I'm sure this has probably been asked before but I could not find a thread so forgive me if I'm being repetitive. I am going to Disney for the 4th of July for the first time. I'd like to know from some veterans what would be a good park strategy for that day and which park is best to view the fireworks. I've been leaning toward making a ps for Ohana and watching from the Poly beach. Any other ideas?

Since I've never toured WDW on 7/4, I'm going to bump this back to page one for you so that some of our vetereans can offer advice.

ok was in mk at 8 am on july 4th 2003, and our best advice,,stay in hotel,, play in the pool, try and get to outside of park to see fireworks,,the park is loaded early waits are forerver, even with fast pass,,, and its much better to stay at the hotel and log some down time, we had fun, but the crowds were nasty, we foiund best spot for fireworks was the smoking area across pond from the castle.

That was what I figured. Thanks. I heard that MGM is pretty empty on the 4th of July. Can anyone confirm this?

Wow We did it once, man it was hot, hot, hot, hot and crowded, crowded ,crowded and did we have fun, fun, fun yes we did, it was a day we will never forget. No it's not a great day to try if your interested in trying to do all the attractions. We did do some attractions, the live shows and all the people the decorations watching the special fireworks in the middle of Main Street with thousands of folks is unforgetable. The parade the bands it was a special time for us.I would think every Disney nut should do at least once,I'm a Disney nut.You know sometime in the future we are going to do it again so we can experience that magic again.::yes:: :hyper: :wave2:

You don't have to have a ps to watch the fireworks. The beach there was mega-crowded last year.

I didn't find the parks all that crowded during the day. but then we didn't go to MK. There were a lot of people trying to get to all 4 parks so they could buy the pins. :earseek:

Thanks for that advice. I really didn't want to eat at Ohana. I ate there last year and did not like it, but I thought the Poly beach would be a good spot.

I think it would be best to have a PS if you aren't a guest at the Poly. Have you tried Kona? It is rumored that security has been checking ID's in the past. This has been a very heated topic on the boards.

As far as what to do that day.....AK...it was empty. It is the only park without festivities that evening. You can stay and see the parade and then head off for your evening PS and watch fireworks.

That's a great idea. I thought AK would be empty. Kona is a good idea for dinner. What about Chef Mickey's? The kids would like that better. Is there a place you can go after dinner to see the fireworks from there?

I did MGM last year and it was great. I then walked VERY fast over to Epcot and saw those fireworks.

I can't say how crowded MGM was during the day, but I got there a few hours before the fireworks and it was PACKED!

That's exactly what we plan to do!!! :sunny:

We've stayed at the Polynesian several times over the 4th. I have never seen an ID checked. The beaches are packed with people not staying there. I would advise taking Disney transportation over (bus to TTC and walk to Polynesian) because they would probably turn you away if you tried to park there.
