Virgil--Do ER doctors usually send out bills for their services? We got one from some company on behalf of an ER doctor that treated our son one night when he couldn't breath. We paid our hospital co-pay and our insurance paid the rest but we get this bill in the mail, so should I pay it or is it a scam? This is the first time we had this happen where we got bill by someone other than the hospital. (not like we make it a habit to go to the ER, we've been twice)

Thanks for any info you might have.

UGH! That happened to us when Mike went in for a heart attack/cancer/stroke/neuropathy/panic attack.....
I got the bill from OSU and thought "well, that's not SO bad, I expected it to be worse."
And then came the ER doc bill.
And then came the Radiologists Bill.
And then came the CDU docs bill (he had to stay overnight in the observation unit)
And then came the docs bill who read the results of his thalidamide stress test.
Geesh!

I am thinng of topics for Mike's column - You know - "like why do parents treat their kids like dogs" (when I see them on a leash)

Ah, yes. Spoken like a true person who does not have kids. I, admittedly, used to have this feeling. And then I had kids. Well, not a big deal for KT b/c she was always very small and easy to pick up and carry anywhere--so we never resorted to the leash. But I remember the day we bought Nick the leash. He was about 20 months old, into running, and we were going to a big pioneer craft show in a wooded area (think rolling hills, dirt and tree roots) A place that was TOTALLY inappropriate for a stroller. The leash was the only option.

We didn't use it all the time. Only those times when his DASH-N-RUN technique could prove dangerous. And we didn't use it long. Only until he was able to process the fact that running away was bad. But at 20 months, running was a game and it was fun to see mom and dad's reaction.

I did notice two distinct types of people when we used the leash. The one set scowled at us and made comments under their breath about us "treating our kid like a dog." The others smiled and nodded and made some comment directly to us about what a "lifesaver the leash was." Without fail, we'd encouter these two types of peopld.

I WISH more ppl at WDW would stick their kdis on leashes. Maybe the backs of my legs could heal from all of the strollers that have jammed into them!! :lmao:

Another belief that I had pre kids that has changed post kids: "My house will NEVER look like this." Always said after Mike and I (pre kids) left the house of friends who had kids.

Another belief: "I will never just stick my kids in front of the TV to get 30 minutes of peace and quiet." :lmao: :lmao:

Yes - they normally do. But it should be covered by your insurance. Most ER docs are members of a local group - or a larger group - and they bill independently. Make sure that they have your insurance information. You should not have to pay another co-pay.

We never did use the leash.......instead we used the invisible collar! Molly is still wearing Matt's old collar. :rotfl2:

In fact, we are still using the invisible collar on the kids.....just different types!

Well - off to the World for a couple of days. Since Frances is lounging on the Wonder - Lauren and I are heading to WDW when I pick her up from school today. We'll be staying at the VWL (our first time there). Jason flew in from England yesterday and is already at WDW - he stayed on my points last night at SSR. Kristin is flying down in the morning. We have tickets for MNSSHP tomorrow night - so we're really looking forward to the trip. The Scubas are coming over on Saturday - and we have dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon - should definitely be a rowdy time....

I heard from Frances via phone yesterday - they had a great time in St. Johns - and then ate at Palo last night. Then they retired to the Walt to eat chocolate covered strawberries and drink Banfi. Today is St Lucia and whale watching....

PDFG and for everybody else that needs it....

Take care!

What? You buy Dale's gas? I want to come back as a teenager in your house!!

Yes -- and I won't let him work right now while he is in school. He has such a hectic schedule between band and school. He is in all AP or Pre-AP classes and is in band at least 3 hours per day either before or after school and then there is the 4-5 hours of homework on top of that. Now that he has been accepted into the youth orchestra, that is even more practice time. Unfortunately, there is no extra time for a part-time job.

Yes, I to want to be a teenager now. I had a pt job in high school. Of course I wasn't in advanced classes and I didn't do a sport, oh well.

Virgil
Garry, Karen, Virgil-thanks for the confirmation. I guess I will write out that check this week.
Hope everybody has a good weekend.

I want to thank everyone for all the Pixie Dust & Prayers. It has been one long, horrible nightmare of a week. I feel so sad for myself, but it is so much harder on my sisters' husband and two daughters. My sister Debbie was a beautiful person- a teacher for 30 years- and an inspiration to so many others. There were no less than 50 of her students & former students at her Services.
Disney was just wonderful to me. They took over and had me home in less than 8 hours. Even in my shell-shocked state- I was aware of their caring, concern, and empathy. They took over for me and guided me on my way.
Stacey, Diana, Vicki, & Francis- even though I traveled with you all for such a short time- I knew I was among 'friends' and would have had a wonderful time. Maybe we can try this once again some day.
Thanks for everything- once again Sharon

Sharon - I'm sure this week has been a very very hard one on you and your whole family. Good to hear that Disney made things just a little easier for you. May God welcome your Sister home and may he bless the rest of your family and help ease your pain.

The day is finished - started with driving ds to church at 7:30 for the jr. high beach clean-up day. His was the easiest schedule he just needed to be picked up at 2:00 - dd had nutcracker rehearsal, soccer game and musical rehearsal all scheduled during 11-3 on opposite ends of town.

Last weekend while I was in Dallas, John whined he put 150 miles on his car just running kids around - welcome to my world!!! :lmao:

ds just left with a friend for a kids' night out at the local martial arts place. dd and I are joining the rest of the other family at a local mexican restaurant. I think I hear a margarita calling my name!!!

Hope dh is enjoying his day in Alaska - they were supposed to take a plane ride today if the weather is nice. I guess tomorrow's menu is crab and hallibut. Meanwhile, We're having Sonic...

We are at Wilderness Lodge meeting with Virgil and crew.

Lisa and Loren are at MK. Matt, Kristian, and Jason are at Wide World of Sports watching College Football. Sharon is in the hottub. Virgil and I are drinking wine.

Everyone is doing what they enjoy!!!:thumbsup2

Tonight we have dinner at Whispering Caynon. Since it involves food I'm pretty sure the kids will all show up. :rotfl2:
