one, I finally had to settle for the Nickelodeon version) Ocean Breeze body wash, Sparkling Water Air Freshner, A dolphin shaped car freshner scented in breezy water scent, some gummis shaped as various sea life...

You can tell in this next picture she is not so sure of the kind os son and DIL she has??!!? LOL
100_7493.jpg

After all of that she was STILL confused. The next package was the replica of the Magic that my dear friend NJ Cruisers picked up for me....still no clue!
100_7495.jpg

Then the final package was a notebook folder that said "Jackpot" on the front.... get it?? LOL Inside the pocket was our navigators from our September cruise, the mailing that DCL sent us about the changes at CC, and the new little packet they send out about excursions. Inside that packet was a 5x8 photo of the Wonder docked in CC that I had taken. I fixed the back up, to resemble a post card. I said something like this
" Dear Steve ( DH's name)
Amanda, CJ, Nate and I are having a blast on board the Disney Wonder! I wish you all were here! The next 4 days are going to be great!
Love Momma"
And it was "dated" for 01/22/2006 they day we embark....

At this point she was shaking but you could tell she still wasnt quite sure of what was going on! LOL Finally a light bulb clicked over her head and she started crying! She could not believe it! LOL She said at first she thought we were giving her mementos of our cruise! LOL Dont let the picture over the face fool ya she was crying underneath!

Amanda, I hope things work out for you at work. We want to have you on this cruise.

Glad to hear that your MIL was totally surprised and excited about her trip.

Ang

Ang mine is self cleaning also, but it is kind of old. Anytime I have tried to use the self cleaning, the oven locks up and gets so hot the only way to open it is to turn the main breaker to my house off in order to turn off the oven! So it is just easier to do it the old fashioned way.

Happy New Year Everyone!
(and a top to bootpirate:)

Went to church this morning and the pastor had a really good sermon. He told us that those of us in church this morning are the only ones with the possibiliy of perfect attendance in 2006. I thought that was terribly funny and laughed out loud.

Well, looks like everyone has finally gotten over the stomach flu. Charley is now sick with bronchitas and we are hoping the doctor's office will be open tomorrow. He sounds terrible. Our little dog got sick yesterday and I had to take him to the animal emergency room. That was a nice little price tag. But I know that if we had waited until the vet's office opened, he would have been in bad shape. He had a abcess on a gland. Our little dog always seems to get sick when the regular vets are closed. he is doing lots better. He messed up our New Years Eve plans. we were going to go to an early movie and dinner with the kids, but really didn't want to leave him alone for any length of time.

I am ready for everyone to get over being sick. It has not been fun with everyone being sick.

Have a great year everyone!

Amanda - so glad to see you back. Have fun on your cruise with your mom!

Good Evening!

Had our traditional New Year's Day celebration with two other families - the kids were at one house with a babysitter and we were at our house. Our traditional menua has been honed to perfection over the years. John makes campechana - a seafood salsa; One friend (from Natchitoches, LA) brings gumbo but, no meat pies this year. katrina and rita made them hard to get... :sad1: and the 3rd family brings bread pudding...yum!

We always get together to watch the Rose bowl - this year, we watched the toliet bowl - the Houston/SF game...Just wasn't the same...Hopefully, the rain will hold off during the parade.

Amanda, I'm so glad you shared your Christmas pictures with us - what a wonderful way to suprise her!!

Stacey - what a great picture!!! oh, You and Jordan look nice too!!!

Stacey,
That captain doesn't even look old enough to drive a CAR, much less a SHIP! I prefer an older, more experienced captain behind the "wheel" of my cruise ship. But I will admit, he looks like he has a lot more personality than a lot of the DCL captains I've sailed with!

Well, second apology went out to my brother tonight. I'm sure he'll hate it because I mentioned "God" in it. He is about the most intolerant "tolerant" person I know. What is it about tolerance? Why do they not tolerate the intolerant? :rotfl2: I'll tell ya though, I'm sick of apologizing for my part in the argument and having him continue it. I need to just keep saying "I apologized and until you forgive me and we move on, then the problem is YOURS!" ;) Ugh...family. DCL take me away.

Too bad my cruise clothes don't fit....again! :( (sigh)

Mr. Murphy does have a way of rearing his ugly head doesn't he??

Hope everything works out! :grouphug:

Stacey -- glad to see your report on Cozumel. Did you hear anything about Chankanaab. We have the royal swim booked and I have been debating on whether I should just go ahead and cancel it. I have heard that the dolphin discovery area was completely devastated.

Sorry I missed this before, Pam. I'll have to go back and look at the shore excursion listings that they gave us on the ship. I know some of the offerings for Cozumel had been canceled, not sure which ones. But I'll look at them and let you know.
The only thing I can say, is that they are working hard at getting all of their "tourist-related" businesses up and running as quickly as possible. I am betting that they will be back 100% by May. They won't have the pier done, but I think everything else on the island should be coming along nicely. And if they continue to get rain, the "green" will be back, too.

Happy New Year!!!
Sorry I'm a little late. We had 14 for lunch/dinner yesterday(it's 4:00am Monday, can't sleep) and it was a FULL day. Especially after partying up the street with neighbors til 1:30am. I can't figure out why I'm awake, but I figured while I was, I'll check in. Can't believe we only have 21 weeks till we all meet.

I can't believe it...are we the only ones that actually made it til New Years? We don't go OUT for New Years, but we do hang out at one of the neighbor's house every year. One of the guys is always holding a movie camera and he does an annual montage of the past year's fun. Boy, we spend way too much time together. There's about 7 families that are really tight. Kids all get along as well as parents. LOVE my neighborhood, that's one big reason we added onto the house instead of moving.

Speaking of additions...the new kitchen(actually the entire house) got a full work-out for Christmas and New Years. Love the double ovens and the open floor plan. Very conducive for entertaining. I'm in heaven!!!! I'm a happy woman.

I won't be a "happy" woman if I don't at least TRY to get some sleep. I'll check in later.

My new laptop is coming on Wednesday. I can't wait. Guess I gotta get my wireless router hooked up beforehand.

TTFN,

Maria

I just got caught up on yesterday's postings and realized that everyone had an exciting day like ours....we finished Lisa's social studies project. :cool1:

To celebrate Matt went to the batting cages while Lisa and I played putt-putt. It was just too exciting (I beat her by one stroke). :)

Some people celebrate Boxing Day.....today we celebrate Pajama Day. We have been doing chores all weekend, but today is sit and watch bowl games and parades and eat junk food while staying in our pajamas as long as we can. I'm wondering if Sharon will change before driving Lisa to the gym. :confused3

This is the first and last weekend we will be home for a while so we are going to enjoy this one day to do nothing. Matthew is making breakfast (when he gets up so it could be lunch) and Sharon makes lunch (which could be dinner) . I don't have to cook today. Yesterday I made the Cheese Soup from Canada. It was excallent and easy. Served it in bread bowls. Try it.

While eating we made a list of all the things we did for 2005. It was pretty long especailly when putting down all our DIS meets. We meet with DISers more in 2005 than with our families. I guess that makes it a really good year!!!

After making the list we watched our 2005 videos to see what we forgot. We started by watching of our 2004 Christmas cruise. It was great fun watching Stacey and Minnie Mouse, seeing Bear dressed up for Christmas, KT sleeping at dinner, Matt enjoying filet from Palos.....
Have a good day and hope you enjoy Pajama Day. :rotfl2:

Welcome to my world. You an now join the Early Morning East Coast Posters Club. You know it is bad when you are posting at the same time Stacey is. :flower:

Good morning, Jim. Stacey's up too? That would be around 2:00am for her? Is she in MT or PTime?

I hate waking up like this. It makes the next day just ugly for me(it's a visual). It's the kids' last day home before school starts again. YEAH!!! I'm getting a little tired of being the entertainment committee. And all the usual stuff, like laundry, etc. gets put at the waistside.

I will try to go downstairs and lay down on the couch. A little Tylenol will help. My DH will be getting up in less than 1 hour for work. UGH!!! :faint: :crazy2: Give me strength.

I better get going. The couch is calling my name. Have a great day.

Maria

Good morning cruisers!

Happy Monday!

I like the sound of pajama day. Mark has to go to work, but I'm home. I think I will get changed but hopefully will spend most of the day doing scrapbooking.

Good Morning All - Pam, I hope your dog is feeling better! And what does 'clean your oven' mean, is it like 'iron your clothes'?

Hi, Everyone ~

One of my resolutions is to try to catch up and get to know the people we'll be cruising with in May by reading this thread more faithfully. I know I can't go back and read everything that's been written so far, so I'll just jump in again.

We're looking forward to our May cruise! In the meantime, we're taking our DD-5 to WDW in two weeks. This will be her first trip there (we haven't told her yet) and our first time back in many, many years.

We've been reading books and the disboards but if any of you have a special suggestion for us, we'd love to hear it!

I broke some bones in my foot on Thanksgiving weekend so I'm still hobbling around. I may have to rent a wheelchair at the parks if I don't get more mobile by the 15th. My greatest fear is that people will think I'm renting the wheelchair just to cut in line. :earsgirl: Maybe I should have the doctor put a cast on my foot so I look more authentically injured. ;)

Well, Happy New Year to all of you. May you each have love, health and peace in 2006!

Sharon

Welcome back and Happy New Year. If no one else has posted - I'd recommend the wheelchair - with or without the extra cast!!!!! It is a lot of walking. I badly tore my foot this past March and tried to walk without the crutches. Trust me, this was not a good idea....I'd rather had had a few stares....

Take care and have fun....
