HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ALL......

.

That was so nice of Hedgie to give him a Nexton dive trip for Father's Day!!! :rotfl2:

Matt just sent us his weekly email. He did not send us an email last year so it is great to see what he is doing one a day to day basis this year. I guess this would be his "Live Thread"
Sorry but this one is over twice as long as my last one.

Sunday 6/11: I awoke earlier than anybody else did this morning so I decided to watch the 7 o'clock soccer game. After that I thought that I needed to get ready for church, but ever since the break in on Friday the mother has wanted somebody at the house at all times. Therefore, this morning I had to stay home while everybody else went to church. I watched the rest of the soccer game and made myself some pancakes for breakfast. When the came back home I told them I needed to go out for a while, they said ok but that I needed to be home for lunch by three. That was ok with me and I asked why where we having lunch so late, they said we were going to a local restaurant called Rosti Pollos. I knew how to get there from the mall so I said I would walk, that was fine with them. So I left for the mall and did something's but made sure not to eat anything. I ended up watching X-Men 3, the movie was ok but I did not see the first two X-Men movies. After the movie, I called the sister to make sure every thing was still as planed; it was so I walked to Rosti Pollos and waited. I ended up waiting for 1.5 hours then I decided to call the house and the daughter to find out were they were. Nobody was at the house and the sisters cell was busy. So I waited for another half hour than decided to call her cell one last time, it was still busy so I left. When I got home I called again and got through this time, they just got to the restaurant and said they would wait until I got there before they would start eating. When I got there, the already eat but saved me a piece of cold chicken, but I did get desert a desert called tres leches (three milks). I asked the sister when we got home why was her line busy and her reply was "I was talking to a guy" and why did the family start to eat with out me? "I forgot to tell them and I was so hungry". Then her question for me was "are you angry at me?" and I replied "no I am happy to be cold, wet (it was raining and I had to walk to the restaurant), tired, and hungry!". I guess she did not get the joke because she said good then went and called the guy back.
Monday 6/12: I awoke at seven this morning a half hour latter than normal and for breakfast I had gallo pinto (rice and beans), ham, eggs, and orange juice. Today my teacher asked what trip I wanted to take and I replied that I wanted to see the USA vs. Chech Republic game. From eight to ten we worked on preterit imperfect or past imperfect. I thought with it being imperfect that it would be hard but it turned out that it was very easy. Then at ten, we went to the snack bar and bought snacks and drinks in preparation for the game. We watched the first half and he told me to pay very close to the commentary. Not knowing why I did, then at the half we muted the television and did a worksheet on the lesion from the morning. Then I went to turn the volume back on when the second half started but he told me to keep it muted and I asked then how was I suppose to hear the commentary. His response was you are going to give the commentary. It was very hard but it got me to work on my verbs and putting them into the past tense. Which was exactly what we worked on that morning, but the USA lost 3-0, the lose was not unexpected but they got humiliated. After the game I asked what days does he have classes at the university in the afternoon. He has classes everyday except Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so I asked what would he think about doing a rafting trip on a weekend. He said that sounded fine and that I just needed to speak with school owner. She said that was a great idea and that I should book trough her because she gets a discount. After school I came home and had lunch with consisted of rice, chicken, lemonade, vegetables, and bread. I did my homework and had the mother look it over she made a few changes here and there but said I did great (in Spanish, she speaks no English). Then she left and I did some research on the trip and emailed my dad to see if it was ok with him. He said it was a great idea and was wondering if he could come. It looks like we will be doing a three-day rafting trip. Then I took a nap to only be awoken an hour later by the dog barking at my sister coming home. I did not want to just sit and watch television, so I played a little soccer with the neighbors and than came home. I then decided that I wanted to go out for a night on the town, I went to the local ice cream parlor and bought myself some ice cream and then walked around down town San Pedro. That is quite a bustling city at night, my house it at the bottom of a hill. So on the way back home I stopped at the top of the hill to look out at the surrounding moutons. That was a sight I will never forget, those mountains were light up beautifully by the houses. After coming home I had a light dinner and watched Cheaper By The Dozen 2 and than finally went to bed.
Tuesday 6/13: I awoke up late today, so I needed to get ready for school and eat breakfast in half an hour. In school today we talked about the rafting trip that was set for the 30th of June through the 2nd of July. The weekend before the trip, I will be spending four days in Nicaragua with the family. The instructor and I also worked on reading the newspaper in Spanish, than giving a summary of it. At ten we took a break form school and watched the first half of the France vs. Ivory Coast soccer game. Then we went back to school stuff. After school I was needed back at home again because the mother still is scared that somebody will break into the house if nobody is at the house. So I have to do it for what looks like every day, which means I have to come strait home after school, eat lunch, do home work, and find something to do in the house for the rest of the night. I cant leave at night any more because so kid was kidnapped last night and she is afraid that I could be to, so she wants me to be with her if I have to leave at night. She is only 5 foot 2 inches and weight 110 pounds, she is not very intimidating unless you don't do your homework then she is just terrifying. Because the mother does not trust the sister because all she does is come home, watch tv, and talk to boys so she is oblivious to everything else. So today since I had no homework I napped, eat, and watched the 3rd and final soccer game of the day. Just now the whole family was happy watching tv and in rushes the sister grabs the remote and changed the channel because a cute soccer player was on the tv. Now am of to bed because I am bored and it is only 8:15!!
Wednesday 6/14: This morning for breakfast I had all you can eat pancakes provided by the mother. I then went to school and the instructor and I started a new topic with consisted of subject and predicate. It was quite easy because I had already learned about this, but in English. During our break at ten my instructor took a nap and I got the final information on the rafting trip like what time they will pick us up and where at. After the break we went back to Spanish lessons. After school I came home to have lunch and to find that one of the collage students that is staying with us was back form his trip. So since he was just going to relax and watch tv, I asked if he mind watching the house he said no. So I had he afternoon off to do what ever so I played some soccer, went to see the movie Two for the Money. The movie was ok but nothing special, after the movie I got some ice cream and took the bus home. On my walk home from the bus stop I stopped again at the top of the hill to look at the mountain, since it had just stopped raining. When I got home the family ordered pizza for dinner, we had a pineapple with mushroom pizza and a ham with sausage pizza. Those pizzas were gone real fast with two collage students, two high school students, and two older women all eating them. After dinner we watched the Spanish versions of dancing with the starts and singing with the stars. Tomorrow school wont start until ten but will go until two because Coast Rica is playing at seven in the morning. So tonight I will be staying up latter than normal.
Thursday 6/15: I got up at 8:30 to watch the second half of the Costa Rica vs. Ecuador soccer game. Costa Rica got humiliated 3-0 and the whole country was sad/mad the whole day, because now Costa Rica has no chance at making it in the top two of its' group and make it to the playoffs. School started at ten and we started to work on indirect and direct complements, which on consisted of how to reposition and shorten them to make the sentences "simpler". Then at noon, we went to the university to pick up a friend of my instructor and have lunch. For lunch, I had rice, beans, fried bananas, a salad, some fish, and a coke. After lunch we went back to school and continued to work on indirect and direct complements, then he assigned homework. After school, I walked to the university's sport complex to run because I had not done that in a while. I don't know how far I ran but I did run for forty-five minutes and it felt very good to burn some calories and just run. Than it started to rain again, so I decided to come home and do my homework. When I got home, I found that I was the last one home, which was a first for this trip. For diner we had some bread with butter, rice, chicken and gravy, and water or wine (everybody except me). Tonight we just played monopoly and they mad me be banker to help me with my numbers, which was a lot of fun to do. Today on the bus, I made some calculations like that this summer I will go to five countries (U.S.A, Bahamas, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua), five states (Florida, Washington, Alaska, Illinois, and Michigan), and that I will spend twenty eight hours flying this summer. I just went to the pharmacy, for medication. The pharmacies here in Costa Rica are the coolest thing, you do not need prescriptions and you buy by the pill, so if you want just to two pills you buy just two pills.
Friday 6/16: This morning for breakfast I had pineapple and bread with butter, the mom had to leave early for work and did not make breakfast. In school we had two professors from the Illinois and they were to observe how my professor taught the class. I have never seen my professor smile some much as after they left, because I was on fire and did not get a question wrong and asked great questions. Then a ten we went to the Plaza del Sol (Plaza of the Sun) to watch the soccer game and to buy a book for my flights because I have already finished the book I brought down, but I did not find any books I liked so we got lunch and watched the soccer game. After school I decided to walk to the mall because, it was a nice day and I found an internet café were they serve food and the internet in half of what I paid at the mall, but with the same connection speed. Then I took the bus home and did part of my homework and tried to set of plans for this weekend but they fell trough so it looks like I will just be doing some things around here, like swimming, going to the National Park of Fun, and playing soccer (hopefully). Next I went to play soccer, we played four on four with 3 teams. The first team to two goals won and the loser had to leave, but while playing I strained a muscle so I am now limping around the house. Tonight for dinner we are have rice, beef, beans, and some Panamanian soda, while we eat we will watch the movie I Robot. The daughters' chemistry homework is next to the computer and as I look at it was exactly what I did this year. How is she going to collage next year?
Saturday 6/17: This morning I had the privilege to a screaming sister because some "cute" soccer player was playing and scored a goal. After that episode, I had eggs and ham for breakfast. Then I watched the U.S. vs. Italy soccer game at ten. After the game, the mom wanted to go running with me I said I had strained a muscle last night but it seamed like the rest last night had made it go away. She said that a light jog on it would be fine, so went for a "jog" which consisted of walking to the running track and running two laps (1/2 mile), than walking home. I then finished my homework and had lunch. Lunch was tacos and the last of the Panamanian soda. After lunch, I went for a swim at an Olympic sized pool a half hour away. The water was nice and warm and it felt good to swim again, I had not been in a while. Than when I got home, I played some soccer, because my muscle felt good the whole day. After my shower, the daughter and I went shopping for the food for tonight's dinner. I found out that they want me to cook chicken Marcella before I go home, I will probably do that in two weeks. We are having some family over tonight for dinner because they wont be able to come to lunch tomorrow with the rest of the family. I just found out today that I will be making chicken Marcella tomorrow for dinner.

I'm being lazy, too!! Adding this:

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to FATHER OF BEAR and the SMOOTHIE BOY!
And to FATHER OF HEDGIE!

For a teenage boy to write that much, I figure he must be lonely. Sharon, when you talk to hime (Jim, too) tell him we all said "Hi".

Stacey -- why are you having to spend the day in the closet?? Are you still trying to get organized after the cruise like I am? I spent most of the afternoon yesterday packing away the suitcase and such and finally got everything washed and put away.

The longest bar in my closet broke right after we got home from the cruise. I've been living with clothes piled everywhere until Jay could make a new one, and our carpenter friend could make new support brackets.
So I've been going through and throwing things away. I decided it was about time. My criteria for disposal:
1. If I haven't worn it in 19 years (we moved in in 1987) then it goes.
2. If it won't fit on my pinkie finger, then it goes.
3. If I never wore it because it was ugly, and time hasn't made it any more attractive, then it goes.

Five large trash bags and counting.

I was thinking the same thing, although, OMG that was the longest paragraph I think I've seen.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sounds like Matt is doing fine. Maybe not eating as much as he would like and having to put up with at teenage "sister" but fine!!

I was going through my pictures and thought this was funny.

Hi Thea. If it's been less than 40 seconds since your last post, you'll fit right in!

Kevin is washing his own truck for Father's Day. He offered to let Alicia do it, but she let him. We did take him to breakfast, and have a movie planned for this afternoon. "Nacho Libre", sounds right up his alley, doesn't it? He got a call from one son this morning, the one working on the oil rig in the Gulf, so that made him happy.

Yes, Matt sounds a little bored, and a little lonely. I love that he remembers everything he eats. But it does sound like he's working on his Spanish! Maybe he will want to stay home next summer, though, especially if you take him rafting somewhere, and promise some scuba diving. And all he can eat.

Happy Birthday to Steve and Maria!!! I hope you have a great day!

And Happy Father's day to all those that applies to. :)

Stacey you're going on the 11 night cruise in Sept too? To all those going on that cruise... I'm jealous!!!!!!!!! Wish I was going to be there with ya. *pout* Have lots of fun!

Thanks to everyone who wished me well today. It's going pretty well so far. Augie dug 2 holes for the new front porch stairs and I am doing laundry. Too exciting, huh? I'll be you're all jealous. Nah!!

We ARE going out for dinner though. I-talian food. My favorite. It's about 95 degrees out today. Thank goodness for our new central A/C.

Chow for now.

You know...he told me that when he posted his "thank you" for his birthday wishes, that what he really wanted to say was:

Thank you all so much for the lovely birthday wishes. It was a pleasure to spend a week with all of you, onboard the Disney Magic. I have never met such caring, friendly, enjoyable people in all my life.
I miss you all already, and cannot wait for the time when we cruise together again.

You just have to learn to read between the lines! ;) :rotfl:
