Good Morning All! On this beautiful morning for Discovery. :sunny: We live 2 miles from the Johnson Space Center and just dropped the kids off at Space Camp - they are enrolled for the entire week and they are so excited to be there today!
They are visiting mission control today...How cool is that!!! News crews are all over the place and the entire visitor's center is buzzing with excitement.

Wishing the crew Godspeed! Thoughts, prayers, pixie dust with the entire NASA family.

cool cool cool :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
:cool1: :cool1:
Work suffering from a litte less productivity right now, don't you think?

:bounce: I'm ready - can't imagine how NASA family feels! Prob. too busy doing their jobs to be 'cited. :bounce:

MC - Our long wait may be over - for all who believe - God speed and have fun up there!
Discovery - We are go for launch.

I loved that line! I'm alternating between network TV and the computer - they were showing pictures of the crew in their hawaiian shirts. Steak and Egg Sandwiches for breakfast... the Japanese astronaut flashed a Monopoly card showing "get out of quarantine free" - they've been in quarantine since the original launch. He also had an "Out of Launch" sign... :rotfl2:

Main engine purge - there's smoke or steam - whatever coming out of the back - what a beautiful sight! :bounce: Arms moving.... :bounce:

I beg to differ... I stood on the loading dock with the owner of our company, and had a very productive meeting while waiting for the fire to appear in the sky... (then again, that's where we have our most productive meetings, as he can't smoke his morning Cuban cigar inside...)... so it was business as usual for me till liftoff!

But it was great to see again - I had only seen it once before. DH was watching it from the spotters' tower at the Speedway... I'm sure he had a great view!

Sure italian seasongs will work. I normally add a little black pepper, garlic salt and rosemary. You don't have to grind them up. Just rub them on.

it comes in a grinder and you can't get the top off without serious bodily harm....so they will get ground. it includes rosemary, black pepper, red pepper, garlic, onion, sea salt, tomato and parsley....

mmmm....i'm getting hungry. i'm going to study your directions while i eat lunch :)

Can I come over for dinner when it's done??? I'm hungry.

Okay....I didn't run the virus scan last night (sorry Virgil) because Jay didn't want the computer left on all night. With all the fires lately, he was worried about an internal one.

So, I'll take your advice, Mark and buy something. I tried to at least back up my files onto disk this morning, and I can't open any of my document programs. It's so strange how it comes and goes.....

Anyway......off for now.

Hey Scuba family,

I just PM'd Sharon with Scoopie's next stop - he's heading north to NY!

He is on his way. He should be there by Thursday. When Lisa's life slows down (next week maybe before school starts), I will have her post what Scoopie did last week in Texas. I do know that besides the Karolyi's, he was able to meet Mary Lou Retton. She was at the camp to bring her two daughters (7 & 9) there for the week.

So, do they offer "Frequent Shipper Miles"???? Scoopie should have a free one coming up soon!! :rotfl2:

That should be sometime after she graduates from Med school and completes her residency, right?

ARGH!
I think my digital thermometer is busted. It's not making sense!

I did put my old thermometer in there too, and the two are way different in their readings!

Nasa is having a scheduled press conference right now. Points of interest.

1) They hit a bird just upon launch, they had not even cleared the tower at that point. It collided with the fuel tank and they feel that impact was no damage to the tank.

2) Something came off the fuel tank after they jetissoned the solid rocket boosters. It didn't come anywhere near the shuttle, came off the side of the tank where the boosters were attached. They don't know how big or small it is from the 1 camera angle, they have others they are still looking at.

3) They did lose a piece of a tile right behind the nose gear doors. No impact, it just fell off. They don't seem too concerned by it, they have had the orbiter return with tile damage before, not all the tiles are as critical.

None of the above are mission threats at this point, they are still looking at data and they already have a plan in place to use the new arm to examine the entire underside of the shuttle. They also have equipment onboard that they can repair damage to a point to keep a safe return. They will have more to know and tell by Thursday.
