Good Morning All!

Had a great time in Chicago. It was a rare treat, flying up by myself. John still thinks he got the better end of the deal - staying home with the kids instead of being dragged to a h.s. reunion. Saturday night was my 20th H.S. reunion. No big suprises, the girls still look basically the same, the guys are old, fat and balding...It got old reciting vital statistics by the end of the night - married, 2 kids, work part time...

Went with my parents, SIL, and my childhood friend to see Wicked on Sunday, that was really good. It was nice being able to spend time with my parents. Did stop to see the in-laws and was able to see my SIL's baby - now 7 months.

On a downer side, my mom was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago with stage 2 breast cancer...She's going next Friday for the lumpectomy & biopsy. Then at least 6 weeks of 5x/week radiation, possibly chemo depending on the biopsy. It's a contained lump so, she's in good spirits...Just overwhelmed by the information being thrown at her. Typical mom, didn't want to ruin my weekend so, she waited to tell me until Sunday night...Also typical mom, it's a secret (so I'm blabbing to the DISers...) - she and my dad are handling all of this themselves, she won't tell extended family or friends until after it's all over...Doesn't want a fuss or to be a part of the gossip mill - her name for the prayer chain at their church...

Monica - so sorry to hear about your Mom....lots of prayers will go your way.. However, they are doing remarkable recoveries for breast cancer. I have a Race For the Cure contribution form on my desk from a professional friend. I had not decided if I would contribute, and this made up my mind. - and I will request your Mom be added to her list. Race is in Tampa. PM me with what you would like your mom to be called...

Our house guests (evacuees) were leaving this morning to head back to Slidell, LA. They are getting reports that power is being restored. But, there is still no drinkable water. People have told them that if they do go back to make sure they have a gun. That's sort of scary! They may be back in a few days.

BEST OF LUCK TO THEM...KEEP US POSTED.

Finally talked to my best friend last night. She is in Houston temporarily...... eating out 3 times a day

ANGIE - THIS IS A TIP I LEARNED FROM COMMUNTING 6 DAYS A WEEK TO WASHINGTON DC AND ELSEWHERE....ALTHOUGH IT IS ONLY FOR 15 DAYS....THINK THAT YOU ARE CAMPING. AND THEN PLAN ACCORDINGLY. I WAS AMAZED AT WHAT I SAVED AS I WAS ON A PITIFUL PER DIEM.

I WOULD TAKE A TRIP TO THE GROCERY STORE AND STOCK UP ON BREAKFAST ITEMS. ICE IN A THE HOTEL ICE COOLER WILL KEEP MILK FRESH AND JUICE DOES NOT NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED. WHEN WORKING, LUNCH WAS OUT BUT YOU CAN KEEP BREAD, CANNED SANDWICH SPREAD AND/OR PEANUT BUTTER WITHOUT REFRIGERATION. DINNER CAN BE TAKE-OUT WITH YOUR OWN WINE, INSTEAD OF AT A RESTURANT. AND EVEN A DISPOSABLE COOLER CHEST CAN SAVE $$$. I HAD A COFFEE POT, BUT IF NOT, THOSE PUG IN ONES ARE CHEAP. THIS ALLOWED ME TO OCCASIONALLY ADD FRESH FLOWERS TO THE GROCERY LIST WHICH WERE AN ADDED TREAT.

HOPE IT HELPS....

For those that haven't met GarRy...

He's a nice, regular guy. He just posts like a maniac. Oh, and he likes to play practical jokes.

So Watch OUT!!!!

I would agree that he does post like a maniac, but he is very particular to whom he will play practical jokes - like the 7 days of Wonder Alicia "won".
He definately can't spell but he is relatively harmless :dog2:

for those that aren't aware I'm the DW

Diana,

Do I remember right, are you the one who is hooked on sudukos? While up in Chicago, I got hooked! They started in the Chicago Tribune on Friday, it was a very easy puzzle - it took me about 15 minutes to complete...Sunday's puzzle was a "tough" puzzle - I'm still not done. We're laughing about Monday's supposed "gentle" puzzle - I started at 9:00 and finally finished at 7:00pm... We decided "gentle" - stands for a reminder to gently erase or there will be holes in the paper... My girlfriend decided to try it since she saw me working on the puzzles all weekend - and we ended up fighting over the big eraser..multiple pages of graph paper, and the pencil sharpener...

We developed a system of red felt tip marker for the permenent numbers...a colored pencil for the numbers that are right by default and then regular pencil for the rest... Can you tell we're a bit obsessed?

Yep, it was me. I bought a couple of books, one stays in the car for waiting for the kid. You need to go for it, use an ink pen! Just write the "possible" numbers tiny, and on the edges. Not so pretty, oh well.

I can see the workers out my window... I just watched one of them fall off the ladder while holding the drill... this could be interesting.

Did he do some product sampling before heading up the ladder? :rotfl:

He's not one of our employees, thank goodness. The rain has scared them away for the rest of the day, I think. Are you out in the Jeep today??

Sorry Kikipug - but check this out...11:00 advisory.....

Yes... we know... our insurance agent is already working to get our policy signed off on today... apparently, as long as its 'signed and sealed', we may be all set. Let's hope the weather cooperates, though...

Wow, they're already up to TS Nate. What happens when they run out of letters?

That's when we just start calling them by names you can't type on the DIS...

Can you post a picture of those some day?

I'll go over and take a picture today, if the customer hasn't picked them up already.

I'm waiting by the phone for the doctor's office to call me back. They are really irrtating me lately. When you call for an appointment, you have to leave a message. I don't know if they wait until lunch to listen to them, or what. What if the call is URGENT?? :headache:

Good Morning All - Stacey I can't imagine how scary that was with Jared. Hope dr gives him a good going over. And can't we share gaRry! You had him last cruise. Mary what was the great news you would tell us this am.

Sue

Okay....I'll make a deal with you....YOU can have him for early seating.....if I can come and have coffee & dessert with you!

Monica, sooo sorry to hear about your mom....will pray here too. My mom never wanted to be added to their prayer chain either. She thought that should be "saved for people who need it more" PLEASE! Best wishes to her!

Doctor's office called. I had to assert myself....and NO..I don't do that often. They said they could get Jared in with the female PA tomorrow....I politely declined. The last time I let them schedule us with her, we waited in the exam room for over an hour, and I went out and grabbed the nurse...turns out the PA had left for the day! Not to mention, I have never thought her skills were that great.
So he sees the doctor at 11:00 tomorrow. Whew.

NOW I can leave for work!

Fingers crossed....

Set with the countdown.....

Why are you on line and not signing.....

It's not us who has to do the signing at this point... its the 'powers that be' at Allstate....

Supposedly, the 'real' noise won't start til tomorrow when they put the panels on... guess that's the bright side (if there is one) of us being closed for the Memorial Service tomorrow.

Only an hour and a half til lunch...
I know that there is a real shortage of qualified workers, but falling off the ladder............. :rotfl2:
