You are SOOO right Hon!! All dive trips are fun!!
We had a great time. The local guy that went with me hadn't been on a vacation for over five years. It did him good but, we jammed in lots of activities in over the days.
Thursday; We did our dives in the morning off Boca Raton. Lots of wind and it pushed the seas upwards of 5' - 9' with some 12' thrown in for good luck. Was fun being on the surface, waiting to be picked up by the boat. Wheee! just like a Disney ride!! Since the seas were so heavy we cancelled the pm dives and headed over to the Ft. Lauderdale Museum of Art. The King Tut exhibit was in town, and it was marvoluos!! It's amazing what those folks did with stone and gold waaaaayyyyy back then!!
Later on that evening, we caught a Panther/Redwing hockey game. My first time watching pro hockey. Not bad!
Drive down to Key Largo on Friday and met up with Jim and Matt! Got in two great dives. The ocean was flat and the diving good for the USS Spiegel Grove and a shallower later dive.
Saturday, the winds picked up a bit and added a bit of motion to the dive boat, much to Irene's chagrin!! The City of Washington wreak had some nurse sharks that were pretty friendly and a large grouper that wanted to pose for pictures. The 4' barracuda was hanging around at at the end of the dive to play with Jim and Matt and their "rubber torpedo"!! Pretty cool!! We thought he was going for it a couple of times.
We cancelled the afternoon dives to rest up for the night dive. Night dive on the Benwood, a 1890 wreck in about 30' of water. The parrot fish come and nestle in the exposed ribs of the wreck to sleep for the night. Cool to see each rib of the ship holding a 2' long parrot fish!!
Sunday, the schedule called for a three tank dive that included the USS Duane. Like Jim mentioned, it was fantastic visibility and NO current. We said our goodbyes to Sam and Irene as they had to get back. We thank you for the wine!!
Monday, we got in a couple of more dives, once more on the Spiegel and Frenches Reef!
The weather was very cooperative with temps in the low 80's. A big change from the 30° I woke up to this morning at home!!!
OK, now back to work........
