46" child on Rock and Roll Roller Coaster?

Brermom, I agree with u and apologize if it sounded like I meant that any attempt to pacify a child could constitute bribery, however, there was a post on here that talked about kicking/screaming..tantrum behavior and the subsequent spending of alot of $$ to appease the child...that person did what they felt was necessary and I am not saying that was "wrong" (to me everyone has their own way, and no one way is right or wrong). The only thing I was trying to express was that I personally would not want to have to handle it that way and am glad that I was able to address it now instead of it coming to that point for me and my kid. Hope this clarifies that I was NOT in any way trying to be over critical of how someone else parents, just trying to express that I am glad that the situation mentioned doesn't have to come to that point for me!!

I think WDW could help us parents by having a centrally located measuring station where kids could get their height checked and be given a color coded bracelet to signify their height range (one color for under 40", another for 40-42", etc, - or whatever ranges makes sense).

If I'm not mistaken, they do have a system like that in place at Disneyland. My kids are all tall enough for everything at this point (even my 7 y.o. DD, who is QUITE tall for her age).....so we didn't *get* to try it out. I believe they are doing a hand-stamp if you are tall enough so you don't have to keep getting measured.

If you have ever closely watched a CM measure with one of those sticks, you may have noticed that they can be WAY off depending on whether or not the CM holds the stick flat on the ground or not. If the stick is tipped up on it's edge, the top (or measuring portion) of the stick can be significantly HIGHER than it should be.

welovedis-

This is what happened to my ds when he was little at splash mtn. The cm gave him a certif. (sometimes you have to ask). He actually gave us two of them b/c i thought it was so cool I told the CM i would never use it and keep it as a collectors item, so he gave me another one to keep and one to use.

Let me tell you when we redeemed it several years later, all the CM made such a big deal out of it for my son, we didn't have to wait in the 2 hr line and they all cheered him on for his first ride!!
It was worth the wait

And the Pin thing is a great idea...that wasn't any option at the time for me but I am right there with you!!

No problem. :)

It really did work well. DD didn't want to part with her $ "for a pin," so DS got all the attention from CMs and other guests for pin trading. It really was nice that he had something she didn't. He was definitely brave enough to go on all the rides, so it took some of the sting out of being short for his age.

My now 6 yr old was 47-3/4 " on her last physical in August , we know she was 48 by February when we went ( her pants don't lie , LOL ) and I was really suprised that she was measured and allowed to go to TOT, RNR, Space Mountain but they would NOT let her go on Primeval Whirl because she was @ 1/2" short so they said. I know they were wrong and that their stick was not accurate but since she really didn't care , I didn't pursue it. When I got home on the next doctor's visit I asked and she's just a bit over 48" . Go figure, I would like to know who measures those sticks.
