45 days out! What happens?

45 days to go!
I a trying to book a second room at AOA LM.
I was told I had a good chance at the 45 day mark in case people have to cancel/don't pay.
So my question is...what happens if someone doesn't pay their balance today?
Do the rooms just open back up online at midnight? (in which case I will be staying up)
Or does Disney give guests a few days to pay up?

They typically give them until 30 days as an extension if they call. But people who decide to cancel all together will most likely do it before 45 days because that's when a penalty kicks in.
