Good morning all.

OHMinnie, how is Jack doing? I don't understand all the medical terms. Are things as bad as it sounds?

Today is the memorial service for my coworker's husband. It will be a sad afternoon. He was only 58. I guess the real sad thing is that this probably could have been prevented. He had a heart attack when he was 43 but didn't like doctors. So, he hadn't been under the care of a cardiologist for all of those years.

Irene, congrats to your Gators. We aren't basketball fan so didn't watch any of it.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Ang

Hang in there Ang....we'll be thinking about you today.

Well, it's never good when you're in the ICU. ;)
Mike hasn't called today for an update. He'll probably do that around lunchtime.
He's definitely holding his own. Today they plan to wean his sedation and get him off the vent tomorrow. But sometimes when they wean sedation and kids wake up, they help the process along by fighting and pulling at things. :) Usually then it means they're ready!

Having worked in the ICU before, he's sick, but not HORRIBLY sick. There are kids in there much worse off, I'm sure! It's just weird for croup to get this bad. It happens, it's just very rare. Good think little Jack has the best pediatrician around! ;) ;) ;)

Thanks for asking. I'll let ya'll know when I hear something.

And his Doc.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Prognosis is still good, but he'll be there awhile longer.

Adding....there are a few very very bad complications, but they are extremely rare. But please pray that these don't happen. After all, this is an uncommon disease, and it's hitting at the "wrong" time of the year....so Jack has proven himself unconventional! ;)

Diana - back to your question with a little help from Ohio Minnie......

No, not a big DWTS or DWST fan....We watched the finals last year in St. Thomas only because:

1. We were tired from diving.
2. We had to go to bed without partying because we were diving the next day.
3. Emmit Smith was in the finals.....
4. (And to spare OM again), Emmit is a Gator.

Well, luckily Mike doesn't have to make any decisions right now. It's all been turned over to Children's Hospital docs (and right now the ICU intensivists) He is just calling as the primary to find out how things are going! I am SO thankful though that instead of just saying "oh he has croup, go home and do the steamy shower" that he decided to send him to Children's!

so what's the right time of year for an uncommon disease? Slightly tongue in cheek - but, curious none the less - this has been an enlightening discussion. How frightening for his family. He and his family has been in my prayers.

Watched a bit of DWTS waiting for the game to begin - 1st time watching - Sorry, don't get the appeal :confused3 Saw, Apollo, the star wars tango  Heather Mills, and Leeza Gibbons... Although, had to laugh at the camera quick close up from 3/4 to Leeza's face when she first moved to reveal her "inner tramp" :rotfl:

Kids were rooting for the Gators - both of their basketball teams were the Florida Gators this season. Made for easy rooting at the kids' games - I didn't have to keep the team names straight.

fall and winter. ;)

U TOP!!! my first in a long long time.....

pdfg and Baby Jack

Irene, that was close. Apolo is ON DWTS. And doing pretty well! Yes, I'm a sucker for reality shows with dancing. Dancing, Idol, and Survivor. That's it. Though I did watch Amazing Race until Rob & Amber got eliminated.

So, you must be a 24 fan? Just guessing until I get it right.

I spent a bit of time today thinking about & planning our summer 2008 vacation. Yes, I know, I'm sad. Looks like it's going to be California. Join the DIS cruisers at DL, and thought we might include some time in San Diego before, and then some college visits up north after, and maybe a couple of days in Napa. Then I realized that CA is really, really big, and if we're going to do all that we might need about three weeks. So I think it's going to be scaled down a bit.

Anyway, I'm going to have some extra points next year! Might have to think about banking and taking a cruise in 2009!

I'm a fan of both DWTS and Idol.

On DWTS I'm pulling for Ian and Joey. On Idol I'm pulling for Melinda and Blake.

It's Wednesday and today is full of fun stuff.

Breakfast with Lisa this morning. She was thinking Paneras, but it sure is nice out this morning so maybe the beach will be a better idea.

Today we get a new lawn. :woohoo:

Tonight Matt has an telephone interview for his summer job in Michigan.

No extra company to feed tonight. They are going to be in Orlando. We have 2 mid-20's girls staying with us for the last few days. They have been no problem. We don't see them in the morning. We see them at night we they stop by to change for the clubs. What a life. popcorn::

Have a good day!

update:

Jack was taken off of the ventilator 15 minutes ago. He had a little stridor (croupy breathing) and they gave him an epi-aerosol and he's doing well right now.

If he continues to do well, they will transfer him to the regular floor tomorrow (he must stay in ICU 24 hours after being taken off the vent b/c of his condition)

Here's hoping and praying the rest is downhill from here!!! I'm sure his mom is happy he doesn't have the tube and she can hold him again!
Thanks for the continued prayers!

I had no clue that Apolo was on dancing with the Stars.....got lucky there....

Try again.......

This is fun.....

California sounds like fun. We have toured and camped there and I would love to go back. The National Parks are wonderful and breathtaking...but I would like a NAPA tour, either on our own by car, or by bike where they cart your gear....I have taken everything I own on my back before (or in the case of a bike, in saddlebags)....Hedgie has a lot of hats, it is hard work.

And I have never (gasp) been to DL.....so I would like to do that, and the beach, but that requires a thicker wetsuit.

Lots to do, sounds like fun!!!! and Dis meets as well....
