I thought i was done shopping! I was wrapping presents and it really seems DD is getting so many items compared to DS.

DD10 hit a growth spurt and outgrew everything. I have been getting her a lol of clothes and shoes but kept a few clothes for under the tree. I could buy her a bunch more stuff but stopped myself! She is getting a few art kits, sleeping bag, games, etc. I had a lot of coupons and hit sales so i didn't spend a lot but there are a lot of things.

DS8 on the other hand, is getting an iPod nano and the HP lego castle. I have a few other items for him but not nearly as many as for DD. He is also getting a winter classic hockey jersey.

DS still fully believes in santa so i need to even things up a bit! I need a few gifts in the $5-$10 range so it looks a bit more balanced. Kids are good about not comparing exactly but right now she has about 2/3 of the gifts.

I really do want to stay in the $5-10 range.

pajamas ( I got ds a pair of fleece mario pj's at Penney's for $6!)
slippers
little lego sets
chapter books
board games
watch

does he like sports? I found this on slick deals............
Discount Mags has a 1-Year Subscription to ESPN Magazine w/ ESPN Insider for $3 after applying coupon code 1143

Cuponk. It might be closer to $15, I got it on sale for $10. DS went nuts when he sww that I bought it for his class gift exchange..little does he know that I got him one too, lol

I always hit the drugstores and big lots for cheap filler gifts. It happens every year that someone has less than the others.
Here are a few things: bendaroo kit, snuggie, $10 points card for PS3 or Xbox, Club Penguin one month membership ($5.95) or to Toontown ($10). Toontown is really fun if he has never played it!

Walmart has it for like $10. How about speed stacks? rubix cube?
Trick Flix
Tech Decks

Toys R Us had a ton of games on sale this weekend. I got my nephew Perfection for $10 down from $21.

Soccer Boppers? My kids LOVE these. DD 9 is getting a set.
New ball if they play soccer or basketball?

Hope this helps give you some ideas!

Gift cards to McD's, BK, movie theater, etc

Michaels has all sorts of art, craft, and science kits (soda pop science, etc) on sale this week, and they have a few coupons out there

Not sure if it's big in your area but alot of the 8-9 year olds here are into Beyblades. I think it ends today but TRU has a sale on them for I think $4.99 each, usually they are about $7.99 My 9 year old is getting a few of them from Santa.

My DS is almost 8 and here are some things I got him in that $5-$10 price range:

Bokugon
$10 gift card to toys r us
Mighty beans
Chocolate and candies for stocking stuffers
Mini Lego figures

Yes....I have a 6 year old, just turned 9 year old, and a 10 year old and all three of them (and their friends) LOVE Beyblades!

I forgot to mention that I also got Cuplunk at Walmart for $10 the other day.

Walmart had board games for $5. They have a $3 peelie coupon by the games for connet 4, bop it, operation. There is also a $3 off coupon on line (monopoly, battleship?). I got u build connect 4 and u build monopoly for $2 each. There is also a $3 or $5 one for picturica that can be used on the card game that sells for $5.

Cuponk is $10 at Target also. I got it for $2 with a coupon a while back.

The Kung Zhus are on sale for $4 and so is the armor to go with them at Walmart.

I ordered a $10 box of legos with around 200 of them on walmart.com.

I have a DS7 that had less presents than DD5, so I understand. He would not realize he has $30-40 presents compared to dd's $10 ones lol.

I hope this was helpful. Cannot wait to hear the other suggestions. Good Luck.

Does he like to read? Around here, I hit our thriftstores and get great condition, current books for $.50.

Beyblades would be my first go to. Ds picked out several combo packs for the Toys for Tots gifts. They were about $15 each at Target. I did something funny tonight. My 15yo son has had a resurgence of interest in Toy Story because of the last movie. He bought himself a new Buzz Lightyear recently and has it on his dresser, lol. I found Kleenex boxes with Toy Story folks on them so I bought several boxes and will use them as filler in the Christmas morning display. Useful items, we will all use them and they will make his Christmas seem more festive! In the past, I have purchased helium balloons to show off the Christmas loot and I've been known to stage the tree with lighting and other easy and cheap filler.

I have two little brothers and theylove hot wheels (Walmart ten pack $5), transformers (toyrus $8-$12), comic books, kites, tents, bowling sets, model clay, model cars and airplanes, basketballs ($10 Target), trading cards, water guns/nerf guns (WalMart/Target $10), books like Harry Potter that you can get at used bookstores, favorite videos, playdoh and card games. connect Four, Battle Ship, Twister.pirate: Anything Pirate. Plastic Swords and Star Wars action figures. Jump ropes. The kids can both get this and yo yos to play together. Did you get him some I-Tunes cards for the Ipod Nano?

You are a good mom! Merry Christmas!

How about the freeing Doby set for HP? It's $10 if you find the sales! Would go with the castle!

pokemon cards are also big with my 8 year old

and he really likes the series where you pick your own adventure....those books are $6.99 each and you can use a coupon if you want to make it cheaper.

there have been many DS game deals around the $10 mark this year too.

I found myself in the same situation - when I started compairing the number of gifts dd7 had ds9 beat by about 10 gifts. His stuff is more expensive so I actually spent more on him but at this age it's more about quantity than cost. So I went with the expectation of getting him a few more cheaper gifts - under $10 each.

I got him a couple of the smaller Lego Build It Games (he already has one of the $30 ones and the Lego Creation games under the tree), Beyblades (very popular with him and his friends and classmates), Bakugan, and I found him a mini Lightsaber that you can change to 4 different colors for $7.99 which I think he will love. If you look, you can usually find board games, the Kung Zhu pets, Tech Deck, etc. for about $5 at Walmart.
