5/15/2011 - Disney Dream 4nt Bahamas - May 15, 2011

I hate to say this, as I was so looking forward to meeting all of you, but it doesn't look like we'll be taking the cruise after all. We've been having a lot of trouble getting in touch with the cruise lines' wedding coordinator- it would take weeks to get the simplest questions answered. So, we started looking into other DFTW options, and realized that with the current promotion, we could have an Escape for the same price. The Escape also includes photography and annual passes, so we're actually saving quite a bit of money by switching- so much in fact that we can upgrade from Pop to POR and extend the trip by 4 days. Joe from DFTW has been absolutely amazing, and has Sunset Pointe on hold for us. It's still beach-y, but with a fantastic view of the castle, space mountain (on clear days Slash Mtn too), the Grand Floridian, and the Contemporary. As a bonus, I can ride the monorail in my wedding dress ans we can visit the parks after the wedding.

I was really looking forward to meeting all of you, and thank you for all the help you've given us- answering questions and such. I am disappointed that we won't be on the cruise, but we get a lot more for out money this way PLUS we aren't treated like a burden. I wish you all a fantastic sailing!!

:sad1:

DH tried to book Palo, no go, so we will try when we get on ship, we go on the ssmc every year and have have had sucess before, so we are ok with with it.. as far as Nasau, not sure what we want to do there.. never been but staying on ship while everyone else is gone.. maybe priceless:) We are sailing with friends we know from the ssmc and can't wait..

I am on the boards everyday, DH thinks i have gone crazy. I am overly excited and we have never done Disney with kids before much less a cruise. I am trying to have some kind of game plan, but honestly the WDW part of the trip is just so overwhelming, to add to it, I have no clue how the kids will do with all this.

Has anyone every shipped a box to the ship? I am thinking of shipping my FE gifts and possibly another bag to put all the extra stuff in I know we will end up with.

Just booked air fare!!! We got a pretty good deal flying Air Tran, now if we could just get May to get here.. Can you tell Im getting excited :goodvibes

How old are the Kiddos? I can see how you could be overwelmed with both, when you've never taken them to either. Which are you doing first, cruise or WDW?

We booked our plane trip through AirTran too. They ran a 3 day sale a few weeks ago, so we also got a good price. Flying non-stop both ways!
We're really excited too! Already have our cruise graphic stuck to our fridge door :)

mousefan64 - This is my sixth cruise and i generally stay on the ship in Nassau and enjoy it being less crowded. That being said, I have stayed at the Atlantis and it is truly amazing. If you don't think you will make it over there anytime, you should consider it.

I too need to book my flights. Hopefully I'll get on that tomorrow.

I am thinking of booking the cabana at castaway. Anyone else thinking of doing it?

Kimmy, I'm so sorry that you haven't been treated right by the Cruise Wedding Planners!! I think you are going to absolutely love your Escape Fairytale Wedding...and who knows, maybe you can celebrate with an anniversary cruise next year!! So what is going to be your wedding date now? Are you still sticking to May? Best wishes, I hope every one of your dreams come true!

Aw thank you! I haven't officially signed the contract yet, but our Letter of Agreement has been sent and we're scheduled for 10am, May 16, at Sunset Pointe- so we just pushed the wedding forward 1 day.

There's only 1 planner for all of DCL, and once I found that out I can't really hold it against her. I'm sure she's very overworked and doing the best she can. DCl needs to get her some help! I can't imagine how busy she must be all the time.

We are hoping to do a cruise next year. Granted it won't be the inaugural season, but it'll still be new to me! Haha.

The Escape just came together so quickly and easily, and Joe at DFTW has really gone above and beyond to make this wedding happen. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea. Sunset Pointe has a great view of the castle, which is where Ryan proposed, so it kind of seems fitting.

That sucks :( But PLEASE come back and post some pics of your special day for us.

Thank you, I appreciate it. This certainly wasn't what we had in mind. It's been a rough few weeks lately trying to switch everything around, but it seems to be for the best. Our families like this idea even better, and they're saving quite a bit of money.

I promise to come back and post pictures! I'll post what our families take when we return, and when the MK photos come in I'll post the link and password.

Thank you- we really appreciate the empathy. Everyone had their hearts set on the Dream. I followed the Dream's development since she was first announced. It's disappointing to say the least.

Thank you so much everybody! You guys really are the best! I hope you guys have a fantastic trip. I can't wait you your TR's and photos!

Can someone have a Mai Tai on the beach for me? Haha! :goodvibes

You're getting married on my 40th birthday!!!!
You'll be saying "I do" and kissing you new husband ... while I make out with a sea lion in nassau!:rotfl:
So everytime I look at my whiskered kiss,I'll know you got married!!!:rolleyes1

R we chosing days to hand out FE's? Or are we just hoping that everyone will pick a separate day? I ran our FE for our cruise last Feb and had people pick a day if they preferred or if not, placed them on a day when there were not many things being delivered.
I ask because I am doing a pirate theme...so I would like to hand out on for Pirate night... which I am guessing is CC day....
Just wondering how this one will work...

DD - 4 years old and DS -- 2.11 years old (in May) :)

We are cruising first and then off to WDW until the 22nd. We are working really hard to get DS potty trained in hopes he can go play with his sister, otherwise I doubt either of them will spend much time in the kids area. Kind of feel like my head is spinning and we are still 80 days out. :upsidedow

Yay!!!
I ordered all my FE goodies last night for both back 2 back cruises. Just need to pick up a few different things for any other B2Bers that are on the 19th cruise... if they are participating.
No homemade gifts from us this year... with the fact that my oldest has been in hospital for the past 26 days and that we are up and moving jouse in 37 days.. I have way too much on my plate at the moment! EEKK!

I personally wouldn't want to feel obligated to a certain day... I'd rather see when I have some downtime on the ship to get it done (sooner, rather than later, of course).

Hi, everyone! I'd like to introduce myself, my DH, DS 7, and DS 9! This will be our very first disney cruise! We are so excited. I started planning this trip over a year ago. DH and I will be renewing our vows on-board! We've only been on ONE other cruise (carnival) and it was 10 yrs ago for our honeymoon. Since we've had children, we fell in love with the magic of Disney. So, we thought, what better way to re-affirm the last 10 yrs of our love and life together than on a Disney cruise with our sweet boys!
I read about fish extenders several months ago and my DS's and I have already collected TONS of disney and pirate themed gifts to share! Still not sure on all of the details on how to participate. Can someone PM me?
Thanks, Amanda
