After doing more research and asking the wholesaler at least 20 questions, I went ahead and put the deposit down! We're in the DCL system so I can breathe now!!!

We finally made the decision on what we are doing for Christmas this year. After spending the last three Christmas's on DCL we wanted to try something different.

We waited until 90 days out and started looking. It came down to: Cruise (Sharon's choice), a horse/dude ranch in GA, or several days at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando (ice).

We will be spending Christmas at Southern Cross Ranch in GA. This will be a trip that we will all remember, especially if it is cold. Sharon won't let us forget it.

It's the nicest place I could find so Sharon should be happy. The kids will have horses and Matt will have buffets.

What more can they ask for? Oh, two rooms with ours having the 4 poster bed, whirlpool, and fireplace.

That sounds nice. So when do you guys leave for that?? Guess you won't have to set up the Christmas once again!!

Laura, I generally buy our travel insurance right before we make the final payment. We're sure we're going by then. Best rates are through Travelguard or Travelex online.

The kids are excited about setting up the tree this year. They are planning on doing it over Thanksgiving.....while Sharon and I are in Grand Cayman. Grandma and Grandpa get to help them this year.

See the great lengths Sharon will go to avoid putting up the tree!

Angie's 'get well' Mickey-gram arrived on 10.14 according to FedEx... so she MUST know we're thinking about her!!!

Hope all is well with everyone else... it's off to Tommy Bahama's for dinner for me in a few minutes... spent 3 hours this morning in meetings, then spent the entire day in a 'meeting' with my boss and a coworker... poolside next to the ocean on Longboat Key. (Tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.) Tomorrow will be more of the same.... don't know if I can stand it... . (And I do feel this little pang of guilt, as Ray has a super-busy 'event week' at work, AND has the kids to deal with 24/7) But, it will be payback when he's in Miami for work for 8 days, and I'm home with the kids.

Amanda - have you spoken with her hubby lately. I sure hope her pain has lessened.

Here is Scoopie at Epcot at the Botswana, Africa pavillion. He loved the watering hole and the stories and the dancing. How do I make the picture larger, but not the size it wants to be which is huge?

Word of caution if I can weigh in on this.....and I am by no means an expert, so I would check with the insurance carriers....

It may depend on why you buy travel insurance as to when you purchase it. I was reading a thread on this and here are some hints.

For those of us who buy travel insurance because of caring for a senior, if there is a chance that the senior may become ill between now and when you purchase insurance, then the insurance may not apply to this pre-existing condition, (at the time the insurance is purchased.) This happened to a DISER and there is a thread posted on this. In other words, his mother became ill with cancer, and then he wanted the insurance in case she was very sick come travel time - nope, insurance said pre-existing condition. So he was faced with canceling and getting the deposit back or hoping she was fine. I might add, she was not traveling with them.

If, it is just the standard bad bug, then you may wish to wait. We never worried until my Mother became older and while she is healthy - any little thing now could cause a larger 'down time" than previously, so we opt to buy it when we buy the tickets.

It is like Vegas, they are assuming you will never use it ($$$$$ to them). Unfortunately, you are betting you will use it....

So, I'd ask questions....

The picture shows to be 160 x 106 pixels. Using your image software, adjust the original to about 300 or so wide, save it by another name and then post the adjusted one. Use the lock, or constrain proportions to keep the perspective the same. I like that size as it's not to big, but still shows the details.
