We're not doing much traveling this summer....we have that Italian disease - Funs-a-low. Get it? This house is eating all our cash.

TTFN,
Maria

I know exactly what you mean, Maria. Our summer vacation fund this year is called 'new roof for house'. We just got our first quote, and all I can say is 'OUCH'! We could have gone on both repositioning cruises...

Well - what a way to start a Monday. My mom called me late last night to tell me that my dad had fallen - and hurt his leg.... well - of course the story was a little bit more involved - and he has an open fracture of his femur (thigh bone)... They had to transfer him to Pittsburgh as none of the local orthopods would handle it.....

Great way to start the week - have to find coverage for me so that I can go to Pittsburgh. Kristin will be upset - as she's scheduled to leave for China on Wednesday.......

Be back later....

Drat! I am in Alaska that week, June 8 - 18. We get back in the evening on the 18th. When are you leaving DC area? Where will you be staying?

Oh well, thought I'd try - John's seminars and classes are based out of the Jurys Washington on Dupont Circle - so, we're staying there. My parents are meeting us for the week, since John is the only one who has ever visited D.C. We're leaving the evening of the 18th. We'll just miss you!

Mary, I'm sure something else will bring me to Chicago, so I'll let you know...

Only trip scheduled is Toronto to see the Yanks play the Blue Jays the first weekend in August. Nothing exciting like WDW or DC. Just the good ole Empire State of NY. Anybody traveling this North this summer? Looks like I'm out of the loop this summer.

TTFN,
Maria

You won't be the only one staying put this summer. Ours isn't a case of not having the $ but rather not having the time. DH & I are having to save all of our leave for my impending back surgery. My company doesn't have STD so I'll be taking leave without pay. We each only get 2 weeks of vacation per year. UGH!!! This weekend (Mem. weekend), we'll be taking the short drive up to Chattanooga for the weekend. That will be the extent of our vacationing unless we can figure out some place else to go within only a couple of hours of ATL that we can do on a weekend.

Holy Cow Virgil! Is an open fracture, a compound break?

Our prayers to him and your family. Hope it works out alright!

Yep - unfortunately it is..... Complicated by the fact that he has had a knee replacement on that side - so I'm not really sure what they'll be able to do....

Thanks for all of the thoughts and PD....

Virgil,

I did that same thing with my left leg in a car accident that shattered 2 inches of my left leg. The bone went through my skin and my jeans. It was a car accident. I got hit with a '67 Dodge and I was driving a little Ford Fiesta back in 1983. Of course I was a lot younger than your dad when it happened, but they will fix him up just right. It may take a little time, but have faith. My prayers are with you and your family. Have a safe trip.

TTFN,
Maria

Wow... I go away for a few days, and you guys fill up pages and pages and pages!!!!! So I guess I'll have to catch up all at once...

I'm back from CT... froze my butt off... it was 48 yesterday morning when I left for church. My niece's graduation was nice, but no matter what, watching 1400 people march across the stage gets really boring. I'm proud of her, though- she worked hard to graduate in 3 and a half years. She flew home with me last night, to spend a week here enjoying our sunshine.

In terms of vacations this summer, our 4 days in WDW is our only vacation. With Ray's summer work schedule revolving around the Pepsi 400, and football/cheerleading starting August 1, we get very little summer vacation time. I have a 3-day conference at the PGA Resort in West Palm Beach in July, and he's going to Sturgis SD in August, so we'll each get a pseudo-work-mini-break in there somewhere.

Lisa- Welcome! We're all 'odd' (that seemed to be the word of the day here while I was gone...), so join in the fun!

Mary- Let me know if I need to bug my SIL about coming up with a logo for us. She's in the process of packing up her house and business, moving into a new one, and 5 months pregnant, with a 14 month old underfoot... but we've got time, and I can at least get her thinking if necessary. She does great work.

Amanda- I got your PM- I'll PM you back once I catch up on all my work stuff. (notice I started catching up on the Boards BEFORE 'work stuff' this morning.)

Scuba- last week, you were wishing that the beer t-shirt fairy would leave one in your mailbox... what size??? I have a connection to the beer fairy... (NO... sorry- she can't leave beer in your mailbox)

Well, I guess I had better go try to catch up on things like work e-mail and phone messages, and this overflowing inbox from 2 days out of the office. I'm off again tomorrow to take my niece and her friend to Sea World.

Gotta run...

Bike shorts and tutus and speedos, oh my!!

Maria, shirt list inventoryl!!

thanks!

Maria - thanks for volunteering for this project. I have had catching up to do on posts, but then I was able to pop over to WDW for the weekend, poor me....no travel plans this summer, saving that vacation time for the cruise....still, maybe another pop to the world will work. Yes again, poor me!

And, my vote on Soarin' is that it is fantastic! Of course, I am not a skydiver so I have not enjoyed the real experience. Center of Center row, front seats - WOW!!!

Still need to get that roof myself, but that is nigh high impossible - and since I do not have a blue tarp (fortunately) I am content to take a back seat to those who need repairs.....They cannot come fast enough.

Best of Monday to all, and sorry to hear that in the midst of fun, we have accidents. Good luck to Vigil's Dad.

Prayers going out for your dad, Virgil. Please let me know if there is anything we can do. We aren't *that* far. If you need us to take Lauren anytime, I'm sure KT would not complain! :)

I'll be on Soarin' this Thursday! Sorry family, cannot wait for you. I wonder if they have a single rider line?

Virgil, prayers and PD for your Dad. Hope he weathers this well.

Try to get the front row... that will put you up the highest, and you won't see any feet hanging from above you! Have fun!!!

Thanks for all of the well wishes.... My dad had surgery - and is doing well - I talked to him a few minutes ago - not sure what they did to him - he said "they fixed it".... Hmmm guess I better try and talk to the surgeon to get the offical word.... Definitely hate being stuck here hundreds of miles away....

Thanks again!

They do have a single rider line, but it wasn't being used a few weekends ago. Maybe they will be using it for you this week. Have fun. I loved it.
