Here you go....Put the prime rib in the oven at 500 degrees. 5 minutes per pound. Do not open the door. Turn off the oven after the 5 minutes per time. Do not open the door. Let the temp raise to about 129 degrees for Med Rare, 132 degrees for medium and then take out of the oven. Temp will raise another 10 degrees after it is taken out of the oven.

Total cooking time, about 1 hour 45 minutes. Best results received if you use a temp probe.

Thanks for the reminders Jim. I had the recipe printed from last year. The prime rib came out great. My parents like theirs cooked well done so we just sliced some off & put it under the broiler. MIL called today & asked if I would be fixing it for Mother's Day when she's here.

It's a little late in the day, but ...

Happy Easter!
We opted to go to early Mass this morning ... 7 AM. Church was full but no one was standing. My mom & I took naps this afternoon & left the men to take care of the kids.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Sorry I haven't been "around" lately. I've started working F/T and haven't been home during the day. I miss you guys!!! I hope everyone is doing well. We're all good. Right now we're on vacation in Park City, UT skiing. It's hotter here than in NY. We have gone to the pool everyday, except today. Saturday was 70 degrees, at least. We all have sunburn. Not any snow in town, but the slopes are OK. Ski in the morning, swim in the afternoon. The best of both worlds.

I'll try to check in more often.

Take care -
Maria

Glad it worked out for you. It's nice to have the family impressed with a simple meal! :cool1:

COLDEST DAY EVER for April.

And Cleveland got 1 1/2 feet of snow yesterday.

I'd better get Al Gore on the line! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

How exactly do the people in the global warming camp explain this stuff?

Good Morning All!

Still stuffed from yesterday's dinner - complete with three families' traditional dishes. 12 adults and 2 kids ate: jourec (phonetic spelling) of the traditional polish white sausage & broth soup; Two different kinds of traditional polish sausage; spinach salad, rolls, ham, lamb, pork roast, asparagus, sweet potatoes and pirogies (sp?). Then for the desserts: Key Lime Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, Cherry Pie, caramel brownies, fruit filled kolaches, poppy seed cake, a decorated lamb shaped cake, sugar cookies, and a few others...

One of the polish traditions we always participate in is an egg fight with hard boiled eggs. Everyone pairs off with eggs and taps each other's egg - the winner is the person with the egg who remains uncracked.

the 20 something "kids", mike, and maggie hunted for eggs. Each one also had a golden egg with a gift certificate inside.

it was a nice day with family, friends and great food.

Good Easter Monday All.....

A blessed Easter to you all as well.

We have been busy - church services Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday Morning.

Cleaning and egg dying on Easter Saturday, along with dinner with friends after the Easter Egg dying event.

Easter Sunday, church and breakfast with friends, picked up Mother and brought her to the house for "typical Easter meatloaf". Well, this was year 1.
It was what she wanted. And she now is old enough to get what she wants... We had lunch of starters, watched Peter Rabbit, and then the Masters, and then Easter, dessert and time to take her home after sunset...a full day. Dinner was meatloaf, noodles, mushrooms and gravy and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Starters were deviled eggs, what else, veggie tray, melon and turkey pastrami, salmon cups, potato salad, and sparking wine frm Japan (from EPCOT)...

It was cool here - 50 degrees, but I was thinking of you all up north - with the "snowbunnies" and frosted eggs. I was able to wear one of my nice, slightly warm, Easter outfits....

Saturday morning we had excitement - the utility dept. showed up to install a new water main relief valve and presto - cut our water supply.....this does not make cleaning easy. then we had to run water for 20 minutes to clear the line, but we are on water restrictions. I hated to waste it... Guess who did 3 loads of unanticipated laundry......:laundy:

One of our birds pulled out all its feathers when we were at WDW because it (she) wanted to nest....OK, so instant rebuilding the cage with a nest box and trimming....(pant, pant, pant) what time are the friends coming over for dinner, pant, pant,......good news is that the bird seems to be adjusting, now we wait to see if they grow back...I also ordered extra vitamins....Stacey, I need a cross fingers smilie... An angel for a little bird...

OK - back to work.

 We *just* learned that tradition yesterday!! My son's fiancee hosted Easter Dinner and taught us that game. My son Eric and his Grandma dueled to the end (they both have the science of how to hold the egg figured out!) - Eric beat Grandma!! :rotfl2:

Your food sounds wonderful - I got stuffed just reading about it! ;)

Stacey, congrats on that milestone!

Alicia is home today, in service or something. Seems like she's home lately a lot more than she is in school.

Extra crossed fingers for the birdie. ;)

It's George Bush's fault.................:stir: See, there you go!

Seriously, I think that there probably is a warming effect. The real problem as I see it, is the environmentalists are blaming mankind and specifically, the United States. While man does have an obligation not to damage our environment and control things the we do, including emissions, conservation and to limit the impact we inflict on the land. The fact the by living our lives and driving to work and taking Disney cruises (keeping it on topic) WE are to blame for the ENTIRE problem, is just not real or truthful!!!

back to your regularly scheduled program.......

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (and I either usually AM or someone usually DOES;) )....but doesn't Al Gore travel around spouting about Global Warming while using a private plane? Doesn't that seem a tad hypocritical?

Save energy, save the environment....fly commercial.

OK... fine... blame me... neither of my last two trips have been on commercial flights... guess I'm going to burn in Hell with AlGore... EEEKKK!!!! Eternity with Al... I'd rather gouge my own eyes out with an ice pick...

Okay, how 'bout this....not you personally, your company?

Oh my gosh. Do you know how hot hell is going to be with global warming in effect? As if it's not hot enough already. But the real question is, is hell part of this globe? Hmmmmm.....

I guess "when hell freezes over" is even LESS likely, huh? :rotfl2:

Karen....Ohminnie....or anyone.....do your kids have one of the Disney CD players? I got one...long story, but I got it because it takes two headphones and the adapter that I had bought for my own cd player didn't fit.
Anyway.....I can't get the top off to change the picture. I actually thought I could make it look a little less "Disney" if I just took the picture out altogether....since it's Jay and I who are going to share it on the plane.

Help...is there a trick to opening the top?

Can't help you. Come into the new century. Get an iPod. ;) :lmao:

Mike got some sort of headphone splitter, so it makes it so you can plug in two headphones. :)

Once I admit this part, you're really going to think I'm an old fogey. I bought us Bob Newhart's comedy routines on cd. We both like him. So the iPod wouldn't help us much there.

I did buy a headphone splitter, but it didn't fit into my cd player.

And....it doesn't matter about opening the top, because I lost my patience with it and broke it. :sad2:
