I know that there is a real shortage of qualified workers, but falling off the ladder............. :rotfl2:

Well- when you've got a cordless drill in one hand, a cigarette in the other, and you're climbing a ladder thats propped against a 4" post, you're an accident waiting to happen. And you wonder why it's taken this company 13 months to get out here to fix our awning that blew away with Hurricane Charley???? They probably have to keep hiring new employees after the workmen's comp claims kick in...

FINALLY got an email from my company saying that they'd be matching hurricane relief donations up to a total of $250,000. We are allowed to give to a number of "recognized" organizations. The company will donate the matching funds to The Red Cross. Well, you would know that I wrote a check on Sunday at Mass. The check was written to our local church and to be sent to Catholic Charities (one of the recognized organizations). I hope there is some way to prove that I donated so that my funds can be matched!

Almost time to go get the girls. Can't wait to find out if they had dance today. Ashley was soooo excited about bringing her leotard, tights, ballet & taps shoes to day care today.

Hopefully we can go enjoy the outdoors when we get home. The weather was BEAUTIFUL today ... I didn't even have to use the a/c in the car at lunch ... just rolled down the windows ... NICE!!!

I would agree that he does post like a maniac, but he is very particular to whom he will play practical jokes - like the 7 days of Wonder Alicia "won".
He definately can't spell but he is relatively harmless :dog2:

for those that aren't aware I'm the DW
THAT was a "classic" !! When I heard that I almost wet myself!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Of course, it helps when the joke subject doesn't wake up for at least an hour after getting up!! :rolleyes1

Angie is that something you pay extra for at the day care? That's a nice service! Of course, you will pay more when they get older. Recital costumes are $75 a pop this year, and so far Alicia has six classes.

Yep, it was me. I bought a couple of books, one stays in the car for waiting for the kid. You need to go for it, use an ink pen! Just write the "possible" numbers tiny, and on the edges. Not so pretty, oh well.

:worship:
I'm a crossword-in-pen type person - I'm sure it'll be a while before I do these fully in pen...

CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY! Or should that be Tide?

Megan came up from the guest house (yes, they're still here) to have brunch before work. No big deal, except that I'm not used to the door opening during the day. Had her lunch, and left for work. She had only been gone 10 minutes when the front door opened and I heard her say "Mom? Can you take me to the Emergency Room?"

Ahhh, yes....the words that every Mom loves to hear.

She had driven down to the creek, and apparently some big truck had gone through and knocked one of the huge rocks into the crossing....because of all the other debris, she couldn't go around it, or over it, so she got out to move it and slipped in the mud. Fell on the knee that already has torn ligaments....scraped herself up and bruised her pride.
She's an M.A......she knows as well as I do that there's nothing they can do. Just needed a little TLC. Got her all cleaned up, bandaged, wrapped and off to work an hour late. Her muddy clothes are in the dryer now.

Fun fun fun at my house....always!!

So where's my laundry?? :drinking: :drinking1 :drinking1

Glad she is ok. Sam and I may need to do a load of laundry for you. Working yesterday and today for big client presentation that just was cancelled for tomorrow....not relishing driving in the stormy weather, so that is ok and it will be reset, which is ok for business....but I was on a roll...

Now I can post. Or go home and do laundry!!!!

Yes, it's something that we pay extra for at day care. This will be Emily's 3rd year and Ashley's first. So, we have 2 recital costumes already sitting in Emily's closet. Those, too, were $75 each!!! OUCH! A LOT of money for 2 hours of wear. I'm sure they don't get the best dance instruction but the kids enjoy it. And it's nice not to have to cart them around town after getting off of work.

Typically the recital is the Sun. of the weekend after Memorial weekend. So, if next year is the same, we'll be getting off the Magic to head home for a dance recital the next day!

Perhaps some one can explain this - quotes taken from AP.

Refco Group Inc. oil analyst Marshall Steeves said the drop in wholesale gasoline prices "will take time to filter down."

NEW YORK — The gradual recovery of some Gulf Coast petroleum operations hobbled by Hurricane Katrina helped send oil futures sharply lower on Tuesday and analysts predicted that pump prices, now averaging more than $3 a gallon, would decline slightly.

They can rise over night but it takes time for them to drop????

Gasoline futures plunged by 12.87 cents to settle at $2.055 a gallon on Nymex on Tuesday, but that still leaves them up about 7 percent since Aug. 26, before Katrina struck. The Energy Department said late Tuesday that the retail price of unleaded gasoline skyrocketed by 45.9 cents last week to average $3.069 nationwide, a new record. That puts pump prices $1.219 a gallon above last year.

I should be thankful the repairs are being made - so important to the infrastructure, jobs and recovery of the Gulf Coast region.

He's not one of our employees, thank goodness. The rain has scared them away for the rest of the day, I think. Are you out in the Jeep today??

Funny. I almost drove the Jeep today since it has starting to cool down and then I remembered that Ohiominnie has been in Florida. She is here for 2 weeks so you can count on plenty of rain.

Oh... ok... so we blame her for this mess that's headed our way...

You actually think they have workers comp? With employees like that they can't afford it. This is probably a sub contractor doing the work and they don't have WC. The contractor does, but he really does not care if the subs do.

Not so true any more. We are Subs...and required by all of our contractors to carry our own liability and worker's comp. And sometimes, we hav to add the contractor as additional insured....that's a rip off.

I was thinking he looked in a window, saw Kiki, and was so awed by her beauty that he fell off!!

Actually, with the mirrored windows on our building, he thinks he got away without being seen... he can't tell that there's someone 2 feet beyond the glass.

At least once a month, a bird thinks that my window is the only 'hole' cut clear through the building, with a bird flying straight at him in the other direction... scares the crap out of me every time it happens!!!!!!!! On occasion, I've gotten into work in the mornings, and found feathers stuck to my window. SPLATTTT!
