Did you move to Ohio??? It's like that most days. And even if there isn't rain, there are thick clouds. Like now. 10:30 am, and thick grey clouds. Happy winter. Pass me my S.A.D. medication! ;)

oh yeah - I definitely am craving sunshine - I've been extremely grouchy - John even agrees! (I am so tempted to book that cruise on the 31st...)

Do it, do it, do it...........a year and a half to pay for it!!!:woohoo:

Hi BBB. I didn't read all that, but yes, we're disappointed too. Some are going on the Mexican cruise that week, some are going on an Eastern in April 2008, some are thinking they can't afford the new prices. Some day, some how, we hope to cruise together again. But I don't think we have any idea where or when that will be just yet.

LOL
Well, even though you didn't read all of my post you got the gist of it atleast. Or jist of it. Whatever.
:rotfl:
Doesn't look like Dec 15th is going to work out either because we didn't get room assignments- that reservation is gty for verandah room and inside stateroom. The travel agent is looking into getting room assignments- but if not, we're cancelling and getting a refund. I cannot wait until the last minute to end up with a verandah stateroom and then an inside stateroom clear somewhere else on the ship. Nope, no can do. (when June dates came out they were going to get us the inside stateroom across the hall from us)

:confused3 Don't know what we'll end up doing but it does not look good for another Disney cruise for a long long time. :sad2:

Shelly,
I am feeling about the same as you, in so far having the Magic gone for 2 summers....So I am trying real hard to get on for the repo home in August...that is still up in the air though...

FUNNIEST THING JUST HAPPENED!

I was trying to send a PM....and the Boards slowed to a dead stop. I refreshed the page, and then I got the little window that is supposed to say "RETRY" and a whole bunch of other stuff........only it was all in CHINESE!

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I just checked...nope, no PM.....

looky - a U-Top with Stacey.

We'd be totally okay with doing one of the 15 day cruises since our back to back June 2008 is not happening- but the problem is it's in May and August. Both would be times we'd have to take all 3 kids out of school for an extended (more than a day or two) time. So we can't even do that!

We're still up in the air about the Dec trip. The agent was able to get us verandah with inside across the hall but it's nowhere near what we wanted (and were going to try to get for the June 2008 dates once those came out). So I'm just not sure at the moment. It is very likely we'll just nix the entire idea of a Disney cruise- for many years. And that is totally depressing!

So for those that have done cruises in Dec- how cold IS it on the disney cruises in Dec? Jeff is saying it isn't going to be that cold but he's from Michigan. He's all NEVER cold here- while we're all freezing because we've lived our entire lives in this area of Texas! LOL So he's not one to talk to about whether something is cold or not. So how cold are we talking? Because I know here- if we have a day in the low 70's in the summer (which ofcourse is a rarity) we're definitely not feeling like going swimming or we'd be freezing. I imagined that even in that area- the weather would be 70's or low 80's (atleast) in Dec... right? My idea of a cruise is not bundled up in jackets and avoiding the swimming and beaches cause we're freezing- whether everyone else is or not. LOL

Shelley,
The school thing is an issue here as well. My kids go back the first week in AUG...I am booking the rooms on WEDS just in case, but more then likely I will be the only one going :-) See what a mean mom and wife I am?? I will be leaving everyone if it doesnt work out :-)

LOL!
I can't imagine going on a Disney cruise by myself. I don't see anything wrong in it but I just don't think I'd enjoy myself. I'm fine with a WDW trip by myself though- and have done so!
They also start like 2nd week of August here (sometimes earlier but never later than that) and at that time- my oldest would be starting highschool. I can't take her out for over a week in the beginning of her highschool years. *sigh*
I'm TEMPTED to take them out for the May cruise but they'd miss so much right towards the end of the year. I'm not sure about that. if it was like smack at the END of school (like the last week of May) then I'd do it.

I cannot even begin to describe how disappointed I am. Totally majorly bummed to the core. :( I'm even considering doing other cruises. I mean if I can't have Castaway Cay I can cruise elsewhere cheaper but I doubt I will ever bring myself to do that. I just don't know if we'll like other cruiselines the same. *so sad*

BBB,
I've been on a cruise in late November (11/30/03) December (12/18/04) and January (1/7/06) I did not freeze my butt off on any of them.

Ya make do with what you can. The perfect conditions for a cruise will NEVER ever occur.

I was on a cruise (9/4/05) that had beautiful weather. But we couldn't return to Port Canaveral b/c of hurricane Ophelia. There was a guest services line a mile long with everyone complaining and whining about having to change flights, and their car still parked at PC, and how they wouldn't get to WDW until later than they expected (I think Port Everglades was 3 hours from WDW instead of the normal 1 to go from PC to WDW) None of the big whiners and loud complainers were DISers, I'm thankful to say. The line was filled with people who were miserable and wanted to make everyone else miserable around them b/c they didn't get what they had bargained for. I just thought "Come on, you're on a freaking CRUISE SHIP. Make the best of it and make lemonade out of lemons!!!!" Sorry, but I'd rather be on a cruise ship sailing into the wrong port than at home doing laundry!!!!

No cruise you go on will every fit every single one of your conditions. Make the best out of a cruise that DOES exist. :) Your family will learn flexibility and how to roll with the punches. :) They are good qualities to possess. :) :)

Hey I was on that cruise too! Small world! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Of course we have to remember our December 04 cruise where it was cold and windy on CC day and we couldn't do any excursions because the nets were all down. So you just never know.

Having done 2 Norwegian cruises and one Princess, I can definitely say that, yes, there is a difference between them and Disney....but if you really like to cruise, and you like to see different places with the convenience of a cruise, then the other cruise lines are still good for that.
My kids actually liked NCL just as much (maybe more than) Disney.

I'll tell you what, Shelley, if I lived in Texas, I'd save a bundle on airfare, and cruise one of the lines that goes out of Houston or Galveston.....

Yeah, but that didn't ruin the cruise for me. I still had a great time. And it was still warmer than Ohio! :) (who was being pummelled by a snow storm right around then!)

I never even looked at the ships that cruise out of Texas...are they the larget type ships? For some reason, I have always assumed it was the smaller ships leaving from Texas...I dunno maybe its just me but I dont exactly think of "texas" when I think cruise! LOL

The Norwegian Sun that we were on was bigger than the Magic. The Dream was smaller, but we wanted something smaller.
I like cruising out of there because it doesn't take us all day to get there, and it's cheaper. Cheaper flights, cheaper cruise.

Oh...duh...the Sun went out of New Orleans...but still.......

We'd like to try Royal Caribbean one day. Jared especially wants to.

Here's a little food for thought as I head out to dinner....

You know how puppies and kittens (and babies!) are so cute when they're little, they're almost irresistable??
Did you ever think that maybe that was a marketing ploy made by God?

:scratchin
