Elementary school didn't seem to have any out of the ordinary dress code rules other than the one about no tank tops. I just don't get that for elem. school. I have sent Emily to school in a tank dress and haven't been warned. I can't see not allowing tank tops on a child when temps are 90+ degrees outside. I know that when I'm out and about, I'd much rather be in a tank than a full shirt with sleeves. Besides, it's not like a K-5 grader would be showing off body parts that they shouldn't ... at least I hope not.

The dress code at the library where I work prohibits wearing thongs to work. The older employees knew what it meant, but one of the younger ones asked how anyone would know if you were wearing thongs. I grew up in an age where thongs were NOT underwear, but could appreciate the humor in the interpretation of the rule.:rotfl2:

Now see, I'm old enough to call flip flops "thongs", but even I forget.

Oh ... the same girl that told me about her stepson wearing ladies jeans also showed me that it is written in the dress code that house slippers are not allowed ... seems that they had problem with girls showing up in slippers and pajama pants. I guess it would be comfortable though.

The one that gets me, is that kids in Florida cannot wear sandals to school... all shoes must have a back and closed toe... HELLO... THIS IS FLORIDA...

Who's cruising this year? I thought that maybe I'd ask (nicely) for one of you to pick up some sort of stocking stuffer(s) for my girls. I send money beforehand. I think I read a post on the main board that there are coloring books. Does anyone know what else there is onboard that would be appropriate for a 3 and 5 year old?

Alicia's mid-school had rules against flip flops, but it was widely ignored. In her new school, she can wear flips AND sleeveless tops. The chemistry teacher does ask them to wear real shoes on lab days, though. They do state in the dress codes that they prefer that dancewear (you know, spandex) not be worn to class. Apparently, the girls used to just throw a skirt or shorts over their leos and tights.

Both of my girls have closed toe sandals. But, at some point they'll get too big and we won't be able to find those any more. Open-toe sandals are not allowed at day care either. It's more of a safety issue at that age.

Sweater caps may be worn outside when the temperature drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

SIXTY degrees? Heck, in April that's sun bathing weather around here!!!

PINS....a 3 year old can't have too many of those!! :)

I cruise September 4th. Is that too soon to get a wish list to me?

The problem is, DD11 already has size 9 (ladies) feet... its hard enough to find 'age-appropriate' shoes at this point... never mind, age-appropriate-closed toe-with-a-back shoes!!!
