Well gang, thanks for stickin it out with me. I just found out that Disney excercised their ROFR 2 WEEKS AGO with the seller.

No Hilton Head package for us and 2 wasted weeks of waiting.

Thanks to all who sent pixie dust our way. Anyone need any used dust? Its not very lucky but it comes cheap! ;)

I'm sorry that it didn't come through for you but did anyone explain why it took two weeks for you to be told that it didn't? Seems like you should have found out sooner.

sorry to hear you didnt get it, sometimes it works out for the best,
there are always other resale, jump right back into it and find another one ! sending pixie dust for your second resale find !:sunny:

I think it's hard to know the exact bottom $$ to offer to avoid buy back. I posted our HH ROFR saga several days ago. Ours went through at $65. You're probably better off offering more per point and getting a contract that has banked points (or at least is loaded with current use year points). Good luck. HH is a great home resort. I'd go resale again and avoid the temptation of buying SSR unless you really want a WDW property.

I am so sorry to hear this. :( Do you think you'll give it another go somewhere else? I hope so! :)

Sorry Stacy. Not good at all. Wonder why it took them so long to let you know.

Talk about a lack of communication! That's terrible service.

Please don't give up!

Aparently, Disney notified the seller two weeks ago but has yet to notify the broker. I already received an apology from our brokers associate for the lack of extra follow-up sooner.

As for what we do now, that's what we've got to decide. IT's either another HH or over to SSR. I think my husband is not very happy with the whole process of resale so we may go to SSR by default. And that could be a good thing, since HH may not be standing in a week;)

Who knows? I think i've got to monitor the boards and maybe see what the feedback is.

Hi Stacy6552: Sorry to hear. I feel for you. I had the same decisions to go through too. We really wanted to be at BCV and agonized over what happened to you. We called our DVC salesperson and she arranged a contract of 150 points with a march use year and it went through immediately. We paid slightly more($200) but it was worth the lack of aggravation. This happened on Aug. 18, 2003. It seems that sometimes peace of mind is worth something. A big factor for us was we wanted to bank all our points from 2003 to 2004 and if we went with a resale that wouldn't be possible. It appears that they allow you to bank all your points no matter what your use year is at time of purchase. Good luck in your search. Canadian Tom

So sorry to hear your news, Stacy. The lack of communications is inexcuseable.
Just found out a few minutes ago that we will only get notified by our broker if Disney does exercise their ROFR. Seems like a screwy way to do business. Especially considering how easy it is to send an email nowadays.
Maybe spending the extra $$ to buy direct would have been worth it...

Sorry you lost that one. Good luck on your next offer, whether it be reale or direct with Disney.

Stacey,

I'm so sorry to hear this!!! I hope that you try again & that you have better luck!!!

At least buying SSR from Disney would be a sure thing -- that might be worth peace of mind?

Sad :( to hear of losing contract and MAD  to hear that you were put through 2 unnecessary weeks of waiting because of poor communication. PLEASE post when you make your decision about a different purchase. Lots of us REALLY want to cheer for a happy ending for you!

Stacy -

Don't buy SSR (or any other WDW resort) with plans of staying at HH every summer booking at 7 mos. While some have reported success booking HH at the 7 mo window in the summer, it is becoming increasing more difficult to do so because of the size of the resort. Keep in mind that HH has only 102 units, of which there are only 5 GVs and 21 studio and 1 bdrms.

You will hear over and over again, buy where you want to stay the most. If that is on-site at WDW, then SSR might be the best way to go. If you want a week at the beach every summer, you need to buy at HH or VB - which means a resale.

There have been many positive stories of resale on these boards. DH and I bought OKW points resale through a Timeshare store 2 years ago and were very happy with how things went. Good luck and hopefully we will be welcoming you home in no time!
