We're not BLAMING you... just pointing out a recurring COINCIDENCE in Florida weather patterns. Have no fear, Mary, I think its just a Central Florida thing... you should be fine once you are in international waters.

I know we'll be fine in the water because the captain will take us someplace safe. It's the driving to and from the cruise that has me worried!

To all my friends in Florida. Happy 1st day of Hurricane Season. May the season be a dud and no hurricanes hit land this year. But if they do can you please make sure it isn't between September 1st through 10th. Thanks!

Thanks- my kids were in a panic this morning over it... the radio & tv stations here have been hyping it up WWWAAAAAAAAYYYYY too much this year.

Karen - I'm looking at it like Murphey's law. If you are prepared and the hype is there nothing will happen.

That's it - worry now and then we won't have to face it. Think that will work?

Happy 1st day of Hurricane Season.

I'll always remember the 1st day of hurricane season now. Two years ago my Pawpaw (maternal grandfather) passed away on this day. One of the grandchildren brought up the fact that it was perfect that Pawpaw passed on this day because he loved to keep up with the weather. He wasn't much of a talkative man but if you called to say hi, he always knew what the weather was like in your area of the country (and always kept me up on my N.O. Saints). After his funeral the grandchildren got together at their house & raised a high-ball (bourbon & 7) to him. That was the drink he'd always have on a Sun. while all of the women were cooking lunch.

Here's hoping we all fare well during huricane season especially those living in coastal areas!

Angie

Busy night for me tonight. DH Bruce is having lasik corrective eye surgery done tonight, DD Emily has swimming lessons, & I've got to straighten my house since my parents are coming in tomorrow! I probably won't have a chance to check the boards tonight so I figured I'd steal a few minutes at work today.:guilty:

I'm ready for the weekend already! :cool1: I'm hoping that Bruce & I can have a date night since my parents will be here.

Aren't you the one that had a running counter on the number of days without sunshine?

No, I believe that was her OTHER half... I think you refer to him as "cupcake"? :confused3

We are now at day 4. Still no sun. Over an inch of rain and water water everywhere.

Karen - you know that is exactly what went though my mind this morning when I was reading that. Of course I'm too good a friend to blame you.

Great minds think alike! :)

No, actually, I had a counter going too....right after the 10 day cruise. After I hit day 10 or so the Scubas invited me down to FL to get some sun. In order to make me feel REALLY at home, they made sure it rained most of the time I was there. :) Wasn't that nice of them???

btw, anytime my kids hear the word "mussles" they gag and groan! And they didn't even TRY the slimey things!!!! :faint: :rotfl2:

anyone else here?

guess not. I'll just have to enjoy this TOP by myself!!!

Oh, hey, Mary, KT finished FOUR scrapbook pages in the last couple of days!

(added that so I could share a TOP with my good friend, Mary, mother of Bear!)

Mary, mother of Bear!

Which, btw, is what you are referred to as around here....

as in...

"Mary, mother of Bear PM'd me today about our cruise."

If I just say "Mary" SOMEONE will say "do you mean Mary, mother of Bear?"

:) :)

Yes, I remember that stretch of weather... thank you very much!
We are on day 2 of :umbrella: , although the sun did make a cameo appearance for about 5 minutes this morning... now its just clouds... it REALLY had better shape up by tomorrow!!!!

Hey Sue, I Think I Got This Working, Finally!

Gee it is fun here! Sue was jumping around and yelling when she got me on line, the dogs started barking and jumping, then Jeanne started yelling WHAT'S WRONG, you would have thought they were doing the doc or the double digit dance. Anyway, the weather is sunny and 80 today. Sue let me go to a drs test with Jeanne and she did fine. Then we went to an emergency food pantry for a few hours of volunteer work. Now we are using the computer in the family room for me. Whew!

YA HAD TO REMIND US! NOT ENOUGH THAT IS ALL WE HEAR AND ME WITH NO MRE'S ON THE SHELF YET.

Seriously, we shall all pray for no repeat of last year, anywhere, most of all in Fla. or the DC line paths.

CajunGirl2 - Didn't I see you prayers and best wishes for the family that lost their grandfather on Memorial Day? It's a touching thread - for all who have lost their loved ones from that Great Generation.

Scoopie... glad to see that you are devoting some of your time to community service! Let's hope that there is no hurricane relief efforts involved for you this year!

I read some of the thread but didn't post. I'm such a bad wife. I didn't think about the possibility of my husband being sad because it was Memorial Day. His Dad passed away 1.5 years ago and was a WWII vet. He was buried at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.
