cmcsharon said:One thing your son could share is that this isn't just any launch. This is the Return to Space Mission for the Space Shuttle. It's the very first launch of a space shuttle since the Columbia tragedy over 2 years ago. If we do get to see the launch, I want to videotape my kids talking while we watch it...that would be something they could bring to school to demonstrate just how loud the launch actually is (I've heard it's amazing).
Wow, wouldn't that be awsome!!!! I live near Tampa Florida, and I remember as a child going out during the day or night (at home or at school) and you could actually see it going up (the smoke/relfection of the sun) and I even remember my DS and I going out at to watch the Colubmia go out. But we have never actually been so close! Lets keep our fingers crossed that we get to witness this one!!!
My ds will be missing his last 3 days of school, so we aren't really focusing on any school type projets. But what I have seen mentioned here so far is great!! I plan on having him do a journal (i'll print it out off the computer like I did for his WDW bday trip 2 years ago). I also plan on going to the bank on the Bahamas and exchanging some of his money for their money. (I did this with a friend the one time we were at the Bahama's...so we could bring it back to the kids and let them take it to school. They all thought that was pretty neat.) The bank was not a very far walk, actually between some of the shops on the main road.
