That sounds a bit.. extreme. I would at least try to get a good virus killer up and running to stop it first.

The same guy also told me that Ad-Aware was a BAD thing! ???? Me thinks the "guy" doesn't know what he's talking about.....and he used to be in the computer business. Maybe "used to be" is a key phrase!

There will be a setting scan and fix..... if not - scan it and it'll keep scanning until morning....

Okay...I'll give it a try....at this point, it couldn't hurt. I couldn't even open "My Documents" or "My Pictures" earlier today. Stupid PITA...to quote Kevin.

NO DIET SODA.....something in it makes me up-chuck. (Sorry to be so graphic)

Signing off the Boards for now...I don't think I'll turn the computer off...afraid it may not come back on again. Geez....you get to the point where these things are like your right arm....and then something goes wrong, and it's awful! What did we do in the old days?? (And if one of you says telegraph.... I'm not THAT old!)

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Tuesday!

Well we never got the storms this morning we thought we would. Thank goodness.

Thoughts are with the crew of Discovery today as they are prepared once again to go into orbit!

:bday: Happy Birthday Pam (BWVPam) :bday:

:cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: Have a great day!:cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake:

Morning everyone. Happy Birthday Pam :bday: :bday: Hope you have a great day.

Another beee-uuuu-tiful day in NY here. Sun is up, humidity is down, awesome pool day.

Construction update:

We have our electrical inspection today. Keep your fingers crossed, although I'm really not worried. Our electrician is very good. Almost as good as my plumber. And speaking of plumbers, our plumbing inspection is this Thursday. So, if all goes well, we could be insulating next week. You know what that means, sheet rock is next. All too exciting for me. We keep taking these steps forward and before ya know it, it'll be done. I have to keep my eyes on the finished product. I'm starting to get a little antsy now. Give me strength!!!

So, happy Tuesday to all. Not much else going on here.

MickeyMo - when should we be expecting Scoopie? Niagara Falls awaits us....

TTFN,
Maria

Ad-aware a bad thing? Ya, that guy has NO clue.

Now I'd more suggest going out and buying something Stacey, as you can boot from the CD and have it do a virus scan without Windows even running. This prevents the virus from blocking any attempts to get rid of it. Downloading may leave the opportunity for the virus to keep you from fixing it.

Either AVG or Trend Micro Pcillin, and you can buy a 'plus' version of Ad-Aware too or you can download it. Like I said last night, just stay away from Norton or McAfee, They really arn't as effective as they used to be.

:bday: Happy Birthday Pam (BWVPam) :bday:

Yea, Yea, Yea!!!

July birthday'ers Rock!!

I agree with Mark and Virgil!! I haven't used McAfee in years and got rid of Norton last year too!!

Don't know... but the weather guy did say that this dirt cloud is keeping the hurricanes away... I guess African dirt IS good for SOMETHING!!!

Sorry I wasn't able to catch up with you when I was in WPB last week... our time was 'booked' for us. We did have a great dinner at Panama Hattie's... reminds me a lot of my favorite place here...

We'll make a meet before May - I'm sure. Trust me, I understand the schedules you have during conferences -- your time is not your own..... :wave2:

Well -- Just finished reading the 15 or more pages I was behind on since last weekend. Things have just been so crazy. A week ago Monday, my MIL fell in her driveway, breaking her arm and her hip. We have all been taking turns staying with her. Friday, Saturday and Sunday was the Border Long Course Swimming Championships here in town.

Ashley did very well. Swam on 2 relays and they both won. She had 10 individual events. She won 7 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals and won the high point award for her age group. As soon as we finished swim meet yesterday, she wanted to go to a swim party hosted by our church. She never seems to get tired of the water.

Hopefully, I can stay caught up now for a while anyway

Sorry to hear about MIL - falls can be so difficult for our Mothers!

On the positive side - congrats on Ashley's WINNING events! :wave2:

Yes, definitely Spybot too at some point. But those two to start. Frankly, Mcafee and Norton both are in the near useless category now. The hacks write their garbage specifically to target and disable those two.

We also use AdAware as well as Trend Microsoft OfficeScan instead of Norton.

Good Luck... :wave2:

DH and I took my Mother (not a "Disney Mom") out to dinner last night for her 85th.....The servers were extra nice but she will not let us sign Happy Birthday or have the bring her a cake......She requested to go to HOPS. I had hoped for a more upscale celebration, but she is "allowed" to choose.... :rose:

Discovery just counted off for their audio communication check....

I'm watching the Nasa channel on tv, it's fascinating. The shuttle is sealed, they are doing the final tasks before leaving the tower.

And Office Scan is the corporate version of PcCillin, both from Trend Micro. The only real difference between the two is Office Scan is setup to be distributed and managed over a lan network.
