Your wife probably should not see this post (or maybee she should) but ---it is fantastic. I love the D200 but it is another world with the D2x. Focus is spot on and fast - you don't even think about it. I found for dance the HSC high speed crop mode was very useful. I could turn it on when I was zooming in for individual shots and then turn it off when I was doing more company stuff. This way I could just leave the 70-200 on and not have to move a lot. The shutter lag is noticably shorter on the D2x and the D200 was quick to begin with.
As you know dance is dark and fast moving -- shot mostly at 800 with autoiso on to try to get 1/125s. A little noise in the pictures, but won't be bad at 8x10 and under. Shot on M size which is almost an 8x10 at 300dpi.
That's what I've heard!! I'm a bit confused on the high speed crop. What does that actually do?
