4th fp soarin

We were able to get a 4th for Soarin' last week on one of our Epcot days. Our last pre-booked FP window started at 1:10pm. We used it at the beginning of the window. I don't remember the exact time of the Soarin' FP, but I think it was around 3:30pm.

Last Tuesday (4/29), our party of about 10 people had the following FP+:

1 PM Test Track
2 PM Mission Space
3 PM Spaceship Earth

Around 4 PM, we went to a kiosk and were able to get a Soarin FP for 8 PM. The park was pretty empty that day, as an FYI.

It's not EPCOT... but someone posted a pic of signage at Hollywood Studios that showed availability of Fastpasses. It showed Toy Story, Rockin Rollercoaster, and Tower of Terror as "limited" and then every other attraction (rides and shows) at the park had "AVAILABLE" next to it.

That's the absurdity of tiering... no one wants to bother using a FP+ to see Indiana Jones, Little Mermaid, Muppets 3D. Just like no one at EPCOT wants to burn a FP+ to ride Spaceship Earth or Finding Nemo.

They're simply not necessary.

While you may be right 350 days of the year, I will tell you that the 2 weeks around Christmas most of those FP+ before valuable. No they are still not as valuable as a Soarin' or TSMM FP+. Dec. 31st, 2012 pre FP+ I flew into Orlando and arrived at about 6:00. I ended up waiting over 1/2 an hour for both Journey into Imagination and Finding Nemo. All FP- except Living with the Land had been Pulled for the day. I would have loved to have FP's for those rides. Yes I would have loved a FP for the 240 min Soarin wait or 300 min. TT wait even more. But they were probably all gone by 10:00 a.m.

I would not be surprised if on NYE and possibly even Christmas day, every single FP+ get's booked, including Indiana Jones, and possibly even Muppet Vision 3d, at both EPCOT and MGM. The parks are just that busy.

The purpose of Tiering is allow nearly everyone an opportunity to book at least 1 headliner before anyone has the opportunity to book a second. With the current Use 3, without any monkeying around with times, the earliest someone could get their 4th is about 12:00. So, guest wanting to book their 1st headliner aren't don't have competition from people wanting to book 2nd or 3rd headliner from prebooking up through noon of the day in the park.

The point being, Disney is trying to build a basic framework that will work 365 days a year. And, while there may be times of the year that they could do away with tiers in the prebooking, or allow guests to prebook more than 3. This is a level they feel they can accomplish the vast majority of the year.

Tuesday was our Epcot day as well.

I just went back and checked, our Epcot day was Monday (4/28).

I'm not sure how often those signs get updated. There was a sign at Epcot that said Test Track had limited availability, but nothing showed up on the kiosk.

At 1:15 today we could've gotten a 4th fp+ for Soarin for later at night. Instead we chose test track because it was a 2:35 pm fp+.

We were able to get Soarin for a 4th FP on Monday and Wednesday. :thumbsup2

We finished both first sets up around 1-2ish, and they offered us Soarin for several times after 5. We went with Maelstrom and Illuminations instead, b/c that is the area that we would have been in at that time. ;)
