General Reply about snorkeling and Seahorse Catamaran Adventure....

Thanks for all the tips....this is for our trip in November, so it would not be a downer after diving in Mexico, but still could be a downer after diving in St. Thomas. And the trip takes ½ day, which would not allow time for much feasting and frolicking in Serenity Bay.

Mary gave me a great itinerary for Castaway Key - which we will alter, as we need to do much "laundry" at the TikiHut....But snorkel the trails in the am....head to lunch....head to adult beach....snorkel off the beach....head to rainforest room...sigh...is it November yet?

Sorry Virgil, we will have to get your information on the trip elsewhere. I'll ask our November cruisers.

Karen, I'm so sorry!

Thanks. It was really tough driving into work this morning... about 300 yds before our office is the FHP office... which has a sign posted out front keeping a running tally of traffic fatalities in the county... it only went up by 1 this weekend... it was just so eerie knowing who that 1 was... then to pull into our parking lot to see our flag at half staff... its gonna be a long day.

(And making it even longer is the fact that the repair guys are FINALLY here to fix our damaged metal awning right outside my office door... damaged during Hurricane Charley... nothing like the sound of heavy duty drilling into aluminum to brighten my day!!)

So post away... I'll need a diversion today!!!! (Actually, I'll probably go out on the road today, just to get away from the NOISE!!!!)

Good Morning All!

Had a great time in Chicago. It was a rare treat, flying up by myself. John still thinks he got the better end of the deal - staying home with the kids instead of being dragged to a h.s. reunion. Saturday night was my 20th H.S. reunion. No big suprises, the girls still look basically the same, the guys are old, fat and balding...It got old reciting vital statistics by the end of the night - married, 2 kids, work part time...

Went with my parents, SIL, and my childhood friend to see Wicked on Sunday, that was really good. It was nice being able to spend time with my parents. Did stop to see the in-laws and was able to see my SIL's baby - now 7 months.

On a downer side, my mom was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with stage 2 breast cancer...She's going next Friday for the lumpectomy & biopsy. Then at least 6 weeks of 5x/week radiation, possibly chemo depending on the biopsy. It's a contained lump so, she's in good spirits...Just overwhelmed by the information being thrown at her. Typical mom, didn't want to ruin my weekend so, she waited to tell me until Sunday night...Also typical mom, it's a secret (so I'm blabbing to the DISers...) - she and my dad are handling all of this themselves, she won't tell extended family or friends until after it's all over...Doesn't want a fuss or to be a part of the gossip mill - her name for the prayer chain at their church...

Welcome to our new cruisers - glad you could join us!!! Another DS pre-teen!!! :cool1:

gaRy - since I wasn't on the 10 day - don't know if I'm qualified to say "Welcome Back" - but, since everyone made a huge fuss - I'm sure there's some good stories involved!!!

Finished up the posts - Wish I could do laundry like the rest of you did this weekend - gonna have to pay attention close attention from now on to which laundry is being discussed laundry, laundry :earboy2: , or Laundry :rolleyes1

Virgil,

That was my dining room that I posted a while back. Our rooms do look similar. Great taste!!!

Angie

Monica, your Mom will be on the DIS prayer chain, anyway.

Mary, very cool! Nice dinner invitation, even better that it was at Palo. Bet you got great service!

Kiki, I think a day out of the office is in order. yeah.

Monica- Praying for your mom, your family, and her entire support network. I hope that you can convince her to lean on her family and friends when necessary... (but I know how Mom's can be...)

For those that haven't met GarRy...

He's a nice, regular guy. He just posts like a maniac. Oh, and he likes to play practical jokes.

So Watch OUT!!!!

I can see the workers out my window... I just watched one of them fall off the ladder while holding the drill... this could be interesting.

Supposedly, the 'real' noise won't start til tomorrow when they put the panels on... guess that's the bright side (if there is one) of us being closed for the Memorial Service tomorrow.

Only an hour and a half til lunch...

Our house guests (evacuees) were leaving this morning to head back to Slidell, LA. They are getting reports that power is being restored. But, there is still no drinkable water. People have told them that if they do go back to make sure they have a gun. That's sort of scary! They may be back in a few days.

Finally talked to my best friend last night. She is in Houston temporarily. Her company has "relocated" them there. I use the term relocated loosely. The company is paying for her hotel but that's it... and that's supposedly only for 15 days. She doesn't make a lot of money so is having a hard time making ends meet. She's now having to pay parking in downtown Houston, eating out 3 times a day (which can get VERY expensive), paying increased gas prices, etc. Part of me really feels sorry for her but part of me doesn't. She's never been in the best financial situation - she's almost 40, never been married, lives at home with her parents and still lives paycheck-to-paycheck. She accumulated large amounts of credit card debt YEARS ago and is still trying to dig herself out. It doesn't help that she still uses the darn things!!! Her car and all of her things at her mom's house were fine. Anyway ... off my soapbox now ... she's going to be separated from her family and boyfriend for who knows how long. Her BF is relocating to Baton Rouge temporarily. They were to take a trip to WDW at the end of this month. That is now being cancelled.

Angie

Diana,

Do I remember right, are you the one who is hooked on sudukos? While up in Chicago, I got hooked! They started in the Chicago Tribune on Friday, it was a very easy puzzle - it took me about 15 minutes to complete...Sunday's puzzle was a "tough" puzzle - I'm still not done. We're laughing about Monday's supposed "gentle" puzzle - I started at 9:00 and finally finished at 7:00pm... We decided "gentle" - stands for a reminder to gently erase or there will be holes in the paper... My girlfriend decided to try it since she saw me working on the puzzles all weekend - and we ended up fighting over the big eraser..multiple pages of graph paper, and the pencil sharpener...

We developed a system of red felt tip marker for the permenent numbers...a colored pencil for the numbers that are right by default and then regular pencil for the rest... Can you tell we're a bit obsessed?

Have her check parking - at least early last week - parking in certain places was free for LA residents...Many churches and/or Red Cross shelters are providing meals for those who are relocated...That may help a bit with expenses...

Sorry Kikipug - but check this out...11:00 advisory.....
