This was our weekend for Candlelight at WDW - It has become a traditonal start to the Christmas season for us. A magical time before the rush of the season truly starts. However, with less than 48 hours it is hard to do everything.
We looked for you all but did not see anyone we knew. We saw a few with green DIS buttons, but heading, with a purpose, the other direction. By the time the mind registered - hey disser, they were gone. Thought I saw a MouseFest banner, but not sure. Thought I saw Mark, but alas no.
We did see the Osburn lights - a first for us since they were moved from the back lot. We were on the tram at 6:35 as they were saying the Park closed at 6:30, but were able to get in and went to NY street for the dancing lights. They ran the show until about 7:15 - so we had the time to see everything and the side streets. We also picked up the Litho, I was surprised we were able to do so as I thought the shop was closed. A nice touch.
Then to Ragland Road - I had made reservations but we ended up sitting at the bar and enjoying the live band and dancing.....Hedgie was willing to get up on the table, but not me.
Saturday was a slow start. The cable was showing old Max Fleischer series. How surprising. Then off to Epcot to catch a few story tellers, and presents. Back to the hotel to relax and change for dinner at Canada.
Our server was so nice and helpful, you wanted to visit right away. The food and wine were delicious as usual. Sam had the mushroom Fillet and I had the shrimp - yum. But too much food as we had appetizers first, I had crab and salmon and he had mussels.....No room for dessert for me, but I squeezed a small scoup of Huckleberry ice cream.
Then came the bill....oops...Service 10+, Food 10, Management response to question on DDE (ok, it is Christmas, I will be charitable)....
Suffice to say that management would not accept the DDE card for our extras (It does not apply to the Candlelight package, or tax or tip, not a problem there). Manager blamed Disney. So, despite the holiday spirit we decided to ask at the pavillion. Well, they could not have been nicer. Three words out of my mouth and they were on it. We chatted with the other cast members and learned about the shuttle launch time. And who worked where at the MK. And yes, we received a refund.
Then, it was time to stand in line for Candlelight - We were backed up quite a bit but had seats right in the front. What can I say? WOW! The conductor was Jung-Ho Pak - he was superb! What a joy to watch him conduct. And Steven C. Chapmen was spectacular. We have heard hime before.
Then, around the 9th or so song, clapping....and shouts (what is going on, Disney never plans other events in earshot of Candlelight - ahh, says the brain, the shuttle.....
Epcots Christmas fireworks were amazing.
The next morning Church, did not see Mark/Mary or Bear - and a quick lunch at Rose and Crown before heading home.
Now I need to drive across the state...Later...
