Just took a little walk, here's what I saw, with 48 hours to go until we check into concierge at the Polynesian....
Lagoon side

Garden side, what is this muddy enclosed area covered in plastic?? Also in one of these you may see housekeeping in there cleaning up and placing sheets, etc

Are those firemen??! They have the same pants.....

OK, that's all for now........

Oh, crikey, sorry these are so large, but I must be off to the pool, or dh will think I'm lost! I will try to re-size them later!

Thanks for the research! ;) You must be excited about moving in on Monday. Of course, not to wish away any days at the Polynesian. They always go too fast.

Thanks for posting the pics! Looks like they still have a lot to do before Monday! I got an email from IPO today and she did confirm they'll be opening on time. It'll be neat for you to be the very first in a newly redone room!

I hope you can post some pics of the new rooms and of the new lounge if you have time!

I believe they had to do some work on the pipes (thought I heard that) so maybe that area is where the pipe work is being done. Also I am sure the Firemen are doing inspections for it to open.

Thanks for the photos.

Aloha

Steve

Just came back from a 9 night stay at the Poly. They are working very hard on Hawaii. They were carting furniture every day we were there and there were a lot of workers around. When I looked up I could see that the rooms had the new furnishings but they were just not "made up" yet.

You didn't happen to notice if the Hawaii building had the new headboards, did you?? :teeth: The new ones are dark wood, as opposed to the light wood on the older ones.

I didn't see the headboard though I did notice one day when I worker was passing me with some furniture that it was a different style/colour than what I had in my room. I think he was hauling the TV cabinet - it was darker wood and it had different engraving in the wood.

OK, we are in Hawaii! It looks awesome, especially the lounge and hallways. The rooms are about like the pics we have all already seen, except with some differences in the bathrooms and a couple other little things.

No new headboards yet, but it's clear they will be in the future, since the old light fixtures, etc don't match the new dark wood scheme. Pictures to follow!

Boy, they did work hard, it looks amazing compared to yesterday!

As for the firemen, it just seemed odd they would be dressed for a fire when inspecting, you know? The tiki torches are still out along the beach.........

Thanks :) Were you in a "new" room or an "old" room? I'm asking because I think I'd read somewhere that the concierge rooms may be slightly different than the other rooms. In other words, did the furniture for the Hawaii building that you saw look different than the new furniture in the other rooms?? (I know, I should just wait a few weeks to see for myself, but I can't help ask questions!) :teeth:

Thanks for the update! I've been thinking about you checking into the Hawaii building today!! :sunny: Can't wait to see the pictures of the rooms, and especially the lounge since we've not seen ANY of those yet!! Thanks so much for taking the time to post live from the Polynesian! :sunny:

Glad you are enjoying your stay, and yes they worked very hard to get it open.

I have heard the common areas look great, enjoy your stay.

All the rooms in the Hawaii building will be new. The suites will be slightly different but not the rooms in Hawaii. Tonight only one floor is open but the rest of the floors will be opening as more guests arrive.

When the new headboards are installed they will all be the same. Enjoy your upcoming stay, I have heard the rooms are all really nice.

 ME!!! I can't wait to get there in just 3 more days! I'm so glad I kept my original reservation after I learn of the rehab. I am so excited to be going to the Polynesian and concierge.

chamonix-how long are you there?

Oh my :earseek: We check in to concierge on Sunday...I didn't realize we were cutting it soooooo close to the reopening. I've been off the boards for a while, was there a delay? Won't be disappointed as long as were in Hawaii :cool1:

Enjoy your stay, I am sure it will be great. You will love the beds and the new decor and the new common areas.

I just got back last night from the Poly. Chamoix were you the one that was there last year the same time as me? I saw a lady by the pool twice this week that looked very familiar. She was wearing a black and white polka dotted bathing suit. That wasn't you was it?

Ah, skiwee, no polka dots for me! I thought you were coming in later this week. Oh well, maybe next year, lol. Did you say your dd uses a power chair? I know someone who posts here who will be at the Poly this week mentioned that, so I have been on the lookout.

My mom used a ECV while there and it was great for her. We were there from Sept 30-Oct 10. The weather was so hot for us! We aren't used to such hot weather this time a year and the crowds we thought were horrible. I think the free dining really booked things up this year.

Well I just got an email that 14 guests checked into Hawaii yesterday and were all put on the 3rd floor since the 1st and 2nd were not signed off by inspectors. I will have photos tomorrow and I emailed out more details in my updates.

So I am sure chamonix is enjoying the new room as we speak (or write) and I am sure we will hear more details from chamonix.

Aloha

Steve
