I'm trying to get excited for our Jamaica trip... and its starting to work. We booked our catamaran excursion to Dunn's River Falls tonight, and got the last 4 spots available for the entire time that we're there. It should work out good... that's how we'll spend Ray's 40th birthday... which is the day after the wedding. Should be fun.

This week, I've got an unexpected trip to Tallahassee. Remember back in February, my boss had 'commandeered' (for lack of a better word) the mobile home park that got destroyed by the tornados, and coordinated the volunteer effort there, spent thousands on supplies for them, and provided over 1000 hours of manual labor between him, me, and a team of other employees to help get these people going again.

The Governor of Florida has a state "Points of Light" volunteer award... and was taking nominations for 'tornado heroes'... I nominated him, and he was chosen. He is one of these people who does sooooooooo much good in the community, and NEVER wants one ounce of recognition... so I didn't tell him til the call came in last night. So, Wednsday night, there is a reception for the 4 award recipients at the Governor's Mansion... should be an interesting event!

Ohminnie...continued prayers for Jack.....poor baby! (and poor Mommy and Daddy, how scary!)

I hope the girls liked the house!

If I learned one thing while lurking and occasionally posting prior to our "double scoop" cruise it was that this group always had an answer. So here goes a completely unrealted question if someone could point me in the right direction.

2 Weeks ago we lost a very close friend at 42yo to a brief but hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Her widower just planned a last minute trip to Disney for next weekend to keep his 4 kids (DS2, DS6, DS8 and DD10) occupied. Who can I notify at Disney to help make the trip a little easier for him? He has refused all financial assistance during the past 2 weeks and prior 5 month battle and would not want any freebies or discount. I just think he might not realize how difficult a trip like this can be with 4 kids those ages. Any idea who at Disney should know just to ease his stay. Should I just call his hotel (Beach Club) directly?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Jim

Thanks for the prayers and pixiedust for Jack. He was given a couple more epi aerosols at the outlying hospital and squaded to Children's. They direct admitted him to his room (bypassing the ER). So he's there now.

His poor dad....how conflicted he was.....baby in the ER.....Buckeye game on TV.....hmmmmm....

I would suggest calling the hotel directly, and explaining to them what this family has gone through....they might be able to make something special happen.
Otherwise, I don't know who to call.....perhaps our Florida friends might know?

Good morning everyone!

Was going to try to think of some clever April Fool's joke.....but that requires being clever and thinking. :confused3

I emailed the kids and told them we got a Wii.
Then reminded them what day it was.
In the meantime, my knee hurts, my ankle hurts and my gluts are screaming in pain. But I only played for an hour and a half this morning!!!

Off to get some Motrin.....

Mike's mom played a good one on Mike several years ago. She left a message on our voice mail saying: someone called her looking for Mike. Didn't say what she wanted, but left her phone number and name. Said it was pretty important that she speak with him THAT DAY....
she gave the phone number and then said her name was Mrs. Maines.

Then she adds: oh...her first name is Myra...M-Y-R-A. Give her a call as soon as you can.

So Mike calls the number and asks for MYRA MAINES....and the person on the line chuckled and said "ha ha ha....call the morgue and ask for my remains....funny. it's an april fool's joke."

HA HA HA HA HA :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That's just mean! But I might just tell Jared that I bought him a Wii....:lmao:

Virgil,

So sorry for your loss. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Computer been acting up or would have responded sooner. Deb

Actually, his beverage of choice is Zaya... a 12-year old Guatamalan rum. (ssshhhh... I know, that sounds like absolute blasphemy... but its true...)

Hope baby Jack is doing better, and that everyone survived their April Fool's pranks... none in our house... not sure anyone knows what the date is with all the coming-and-going that's been going on around here...

Went to the beach again today (no, Jim... we went to the OTHER end of the beach)... I love this time of year... not too hot, but great beach weather! I can't believe that we've been here almost 4 years!!!

Hmm, sounds like a job for the Dream Team. But I have no idea how to get hold of anyone there. I agree, calling the resort is probably your best bet.

Well.....

Mike called Children's today and Jack had a great night last night. Today he got a little tight, so they gave him another aerosol and another shot of steriods and he improved. They were talking about *maybe* sending him home this evening.

Just now Jack's grandma came over to update us. He was doing well. She was heading into the hospital to give mom a break. By the time she got there they were taking him to the ICU and putting him on a vent. Apparently he got very tight and had horrible stridor. He was working very hard to breathe. Now he's on a vent, sedated, and not fighting.....so that's good.

Thanks for continued prayers and pixiedust (I'm thanking you all in advance b/c I know you're all good for it!) ;)

It was perfect beach weather. We did not make it. Maybe we will have the time to go this weekend.

I'll try to get Sharon to go to a Sunrise Service on the Beach Sunday, but that will never happen. :surfweb:

Morning All!

Sam and I (and Hedgie) took the weekend off to visit Mickey at WDW...it is sooo pretty this time of year, many of the displays for Flower and Garden are already in place.

We dined at the Irish Pub, stayed at Coronado Springs and visited both AK and Epcot, for fun. the new Nemo musical at AK is wonderful. I highly recommend it.....We arrived 10 minutes prior to the 30 minutes prior showtime, and had a good spot to watch....the lines fill up fast.

Sunday was a bit of a bust as we woke up to a flat tire, nails - yuck.....Sam put the spare "fake" tire on and after Palm Sunday Mass, it was searching out a Tire Kingdom Store for a new tire, the old one could not be repaired....blah...

Ate an early dinner at DisxieCrosroads, where we had - yup - you got it - ROCK SHRIMP - yummy.

Uneventful drive home.

I hear there may be something to watch on TV tonight...:happytv:

Mike emailed me from work to tell me that he has a very very sick baby in the office. He has croup and is getting aerosols, epi aerosols, steroids and is probably going to be transported to Children's Hospital.

Then he drops the bomb and tells me it's our NEIGHBOR!

If you've got a moment, please say a prayer for baby Jack. :)

Thx!

Been off the boards, so I hope Baby JAck is better....
