We would prefer the June date. Late May doesn't work well with Mark's gardening. :flower3:

The 10 dayers can chime in, but if we wanted to keep more information up to date I could do a monthly newsletter again. I did this for the 10 day cruise. I put it up on the website, but then e-mailed everyone a reminder on the first of the month when the new ones went up.

We also celebrated birthdays and anniversaries in it.

I was a little too burned out from the 10 day to do it for this cruise, but could start it up for a new one once we book.

Definately hope that GaRry and his family can join us in 2008!

I have now read backwards to Mary's post - that is fitting, to find out what all the excitement was last night.......Oh, Good Morning.....

Reading this set of posts backwards was hard, as I was looking for an actual date....So let me see if I can chime in here.

Mary, the above offer is wonderful, woudl you really do that?

We re-ooked on board so we could move to a 2008 cruise in late May - Early June is alos a posibility....we need to balance being away from home during hurricane season, but June is still pretty safe.

PORTS -- all of you with those surveys to fill out (we did not get one) - how about ading a special EASTERN Cruise for 2008, where we can visit one of the Crhistmas ports insteade of Key West????

On an Eastern Cruise...I found diving in St. Thomas so nice we are going back in November this year.....Did not dive in St. Maarten, will need to defer to Sir Scuba or Kevin ( he needs a title too) for recommendations....As for me, yes a ok day of diving with Disfriends beats lots of stuff inlcudingwork, which by the way I am supposed to be getting ready to do -- traveling again today.....(Work is beginning to interfer with Dis, can you imagine).

On suggestions, oh now this will be a memory test - Oh yes, lots that have been psted are good to go.....Late Dining, Early dining sems to be a personal choice, but the effort placed into seating deserves a great round of appluase.

Shirts/Bags, great- great - by the way, the Neon St. Thomas group was a church group....and they were rude??? Shame on them.......

A second meet - ditto - good idea as I to found I did not meet some DisFriends.....(but can I still have the cabin next to Lady Poo...and will Sandi bring her read fish extender, otherwise I cannot find the room......)

On the things I wish I had done - Taken a tour of the door signs....and use Mary's mini-navigator more for Dis directions.

Ladies Tea is at the same time as Beer Tasting.....need I say more. We will not be taking another wine tastng event, I do not think....but we love Beer Tasting....

On the list I do not recall seeing ship wine, which means we have to cruise with the Scuba's....Must start saving money now...

On that note, take more wine, less port...

Followed by - STAY UP LATE and make sure to go to the Dessert buffet.

We need a contest to see which of us will be on Match your Mate - here is a hint - Sam will not play....

Susan, Garry, yes all our friends should come along - and Scocopie too......in fact, if the little cone wants to come on our St. Thomas diving and hiking trip, Hedgie will be thrilled.

Back to back on the Wonder - now that has possibilities....we have never sailed on the Wonder - our 4 day was on the Magic!!!!

And we get to stay on the ship -- whooopeeiiieeeeee........(better be quite, They may change that policy if they see us coming.....)

And, we can toast Matt on his graduation 'cause he can drink in the Bahamas when he is 18 (ooops, better not let Sharon see that....)

Green signs for the dining tables....now that is classic.....

Not sure I want you guys climing over my back checking off things..... :teeth: I bet the "kick me" in black Sharpie will appear, more than once....

Guess I must press send and hit the road....have a fun day all!

But the June 14th is a Western and we want an Eastern. Sorry.

edited to add - unless of course DCL switches up ports on us. :lmao:

Ok ... I'm not too bright here. How do you already know which week is going to be an Eastern or Western in '08? The dates aren't out yet, right? Or, are you basing it on the '06 pattern?

I was just going by the last of the 2007 cruises and keeping that pattern of Eastern/Western/Eastern/ etc.

Like I said DCL could throw us a loop.

Just one word of reality before we get carried away with all these plans.

It is great to say we need to do this and we need to do that, but the fact is we need people to organize these events.

For example some things we had on the 10 day that we didn't have on the blabbermouth cruise were an ornament exchange, a wine party, and a group photo. The problem was it was the same 2-3 people that organized these and the dinner seatings. (and no I don't mean Mark and I). We need more people to step up and be responsible for organizing something if we want it. We talked about a group photo but it never happened because no one stepped up.

We prefer to do our work pre-cruise (web site, buttons, navigators, etc.). Same thing with Sue & Stacey on the dining (which trust me is hard work). Pam with the shirts and bags.
Kevin organizing the diving.
Jim and the wine.
Monica with organizing Scoopie's travels.

Most of these required work not only before but then during the cruise as well (passing things out etc.)

We'll be happy to publicize the plans in the newsletter and navigator, but don't look for us to plan everything. After all this is our vacation too. :)
So what I'm trying to say before I get off my soap box is:

Ask not what your cruise group can do for you, ask what you can do for your cruise group!

:thanks:

Wise words, Mary! Our *mantra* for the Do-Over!!

I think we all need to step up to the plate and be involved :thumbsup2

How about this? When it's decided *what* our group wants, we create a list and DISers "sign up" to head or assist with that activity? The list would be posted on the website, then everyone will know the *go-to* person/people.

Will that work?

:yay:

Yes, that is a great idea. Soon as we find a minute or three Mary and I will start putting something together website wise. Would someone be so kind and collect/keep track of the suggestions of group activities?

On the pics, sofar got 3 sets of pics, and after just flipping thru them, I'm glad I volunteered for this, I think everyone participating is going to like the results. :)

I think Scoopie would enjoy that - Maggie may want to come along as his guardian - don't think there a travel policy for unaccompanied cones... ;)

I've been keeping track of suggestions, so I'll continue to do that. :sunny: Anyone else, feel free to do the same also - knowing me, there's always a chance I'll miss something! (no wisecracks please!!)

We're also glad you volunteered to put the pics together for us, Mark :thumbsup2 I'm sure we're going to LOVE the results! Thanks again!! :goodvibes

While I'm posting I might as well address one thing that Amanda brought up.

Yes there was a group brunch in Palo, and no it wasn't an open invitation. This wasn't meant to exclude anyone or to hurt anyone's feelings. Very early on in the process (I'm thinking January or February of 2005 I had sent an e-mail to Stacey suggesting a reunion brunch of those 10 day cruisers who were sailing with us.

You see setting up a group brunch at Palo is very very hard when you have a group this large. The private room only seats 14 (which means 7 couples) and while on the 10 day we were able to secure another table outside for an additional 10 people I think it led to lots of hurt feelings. From those who didn't get on the list early enough to those who were at the outside tables vs. inside (not everyoneone but a few).

So my suggestion to Stacey was let's just have this one little thing for the 10 dayers and then everything else as a big group. So that is what we did with Stacey's help.

Of course we didn't publicize it because we didn't want any hurt feelings. At any time anyone else could have stepped up and organized a group brunch but they didn't.

So hopefully that will clear things up. Again I'm sorry if anyone's feelings were hurt by this, that wasn't the intention. The only goal of it was to have 13 people who had cruised together before and who were split between early and late seating to have one meal together and catch up. Also as the fates would have it Virgil found out that morning that GaRry's insurance had been approved so the first toast of the meal was to GaRry and his future health.

I hope you all understand.

Thanks Laura - keeping track of things at this point will be a big help!

BTW - when I listed my other thanks I left off two very important ones.

Thank you to Virgil for the great PDFG pins!
Thank you to Sandi, Larry & Caleb for the great pirate bags!

A big AMEN to that!!! Loved the small things that made and continue to make this cruise one to remember!!

With participation we are involved, and that just makes it more fun!!! LOL, I can't imagine how big this thread is going to be at start of the "next" cruise!!!

Laura - since you are keeping the list can you put me down for the following: web page, monthly newsletters (to start after we book and we know exactly when and where we are going - plus hopefully it will also be after the Member Cruise that I'm also keeping a web page for), and navigator.

Please put Mark down for buttons (since he is the button meister).

Thanks!
