Gee, I don't think I heard that one before. Well, if some dropped lines mean "bad" then it went horribly! :) The author was there....and the director said she'll probably want to make some changes!! AT THIS STAGE? Hello??? This is all in muscle memory for these people. You can't change it now!! He'll tell everyone tonight, right before the show, what needs to be changed :earseek:

The homeless kids were perfectly behaved. For a group of twelve kids it was amazing. I kinda cringed when they sat in the two rows in front of us. But you'd never have known they were there!!! But they left at intermission b/c it ws 8:45 and the bus was waiting to take them...somewhere. That's really sad. They didn't even get to see how the story ended. :(

I'm astounded that the director would try to do that! No way!

And what a shame for those kids. Someone didn't plan that very well. It was such a nice treat for them to be able to go, but then to have to leave early! Geesh!

Tell Nick to BREAK A LEG!!!
Preferably, one of the Director's...if he tries to change the lines now!!!!

Hey Nick- nice hair... break a leg tonight!!! (Not the GarRy or Stacey version of 'break a leg', though...)

HEY! :confused3

Hope you feel better today!

Nope, no chicken comb injections yet....wating for the insurance company to pre-certify......gotta love that. I just want to be done with them before our trip at Christmas, and we still have a little leeway on that.

Sharon's husband is home from the hospital, and walked down to our shop to say hi to Jay yesterday. He's doing really well.

The doctor told my Dad that they don't need to treat him for the virus. He'd apparently had it years ago, and the spots on the lung are scars from back then. He must have fought the virus off himself. Now they just need to keep an eye on his cancer numbers, waiting to see if they continue to rise. There really isn't any way to tell where the cancer may have spread, though. It's just a "wait and see" kind of thing.

HA HA HA!! Yeah! But it's not up to the director, really. The author has final say. Although I'd think the director could say "hey, listen, we can't change it at this point....but now you know what to change for your edit of the script before it's published." :)

Just hope they don't change too many of Nick's lines.

You know how those "creative" types are.....not a lick of good sense. Writers and artists....I guess in order to do what they do, they can't be based in "the real world".
Now me....I haven't a creative bone in my body. No imagination. It's all black and white to me.

Here is a cute page of theatrical superstitions....no clue if it is the authroity or not...but cute http://lecatr.people.wm.edu/theatrical_superstitions_and_saints.html

A BAD DRESS REHEARSAL WILL MAKE A GREAT OPENING

Then there's that saying that "a bad dress rehearsal will equal a good opening night." Me, I think that started with a producer who had a show underway that had an absolute disastrous dress. Not knowing how else to build morale, the producer glibly invented a quick excuse: "Well, you know the old saying that a bad dress guarantees a great show!" And that propaganda is hauled out by its hind legs everytime a dress rehearsal goes down the tubes. Plah! As far as I've seen, a cruddy dress most often will mean a cruddy opening; a potent dress rehearsal, on the other hand, builds confidence and morale and it is a marvelous high leaping off place for growth that will follow.

Antother list - compliaments of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatrical_superstitions

Along with other little known superstitions.

No real money should be used on stage.

It is considered unlucky to wear real jewelry on stage, as opposed to costume jewelry.

It is bad luck to complete a performance of a play without an audience in attendance, so one should never say the last line of a play during rehearsals.

A company should not practice doing their bows before they feel they deserve them.

Gifts such as flowers should be given to actors after a show, as opposed to before.

No wearing of green unless absolutely necessary.

The color blue is considered unlucky, unless countered by wearing silver.

HAVE A GOOD DAY ALL AND REMEMBER...

THE PLAY IS THE THING!

Interesting page! :) I will avoid going in with my comp ticket tonight before a PAYING customer goes in. :)

Also, this is interesting....KT was on the set and she said "hey, the ghost light!" And I said "HUH?" She proceeded to tell me they learned in an acting camp that every theater has a ghost light. I asked why and she told me it's a superstition---it stays on all night to keep the ghosts out of the theater

And here it is:
THE GHOST LIGHT

Many theatres have ghosts, according to resident theatre personnel who will tell you they’ve seen or heard uncanny visitors, and some insist that to ward off bad luck spirits there must always be a “ghost light” illuminating the stage when it is not in use. It is turned on as the actors and crews leave and burns all night. If the stage is dark, the superstition has it, ghosties can run free. Or perhaps we leave a light on so they can perform.

To me, the reason is less ghostly and more a statement of intense belief: we must be sure that concrete light always is on so that the metaphorical light of the theatre never will disappear. "Dark," let us recall, refers to a time when there is no show (i.e., "We perform Tuesday through Sunday, but Monday is dark"). We want our art never to become "dark" but instead to remain brightly alive.

Of course there also is a practical reason for that light on stage: a large number of items come and go on the stage as a show is prepared, and the place can get downright cluttered, so a light helps protect against accidental falls when someone stumbles around in the dark—or (more importantly??) prevents accidental damage to the set.

Hopefully green tie-dye doesn't count as one of Nick's costumes is a green and yellow tie-dye shirt. :)

Sad news for your fellow workers GaRRy...
"Three firefighters have been killed and two critically injured battling a wildfire near Palm Springs, California, the U.S. Forest Service says. The firefighters were trying to protect a house when the flames swept in. "... With wind conditions like they were, the fire just overtakes and burns the entire engine," a U.S. Forest Service spokesman said." from cnn.

Just got back from getting my flu shot. I hadn't gotten one the last two years, and ended up getting sick. Hope this helps a little. Felt sorta silly...I was by far the youngest one in line.

You all may have already seen this, but copied off the main cruise thread from Webmaster John:

Hey Folks

Just received an official communication stating that DCL 2008 sail dates will be available for booking in early November.

My guess is that we will see most, if not all, of the 3 and 4 night sailings (and 7-night land/sea cruises) available at that time and 7-night sailings only through the end of April 2008. Going by what happened last year we may not see summer 2008 sailings (and any itinerary changes) released until early 2007.

John

Thought you all might find that interesting. I am going to be watching this. I may just go ahead and book a 4-night in the summer and then wait to see what comes out for the 7 nighters. Then I will have something and can always move the deposit over to the other one.

Don't feel "silly" - I get one every year and I NEVER get the flu!!! :yay:

Tori and I both got our's last week. Rachel (my 21 y/o "baby!") won't get one because she doesn't like needles!! who does?!!! Dwight always says he'll get around to it, but never does :confused3 I'll bet he's afraid of needles!!! :rotfl2:

Hi everyone!

First of all had a fun, but far too short cruise!

There's a trip report here=====> CLICK HERE

Thanks for the DCL booking news Pam!

On that vein.... What would you all think about having some of the DVC member cruisers join our merry ranks? A good number did a placeholder rebook onboard to be able to book a 2008 date and get the discount. A lot of them thought it was too short too! I was thinking, since their goals and ours are lining up they might want to jump in.

I'd have to say that if someone said they LIKED needles, I'd be a little worried about them!
I turned my head and tried to relax my arm as much as possible. It's starting to get sore now, though. Better a sore arm than a miserable flu!

Jim, how was your trip to Ohio? I'll tell you, the day came and went so fast for me. Just today I remembered you'd be in town. Was the weather nice for you? Cold, but no rain, if I remember correctly. :)

It was really fast and cold. Walking out of the airport on Monday night was a shock to the system. We were in meetings all morning on Tuesday looking at the grey sky. It made me remember why we moved to FL......Sunshine.

I had lunch on our porch at the office...birds singing, blue sky, 75 degrees. Sorry, but you can have OH. I like sunshine! :rotfl:

Just curious .... why didn't you all start over?
