5/2/2015 Exp. Everest Marathon crowds?

We are planning our 2nd family trip to WDW for the week of (Mon)4/27 - (Sat)5/2/2015. Woo hoo! Can't wait! It is not on the books yet, but will be in a few weeks! I did discover that the Expedition Everest Marathon is scheduled for Sat 5/2. I am a member of TouringPlans-dot-com and it shows that the crowd calendar for that week is not too bad in all the parks. We were planning on MK for the last day at the parks. It is a crowd level 5. AK is a 7 that day - but AK is not one of our favorite parks anyway so no big deal. BUT my question is - with this being a race weekend, will this effect crowd levels at the parks and resorts during the week of our stay? Or do the runners generally just come to run that day and then go home? The week we picked is a great week for good weather and low crowds right? I really think we picked a great week to go, but I just wondered how it being a week before a race weekend effects the predicted crowd levels? No big effect? The last time we went mid October and it was simply WoDeRfuL!! Wanting another great WDW experience

Expedition Everest is a fairly small race. It is a 5K that is ran after hours at AK (We didn't start running until 9 PM). My husband & I did it a few years ago. We typically go in September when the crowds are at their lowest & they didn't seem that different for the race weekend. If I remember correctly, there was one day with a lot of Brazilian tour groups. I'm not sure if there was an event going on for them or if it was just a good time with their schools, but even with that, I don't remember standing in lines that long.

I didn't realize it was a 5K and after hours. I think we will stick to our plan for that week. That Saturday will be our last day at the parks and we will probably visit MK that morning and then head Downtown for shopping and using up snack credits at Goofy's. I will trust the Touring Plans website for the crowd levels as well. Thanks so much!
