Welcome to our world! Please share your first name with us, so we don't have to call you "Yippee". I hope you'll stick around and jump right in, don't let our familiarity (we've been talking already for a while) intimidate you.

My name is Diana, Tinksdad (Kevin) is my DH, and we'll be cruising from Albuquerque NM with our daughter Alicia (Tinkdancer), who will be 15 on the cruise. Please show your daughter and son the kids thread, they need help! Link below.

WELCOME!

Pam, the front page article in our paper today was about refugees arriving from LA. I guess they were redirected in the air from Texas, about 6000 people are expected. Can you imagine the culture shock for these people, from NO to the high desert!

WAY TO GO!!!

We are all looking forward to the cruise VERY much!! As the others have said, jump right in and have some fun!

What are your interests???

DH and I are heading over to dobelover's house this afternoon for a labor day bbq. Looking forward to it, especially since I don't have to cook.

Last evening, DH and I went to the Maryland State Fair. We were astonished at how much our yellow lab looked like some of the pigs. (Mostly the pigs that were laying down.) In defense of our dog I must say that the pigs did out weigh him, however we couldn't deny the similiarities.

Happy Labor Day to all.

Virgil...thanks for that website. It was very informative and I will be checking that out more indepth. The pictures on the plasmas is outrageous. I think the one we were looking at in Best Buy was a 42" Samsung widescreen DLP HD. The comparable sized plasma did have a better picture. It is a little scary to order a big ticket item like that from the internet, though. What happens if when you get it, it's damaged? Then, who will put it in for you? Especially a plasma. I don't know....I'm usually the little kid when purchasing electronics(the gadget guru, remember?), but I did hesitate last night at the store. Glad I did, cause I'm really confused now. I think the 50" would be too big for the room that we have. Ya know what they say...bigger is better...

Well, gotta do some laundry. I will be taking a ride to Circuit City this afternoon to see what specials they have.

Thanks again.

Maria

I wouldn't hesitate ordering from a reputable store such as tvauthority.com or tweeter.com. The site I linked for you has a powerbuy going on on the new 1080p Samsung DLPs. Shipping is included - and they have a 30 day money back guarantee. The 720p that are at Circuit City are nice - but the 1080p is nicer - and they probably don't have them yet.

Room size does make a difference as you don't want to be too close - but 5-7 feet viewing distance is good for a 42" and 6-8 feet for 50" and 7-10 for 60".

YIPPEEDCL - WELCOME ABOARD AND JUMP RIGHT IN....This is also our second cruise, our first, January of 2005 was a 4 day and way, way too short.

We all all very excited as you will find out......We also have a mascot - Scoopie - who is traveling right now with Mary - you can check out Scoopies webpage http://home.houston.rr.com/isgrenphoto/scoopieweb/index.htm and check with mickeymo for info on hosting Scoopie.

We celebrate everything and anything, including the TOP of the page post, memoriable numbers, such as 100, 1000, 2000,,,

Friday is Keraoke day - but we spar you hearing us sing as there is not (yet) an audio link.

Some of the gang cruised together before, some of us have not. We are only 3 - me, DH and our mascot Hedgie.....who will appear at times to post.

We have one lurker called I'm Not Lisa - who seems to get into trouble a lot....We will let you see about her.

We have two folk who are helping with linking dinner reservations but since I have not yet done so, I copied this from whmin64

If you click on the link for the 5/27/06 cruise in WDWLVR's siggie, it has the list of who is in charge of what, along with info on some of your fellow cruisers. You will find this:

Linked dinner reservations

Those of us who have sailed together before have found the joy of linking dinner reservations. What this means is that you and your family can spend dinner time with your fellow DIS'ers. No we won't all be at one table, but we can all be together in the same location. Contacts are:

Sue (aka Dobelover) for Main Seating

Diana (Dancind) for Late Seating

PM these ladies on the DIS with the full names of everyone in your party, your cabin number and later you may be asked for your reservation number. Let them know if you want to be at a table with other DISers or if your family wants their own table but right near the others.

Hum, what else....Some of us are avid readers and have talked about a book exchange on the cruise. We are saving the books now, well, at least I am. We also spoke of a wine tasting....some of us love wine, especially Fairy Tale Champage...others prefer ----- you'll see.

We have not yet posted about the Harry Potter Book as not everyone has read it.

Many/most have kids, and they will be glad to exchange stories on daily life with raising children.....

Some are avid scuba divers, others prefer snorkeling, still others shopping.

That's about it for now...And Welcome.....

(Ps - don't worry, there really is not a pop test on the prior posts).

We have had a HDTV, rear projection 53" Pioneer for several years now and like it quite well. If I had to do it over again, I would look at the DLP units. Amazing color and resolution!

I love my 60" Samsung DLP. And yes, Size does matter! :rotfl2:

We bought ours through a 'reputable' big-name store... and a week after they delivered it, it croaked... so even when you do buy it in a 'real' store, its not always perfect. They replaced it ASAP... we have a fifty-something inch HD flatscreen projection... better seen from the neighbors house, if you ask me. (But I have to admit, I DO love it...) HD is definitely the way to watch sports...

I always said I didn't want a huge TV... we were in the mall one day, and Ray and Christopher wandered away while Elizabeth and I were shopping... 45 minutes later, we owned a new elephant-sized TV... (I haven't let them in the mall since.)

Welcome, welcome. My DS (will be 11 on the 11th) will be thrilled that there is another boy his age on the cruise. Way outnumbered by girls at this time.

Heck, they don't have to go back now. Looks they have what they want!! :rolleyes1

Today's attempt at working while the office was quiet is not going well. The websites are acting up, perhaps because one is the USACE and they have more improtant things to do....then the girl that does our office cleaning comes in for help - her keys are at the bottom of the elevator.....what to do, what to do....???? The office building is empty. I know - Duct tape....

Duct Tape to the rescue. We have duct tape in hurricane supplies along with flashlights....the pole off the broom and a bent binder clip makes a long hook....what Candid Camera would have given us for this escapade.... After we snagged the keys, the pole would not fully pull back up, so I left ther holding the snatched keys to make a shorter hook as the long one would not bend to bring up the keys...now the elevator door will not shut, but what the heck, she has her keys .

Lesson Learned.....Hang on to anything while walking over the chasm in the elevator.....else the elevator fairy will snatch things.... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Second lesson - I think we do need to take duct tape on a cruise. It has rescued both DH and I when our boots let go during a hike, and you do not wish to be miles up with no hiking boots.....and of course, duct tape was used on the latest shuttle repairs....Into the case it goes...

ok, back to work.

Won't she be surprised to find I have a boo boo on my thumb and can't wash the veggies! At least the chicken is cooked, potato salad made and the kitchen is cleaned up.
