Karen....Ohminnie....or anyone.....do your kids have one of the Disney CD players?

Nope... can't help you. Sorry. I just won a new iPod nano 4G at our convention in New Orleans, but I haven't figured out how to move all my music off my current iPod to the new one... I messed something up when I tried to do it, and now I'm stuck.

I have a 'old' iPod Mini right now... its 4G too, but much larger... are we spoiled now or what... 1000 songs in the palm of our hand, and we still opt for SMALLER!!!!!

Once I admit this part, you're really going to think I'm an old fogey. I bought us Bob Newhart's comedy routines on cd. We both like him. So the iPod wouldn't help us much there.

I did buy a headphone splitter, but it didn't fit into my cd player.

And....it doesn't matter about opening the top, because I lost my patience with it and broke it. :sad2:
ah, but you can transfer your all your cd's onto the i-pod, depending on the size. I like Bob Newhart's routines too. But, I will see you your "old fogey" and raise you one more...I have two Old Time Radio Podcasts on my Ipod - with about 24 hours of radio shows stored in my library.

I didn't know you could do that. See, you can teach an old dog new tricks!
Jay would like those Old Time Radio shows too.

...oh yeah, as Karen said - they are much smaller - and you don't have to carry cd's to change in and out...

the apple website has the refurbished ones for about 40% less than the current generation. Fully certified, etc...etc...

I love mine - all my music, 5 audio books and several different podcasts and it's still not filled.

When I DO get an iPod, and someday I will...the kids will have to load it up for me.

Stacey, I've got one. It's Alicias hand-me-down. No one has ever offered to load it up for me, and thus it has gotten no use. If I were motivated, I guess I could figure it out. I was even excited about it, thought I could download some books on to it. Those books you can download are soooo expensive, though. I would rather read a book I picked up at Costco. Maybe when I'm old and can't see anything anymore...

With the wrong prescription in my glasses, and the headaches, I would have loved some books on tape! I hate not being able to read late at night.

in the slightly grey area of copyright - I usually just borrow the audio books from the library, transfer them and then delete when I am finished...Actually, I'm having fun with the podcasts. Loading up your library is more time consuming than hard.

I had a mini, but Mike got me an 80gig video iPod for Christmas. He used my mini after his 3rd generation click wheel died. But we swapped out for a new one at the Apple store for $70 so now he has a 20gig one again. :)

Kids each have an iPod too. KT has a 20gig, and Nick has a 30gig video. :)

We all LOVE our iPods. :) and our MacBooks. :)

We have an account with audible.com. $16.95 for two audio books a month (and they have thousands to choose from) I think it's a bit more than $17 now....I think we're grandfathered into the low rate.

But you get to keep them forever once you buy them. :)

Which ones do you listen to? I'm always looking for more to add to my list. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something and sometimes I'm not. :)

I know we've talked about this before, but if you're anything like me, your podcast list turns over every few months. :)

I usually don't blanket download Pediacast - I'll usually listen on the computer if there's a relevant topic to my kids' ages. I can safely skip the infant stuff ;)

I've got Dr. Floyd's audio and video - love it - I've finally caught up - Thanks for that suggestion - kids love it too!

Christian Comedy Podcast - the host is annoying but, there's a great sampling of Christian comedians. (less than 10 minutes)

NPR's "Wait, Wait don't tell me"
- current events "game" show.
Laugh cast and Old Time Radio Comedy - both Old Time radio shows -

and then - a bit more regional - a taste of home:

Official Cub's Central Podcast
WGNTV: Len & Bob's weekly Cubs podcast
Spike O'dell (WGN Radio)'s Podcast

John uses the Podcast for Running - couch to 5k in 6 weeks - he really likes it and the progressions have been kind to his knees. It's on mine - but, haven't used it, yet.

I'm going to have to catch the Christian comedy podcast. Sounds good. Sometimes all I need is 10 minutes of something. Then, of course, all I have downloaded is 50 minute shows.

You should make sure you catch the beginnings of Mike's shows. Those are my favorite parts. This week's banter was all about how we nearly spent the night at Wal*mart to get a Wii. ;)

NO WAY!!!! Thanks, Monica!
I just went to the Christian Comedy website and many of these people are the ones who are featured on the Bananas show.

Right off the bat I recognize the names Mike Williams, Daren Streblow, Bob Smiley, and TAYLOR MASON!!!!! and many more! :)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Alicia was laying in bed the other day, I thought she was sick. She was listening to a Harry Potter podcast. So I guess there are those as well.

Is that for one or two a month? You had your audible before us. You had your iPods before us. You had your Macs before us.....
and now you've corrupted us.
Btw, thanks. KT got her school computer about a week ago. Yes. Mac. ;)
And the Easter bunny brought them each a computer program from the Apple store.
It's like a bad addiction. ;)
