Ok ... I've just caught up on reading the weekend's posts. We're home from Chattanooga.

Kikipug, we're the one with the rain! It's going to rain all day. We did have a treat today. We've seen a deer in our backyard twice this morning. The girls are driving me crazy this morning & now DH has crawled in bed because he thinks he's coming down with something ... oh joy!

I'm so jealous of everyone heading down to DW! Chattanooga was ok but not DW.

Hope everyone has a good Memorial Day.
Angie

DW and DD just got back from WDW. They did not get up until 10 am. I already had 10 posts by then.

Glad I am not working today. Just started the blender drinks. A good day here because we are not going any where. To much traffic heading to the beach!

Bright and sunny here in Chicagoland, but a little on the cool side. We are still grilling, but will be eating in.

They aren't due over for another 1 1/2 hours so I have some DIS time :)

This was shared by a Canadian friend from our 10 day cruise. Very fitting for today.

A Pittance Of Time
Written by Terry Kelly

They fought and some died for their homeland
They fought and some died now it’s our land
Look at his little child, there’s no fear in her eyes
Could he not show respect for other dads who have died?

Take two minutes, would you mind?
It’s a pittance of time
For the boys and the girls who went over
In peace may they rest, may we never forget why they died.
It’s a pittance of time

God forgive me for wanting to strike him
Give me strength so as not to be like him
My heart pounds in my breast, fingers pressed to my lips
My throat wants to bawl out, my tongue barely resists

But two minutes I will bide
It’s a pittance of time
For the boys and the girls who went over
In peace may they rest, may we never forget why they died.
It’s a pittance of time

Read the letters and poems of the heroes at home
They have casualties, battles, and fears of their own
There’s a price to be paid if you go, if you stay
Peace is fought for and won in numerous ways

Take two minutes would you mind?
It’s a pittance of time
For the boys and the girls all over
May we never forget our young become vets
At the end of the line it’s a pittance of time

It takes courage to fight in your own war
It takes courage to fight someone else’s war
Our peacekeepers tell of their own living hell
They bring hope to foreign lands that the hatemongers can’t kill.

Take two minutes, would you mind?
It’s a pittance of time
For the boys and the girls who go over
In peacetime our best still don battle dress
And lay their lives on the line.
It’s a pittance of time

In Peace may they rest, lest we forget why they died.
Take a pittance of time

A Canadian song writer was moved to write a song about people NOT taking the time ( 2 minutes ) to honour the people who fought for our freedom on Memorial Day.

Good Morning all!

Scoopie is going to be one traveled mascot!!! Here's his itinerary so far (and Maggie and I are coming along as his chaperones!!!)

Pam (BVWPam) - July 1-7

Well, I guess you will need to change the dates I sent for Scoopie as they are gone. How about July 17-23? OR, if we have to go later, send him to us in the Winter (he'll need a little sun by then).

Pam,

At the Yacht Club (which is a short walk from Epcot) there is also Yachtsman Steakhouse - one of my all time favorites!

That's Matt's favorite too. We went there for his birthday in April.
Jim and I have a new favorite (but not to be visited very often I'm afraid). We did Victoria and Alberts with Kevin and Diana. It was INCREDIBLE.

I was rainy and grey here this morning. Our plans were to play in the backyard and let the kids get in the pool. Too cold for us, and probably too cold for them, but they can say they got in on Memorial Day! :)

But with the weather, plans changed. We went to Michael's....wasn't that nice of them to put TWO flyers in our paper BOTH with 50% off coupons??? So KT got a Sizzix for her scrapbooking. What fun! Then to a bookstore in old German Village and then we went to see the movie Millions. Pretty good movie.

Now that we're home, it's sunny, but still cool. Got some ribs cooking, potato salad is done, and we'll be set for a yummy meal! Gonna go see if the kids want to try the pool. :cold: :cold:

Just think... the $ you are saving on not feeding Matt all summer might get you another dinner at V&A's... (see... I can rationalize anything!)

Hope you had a great time!

Nope - Once is probably all I will ever get. But that's ok. Matt e-mailed us that he is safe and sound (YEA!!!). He went to see a movie last night and started language school this morning. I'll have to start my own countdown - until Matt returns on July 7, 2005.

So we are sitting on Kevin's and Diana's balcony last night drinking Banfi and eating desert. Kevin pipes up, "It is a perfect night tonight. Sure can tell Karen is not in town".

Sorry, but true! :sunny:

Yeah, so am I, but it's VBS, acting classes, camp, etc.... I'd rather be Scoopie!

I'll take early March... sometime around the 4th would be great... if the Scuba's want to host Scoopie before or after, we can save him some jet lag. :confused3

You'll be happy to know that its pouring here now... with thunder and lightning to match... it won't last though- just our usual post-90-degree pop up t-storm.

Ours is the crappy "it's been chilly for a week it might as well rain all blasted day" kinda rain.

Weather in NY was quite nice for Memorial Day. Sun was out all day. The kids actually got a little sunburn playing ball in the park. I basically took the day off and just about lounged ALL DAY!!! Ya gotta love it. No BBQ, no housework, no yardwork, just lounged. Even found the movie, Hunt for Red October on TV. Great one.

Sorry to hear about the rain. We had that all last week. I hate when it gets so cold your bones hurt. Kinda shows your age, too when that happens.

Well, gotta go to bed now. I may troll around the boards for a few minutes. I wish I was Scoopie for a little while. Especially in the coming Winter when he goes to Karen's and the Scuba's houses. Take me with you Scoopie!!! Nite Nite everyone.

Maria

A beautiful day here in Chicagoland. Did some housework this morning, then our BBQ this afternoon.

Tonight Mark is printing out maps etc. for our first June trip (since that is our driving trip). This includes our pre-cruise meet with Sandi and her family!

Looks like Scoopie is getting ahead of us!!!
