The month and year was indeed June 2003.

The date of the opening was 28th June 2003 ( the big event opening).... but many answers said the 3rd, so I am a bit confused as to whether it opened on that day, before the grand opening.
If somebody could confirm the date then I will be able to give points for the 3rd too. Sorry about the confusion .

I couldn't find the exact date Caroline but several sites said the first week in June. No doubt other people will be able to tell you their source.
