I'm trying to get excited for our Jamaica trip... and its starting to work. We booked our catamaran excursion to Dunn's River Falls tonight, and got the last 4 spots available for the entire time that we're there. It should work out good... that's how we'll spend Ray's 40th birthday... which is the day after the wedding. Should be fun.
This week, I've got an unexpected trip to Tallahassee. Remember back in February, my boss had 'commandeered' (for lack of a better word) the mobile home park that got destroyed by the tornados, and coordinated the volunteer effort there, spent thousands on supplies for them, and provided over 1000 hours of manual labor between him, me, and a team of other employees to help get these people going again.
The Governor of Florida has a state "Points of Light" volunteer award... and was taking nominations for 'tornado heroes'... I nominated him, and he was chosen. He is one of these people who does sooooooooo much good in the community, and NEVER wants one ounce of recognition... so I didn't tell him til the call came in last night. So, Wednsday night, there is a reception for the 4 award recipients at the Governor's Mansion... should be an interesting event!
