It's interesting how that whole "who's in town, cause it's raining" thing has turned around on Jim, isn't? :confused3 Weird thing is, I think he started it :rotfl2:

One of our mottos here is "what goes around, comes around." ;)

Seems like Sir Scuba is just getting it back now!

It's been sunny and hot here for a long time. In fact, we lit the burn pile yesterday and 1/2 way into the burn there was a gust of wind and it lit the grass on fire.....good thing we had the garden hose there!

Yikes, Stacey! Prayers for you and everyone in the area. Probably some schmuck who lit their burn pile when it was too dry! :earseek:

Right now it is everyone in the State of Florida.

Don't try to pawn this off on the other residents of Florida!

Uhhh.... am I sure Mary going by herself to this meet'll be a good idea?? ;)

He's harmless, really. Just one day when we were meeting them at VWL, he shoed up wearing a dress and a big hat! Something about Halloween being soon....

cool, a TOP shared with Jared.

Now *that* is a birthday present, huh Jared? Just go ahead and have your mom and dad return all of your *real* gifts b/c nothing will compare to THIS! ;)

It's not that I'm trying to 'sensor' him... he's the kind of kid who you think is tough, but came out of the "Stitch Alien Encounter" so afraid that he was crying. With the movie being PG-13, I just think the action (scary) scenes might get to him.
Kind of the same situation at our house. A lot of the violent movies would give DS nightmares. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was one of them a few years ago. I think he's pretty much outgorwn that, now. We all saw 'Sith' and he was OK with it. We've taught him to overlook the bad language, explaining to him that people who use word like 'that' do it because they're not intelligent enough to know the right thing to say.

Too funny. That's what we learned growing up. "They must have a very limited vocabulary. They keep using the same words over and over." Which is really funny b/c my BIL must have an 8 word vocabulary. They don't have anything "regular" in their house...

It's not a sink, it's an f*ing sink.
It's not a dog, it's an f*ing dog.
It's not a car, it's an f*ing car.

And my sister wonders why I don't visit much now that the kids can talk! Hey, one of her son's first sentences included the word A*hole! ---and he used it CORRECTLY! (interestingly enough, speaking about his father!)

Ours are ok with "stage violence"---i.e. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Pirates....

but they have nightmares over creepy violence. Like when we let them watch Silence of the Lambs, Scream, and Blair Witch Project.

ok, if you think i'm serious, you're crazy!! actually, KT STILL claims to have nightmares over "Gremlins." Apparently those little creatures are cute when they are little, but when you get them wet they're quite evil. We had forgotten that part and we let them watch it....oops!

Chances are, they aren't going to experience a light saber battle in real life.
:rotfl2: We were at MGM during a Star Wars weekend... I couldn't believe the number of light saber battles going on... and it wasn't just kids... adults 'jousting' with their kids in line caused more problems that you could imagine... guy in front of me on RnRC smacked me in the head 'accidentally'... he became very afraid when I grabbed it out of his hand (from the 'lit' end that he hit me with) and threw it back to him. (I think he thought I was going to hit him back... but it did get him to stop.)

Movie wasn't NEARLY as good.
Nope- never saw the movie either... I won't see a movie that I haven't read the book for first (if there is a book first, obviously).

What we need to do is send Jim to Stacey's house to put the fires out. But seriously, Stacey- you're in our prayers...what a situation to be in, especially on Jared's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JARED!!! I really do wish we could send you some of our excess rain.

Everybody is getting rained on. At least they won't be cancelling the July 4th race because of fires.
Don't remind me... we weren't living here yet, but Ray was on an airplane, on his way here when they cancelled the race... by the time he landed, not only was the race cancelled, but his Dad's neighborhood had been evacuated... scary time! (And, opposingly, last year's race practically got flooded out.)

For everyone who thinks ebay is great, and also for those who think ebay is for freaks...
I rest my case.

Ok, I knew I was going to lose track of the list of books/authors that have been mentioned over the past several days, so I went back about 20 pages and scanned all posts....

Thanks for the list - I just printed it out!!!

I'm getting here later than all you Eastern folks, just wanted to send our best wishes to Stacey, Jay, Jared and Jorden!!

We will send the flame quenching prayers your way!!

Asking for prayers tonight and in the next day or two. There is a fire burning called the Cave Creek Complex fire. This is the closest fire that we have ever seen to our house. The flames are on the ridge of the nearest mountain.....we have several friends who are in the evacuation center (my kids' middle school) now, and have probably lost their homes. We are supposed to leave town tomorrow.....we may, we may not. Jay is at a Town Meeting right now, I've been packing pictures, videos and jewelry....

Please, pray for our friends here. I'll keep you posted.

Stacey - thoughts, prayers and pixie dust heading your way....wish I could send you some rain, too - but, we haven't had any here in awhile...

Thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and neighbors, Stacey. And Happy Birthday to Jared!

On the subject of scary movies; When we go to the theater and are watching the previews, DD never wants anything to do with the scary ones. She even hides her eyes on parts of the movies she wants to see it its scary! :earseek:
