I've only stayed on property a few times, but my 40th is coming up soon and I wanted to treat myself and family to a fun, week long celebration. What is your recommendation for a fun, but laid back resort? I'd like a comfortable resort with good amenities, location, and transportation. We'll be spending an equal amount of time at the parks and the resort so I think the Value resorts are out.

I would say it depends on which park you'll also spend the most time at -- if you like the Epcot side because you'll be at DHS and Epcot often, I say Beach Club. If at MK or Epcot, Poly - because you can walk to the TTC vs. taking the resort monorail to the Epcot monorail. Or maybe do a split stay and do both. :)

We thought about a split stay, but I don’t know if I want to go through the hassle of packing/unpacking and moving all our stuff. I’ll be 40; way too old to be moving around so much!

I guess it depends on your price point. Personally I like POR/POFQ for relaxing.

Now if you can afford to go big or go home, my personal bucket list is the Polynesian
I’m an AP, so available discounts will play a big role in my decision. However, I’m only gonna turn 40 once, right?

gee I don't know, I plan on turning 40 several times LOL

yes the packing up is annoying about a split stay. are the ages of your family members in consideration at all? with a bunch of kids I probably wouldn't want to move but if everyone can pack themselves then maybe.

in my younger years a monorail "pub crawl" was the thing to do LOL. not sure if I could revive that now....

I stayed at WL for my 45th birthday...you can take the boat to MK,see the lighted boat parade, nice grounds and pool,2 good restaurants, nice lobby...also Riverside is nice.Several pools, carriage rides,a cute pub with Yee Ha Bob playing piano.Happy Birthday! Poly,to me, has the nicest amenities.

I too will be 40 this year and if I were celebrating at Disney I would stay at a monorail resort. Contemporary would probably be my choice cause I would be able to walk to MK.

I stayed at AKL Kidani for my 40th birthday. I love relaxing on the balcony with a glass of wine checking out the animals. It is more chill than Jambo House IMO. For dinner on my 40th we got a sitter and ate at Victoria and Albert's. It was absolutely fantastic way to spend the day!
