Holy SHEEP! I just got an almost terrifying phone call. My dad is in the Army and works at the Pentagon and I honestly don't talk to him that often. So when I get a call from him I swear my heart was about to jump out of my chest because it sounded like bad news. There was a shooting at the Metro station at the Pentagon that he takes in and out.

He was just calling to tell me if I saw anything on the news not to worry at all. But wow, my heart is still up to my ears right about now.

OK, had to get that out to someone.

We now continue with our scheduled broadcast of whatever, whenever!

That would rack the nerves for sure. I'm glad to hear your dad is safe.

BTW, I want to take your Snow White avatar photo and slap that scene at the end of ride. I think it would make me feel better. Yes.....yes it would.

Spring Breaks Next Year

I looked up some of the larger school districts in various locations/states in the west just to get an idea of when schools will be on spring break next year.

Peoria Arizona Unified: March 14-18
Scottsdale Arizona Unified: March 14-18

San Francisco Unified School District: March 28 - April 1
Denver Public Schools: March 28 - April 1

Orange County Unified school district: April 4-15.
San Diego Unified School District: April 4-8
Central Valley School District (Spokane): April 4-8

Los Angeles Unified School District: April 18-22
Salt Lake City Unified: April 18-22
Clark County School District (Las Vegas): April 18-22
Seattle Public Schools: April 18-22


So basically, it looks like the heavy spring break crowds will start around March 12th and continue through April 24th (Easter). Before March 12th and after Easter weekend, it doesn't look too bad.

Thanks for doing that, Capri! I should add that as far as I know, most schools in Oregon (including colleges) always take the 3rd week of March, which would be March 21-25.

I just realized the other thread is going...do you all really expect me to keep up with 2 threads!?!? I didn't think I had a life, but maybe I do!

I'm not a fan of the two threads - way too difficult to keep up with everything that way I have to try and fit work in between this thread, Vegas thread, and FB!!!!

I won't keep up with 2 threads; I can barely keep up with one. I think that after we pick the dates for the next trip, there won't be much actual planning for several months and this thread will be just chatting anyway. I have a facebook account but only have my family on it and don't like to use it much, just too time consuming.

I am missing everyone! Now that I think the household is caught up, I'm reminiscing about the trip. I got the pictures/videos uploaded so everyone can see them. I had a blast on the Scavenger Hunt with Jamie, Carol and Sarah. We tried SO hard!! And only losing 2nd place by 2 points SUCKS!!

You guys were awesome teammates! Yeah, maybe we should not have gone with that Jesus answer on the cavalry/calvary question! I loved that you all bought into it though! I am thinking that I am probably not going to make it for MA in May. Our anniversary is a couple of weeks before that and I just made plans for a long weekend trip to Yosemite. If they have one in the fall I will try to make it to that one.

I voted for mid-April for the next trip, thinking that I like the idea of having them staggered so that we can get 2 trips in on one AP and the following year we could do February or March. Also, because of my work I can never take off the first week or so of the month. Yes Heather, we are doing this forever. Remember we are making plans for your mother/daughter picture. Of course, since I think it was established that I am the oldest official Disboard Diva, I'm not sure I will be there for it unless I can avoid dementia and my Social Security is enough to finance my trips.

Beth, I love the Small World pictures! Thanks for sacrificing to miss hearing that awesome song so that you could take pictures for us!

Everyone was groovin' on Courtney's hat/ears. They were so cute on her!

I haven't voted yet. DH & I have a trip to Kauai planned for spring so if the Diva trip is in April, Hawaii will be early March and visa versa.

I ate waaayyy too much on the trip. Now that I am back to my normal routine, I am starving half the time. Have to work on shrinking my tummy a bit - three full meals and sugary snacks each day do not make for a healthy Lulubelle!

I got wet that time too!!! I was more wet than I can ever remember on POTC. Maybe 22 in a boat isn't a good idea.

I got SOAKED!!! I have gotten off Splash Mt. dryer than I did after this picture was taken! Don't ever sit on in the back corner when there are 22 people in the boat!

Okay, so I was driving my DD to school this AM and we were listening to my very special CD of songs from the 2nd Dis DIva trip when "You've Got a Friend in Me" came on. Well, it is such a hick-ish country-ish down home-ish song, I usually just skip it and move on with my listening enjoyment. Today I listened to the words. tI made me cry. The message of friendship really hit home....you guys....are....so...gulp...sniffle....choke....well.....you know.
