I even found the passenger list from the ship John's grandfather sailed on when he immigrated and pictures of the ship, too...

I found my grandfather's records on Ellis Island's website, including the actual manifest with his name and signature on it (before he changed his name to make it easier to find work) ... he was a room steward on a White Star Lines cruise ship (the S/S Baltic) in the 20's. that sailed out of Barcelona... his hometown. (Maybe that explains my love for cruising... its in my genes.)

Hey Virgil! I found you guys a different shore excursion in France!!

Although I know you'll be looking more like this:

And here's me in a week!

How far back do you have to go...entering names and birthdates, that is? I was hoping it would be really simple, but if I have to enter all those old relative's names and info, then I've already done half the work.
Yeah, I'm ambition-challenged. Formerly known as lazy.

Hi all!

We are not off to a good holiday weekend. Ashley went to bed last night saying that her stomach hurt. But, we blew her off. See, every night it's "my stomach hurts, my foot hurts, my leg hurts". You get the picture. It's usually just procrastination. Well, at 2:00 this morning she came to our room & said that her stomach hurt. Bruce put her back to bed only to be woken up 30 min. later with some not so good sounds coming from her room. Poor girl. She's down & out. She's been crashed out on the sofa for the past hour. I think that's a good sign. At least she hasn't tossed her cookies in an hour.

On a good note, our office furniture arrived today. I just hope it's not too much furniture. We definitely need to find some artwork to put on the walls now. Once we get things set up again, I'll post some pics. Wish I would have taken some "before" pics.

Bruce caught me DIS'ing about the barber shop. I asked him what he thought of getting the girls hair cut there. He said he thought it would be ok. He's definitely fine with it now ... watched the Disney vacation planning DVD this a.m. The girls saw BBB & said "I want to do that!!!" Bruce looked at me & asked how much that cost. When I told him at least $35 vs. the $14 at the barber shop, he defintely thought the barber shop sounded like a good deal!

What fun!! Jared and I just got home from our mini-meet with Pam, Charley, Dale and Ashley at her swim meet. It's so amazing to me how us DIS friends can so easily slip right into chatting away. I really enjoyed every second of it...even though it is 96° out there and awfully darn tempting to be so close to a swimming pool and not be able to jump in!!

Ashley's times were great! And she's grown so much in this past year....what a beauty!!

We had a chance to go get some lunch in between her events and it just was so nice to get all caught up. And sad to realize that ONE YEAR AGO we were cruising!!

Thanks, Pam, for inviting me down. Brought back a lot of really great memories, being at the swim meet.

Angie....I'm sorry our other Ashley isn't feeling well! Lots of TLC and hopefully she be good as new tomorrow!!

:tinker:

Poor Ashley. Hope she's up and about in no time. At least you had some warning. With Nick the first sign of a puking illness is him puking all over. :( (too lazy to get a puking smiley)

Artwork....I love www.vladstudio.com He has some really cool stuff on there. A ton of it...you have to really browse around.

BBB....for $35? I didn't know they had anything that cheap. Maybe b/c I first saw the $150 package and walked away." Crazy what ppl are dropping in that place. Did you know they are putting a BBB in Cinderella castle now too???

PAM...
I know you aren't home now....but when you get home....
our plans sorta changed. Mike has opted not to do the podcast convention. He's building a pretty good base of "fans" and doesn't feel like he needs to network. As for tech stuff, he's probably more knowledgable and has better equipment than 75% of the pocasters out there. But he still wants to go to CA.

So we're extending our Disney time....I *think* we'll be there from about October 1st-October 8th....
any chance you can come for a weekend trip--like the 5/6/7th? I have no clue how far it is to Disneyland for you. Think about it. I know KT would LOVE it. She was just crying today about it being a YEAR since she cruised with Ashley and Nicole. :( :(

Yep one year ago tonight was dinner at JB's and then the meet at the Radisson.

Stacey & Pam - your mini meet sounds like a lot of fun!

Ok....
call to all of you...
not sure if you've read the lastest Mouse Matters (and if not, WHY NOT?) but.....

SUBMIT YOUR MAGICAL MOMENTS....

Mike is getting some REALLY good submissions (ones that choke me up at times)
I want my Blabbermouth friends represented!!!! :) :)

I sent one in. Not sure if it will qualify as one of the 101 best but it was definately a magical moment for us.

I think his idea is a great one.

Happy May 27th everyone! Last year on this date we were waking up at the Hampton Inn. After a short stroll on the beach we packed up the car and met Monica and Laura's families for breakfast at Grills. Then a short drive to the port (with one wrong turn - sorry about that Laura) and we ready for our Double Scoop cruise.

Sadly no reunion cruise is in the works yet (though some of us have plans to cruise together in 2008 on various cruises).

Thanks for all the memories guys - it was a great cruise!

Jim called this morning. He and Matthew are in Montana and getting ready to start the more "rustic" portion of their trip (the first part sounded too rustic for me)

They flew from Orlando to Minneapolis and then on to Great Falls. They arrived at 1am in Great Falls and at that time there were no more hotel shuttles. So waiting for a cab, they said the airport was empty and they were freezing, they started pulling out all of their heavy clothes (sweatshirts, jackets, etc) and putting them on. It made me think of the scene in Cool Runnings where the Jamaican Bobsled Team went to Calagary and encountered cold for the first time.

The next morning (Sat) they met another couple that are going on this trip and they picked up the vehicle the Ranch had left for them to drive 2+ hours to the small town where they were to meet the rest of guests / ranch hands. Jim said the vehicle was clearly a work truck, there was still hay and a dead mouse in it. *YUK*

Saturday night they piled in the back of a horse trailer to drive to the Welcome Dinner at the local "Country Club". There was a wedding going on there and being a small town, everyone and anyone was welcome to attend the reception. Jim said at one point there was a bidding on the garter (rather than throwing it) and the ranch guests were all bidding for it on Matt's behalf. Jim said Matt was mortified. Thankfully they were not successful. Jim said it was kind of fun to be a part of "small town" America.

Jim says they are leaving this morning (Sunday) for the actual place they will be staying for the next week. It is literally in the middle of no where, you even have to bring your own water in. Jim and Matt will be given horses today that they will use for the week. Jim said many people trailered their own horses there for this adventure. Except for 5 people, the others have all done this trip multiple times. Matt is the youngest. The next youngest is in his twenties, but he had been coming on this trip since he was 12.

The boys will go on an eight hour horse ride tomorrow (Mon). Tuesday and Wednesday are spent rounding the cattle up and Thursday and Friday are when they brand and vaccinate the cattle. Then home on Saturday.

I hope they have a great time. It will defineatly be a trip with stories. Jim and Matt started these boys trips 5 or 6 years ago and I think they have proven great for both of them.

Now, Lisa and I have had a much more relaxing (and less adventuresome) weekend so far.

Lisa had gym on Friday night (I can relate to Pam's schedule for Ashley and swimming. I only need to substitute Gymnastics for Swimming).

Yesterday, we went to the local spa and got our nails done. We ran errands and did our normal weekend responsibilities (laundry, grocery shopping, etc) Then we went and saw Pirates III. We both enjoyed it, despite all of the bad reviews in the paper.

Then we went out to dinner.

I was a nice girls day. Today I think we may attack Lisa's room.

Irene - Jim asked how your trip went. Please post details.

I hope you had a lot of fun.

Like Mary - Lisa and I keep saying, "Last year at this time, . . . . ." This morning last year we were on CC and we were parasailing.

It's about time for the DIS meet!!!

We'd be pulling away right about now and soon would be tears as we waved good-bye to GaRry yelling out "WE LOVE YOU GARRY" as we passed Jetty Park.
