40th Anniversary Experience...Weekend Trip
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a quick note on our experiences this weekend. We are passholders and made a quick trip for the weekend.
Fri. 9/30 we went to HS and were pleasantly surprised with very low crowds. What we accomplished from 9-5. We arrived at the park around 8:10.
Toy Story X 3
Star Tours X3
RNR Single Rider X 2
Great Movie Ride
Tower of Terror
Beauty and The Beast
This was our first time viewing this in years and it seems to need an update.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Again first in years and we all enjoyed it (well my DS was but he enjoyed it more than BAB)
Drawing Class at Animation Courtyard X 2
By far this has become one of our favorite experiences at Disney and we are by no means artists.
Dined at 50's PT
This will be our last visit here. Quality and service has been steadily declining IMO.
The lunch menu has changed, all sammy's have been removed and replaced with heavier menu items. The server mentioned there was a new chef and they had to fight to leave the fried chicken on the menu. There was one salad still on the menu. I don't want a heavy lunch in the middle of the day/heat when I will be touring for hours afterward. This meal took almost 1 1/2 hours which was way too long as the food appeared only 5 min. after ordering.
Sat. 10/1 MK for Anniversary
We arrived at the wristband line at 5:45am and were in Group C Purple that entitled us to shop from 10-11. Anyone with a wristband was allowed into the park at 7:45 to either wait for the anniversary show or line up for merch at Diamond H. We lined up for the show and were moved around several times before we were allowed to proceed to the ropes (about 8:45) set up for the show. We were on the rope at the front with an excellent view of the show.
Immediately after the show we went and got in the purple wristband line at Diamond, we were in the back of the purple line due to watching the show. We still had to wait a long time to get in and shop. We were one of the last purple groups to go in (the fourth pink were right behind us) and it was around 11:45 or 12 then. We were able to purchase everything we wanted as they were not out of anything at that point.
CM's were constantly walking the guests lined up without wristbands that were waiting stand by and telling them to understand that there may not be anything left when they were allowed to enter. The stand by line stretch from Diamond to the Liberty Square Bridge when we walked by.
After shopping we checked in quite early for our Liberty Tree reservation but were seated almost immediately. For the last year this has been one of our best meals/service on property and I highly rec. lunch here. The burger is one of the best on property. It is simple well prepared fare.
After leaving LTT we had a chance encounter when we stopped to ask someone to check the character hotline. We were trying to see if any rare or unusual characters would be about. We spoke to the VP of entertainment and were told no extra meet and greets so we felt better about leaving for a break so we could return for the evening fireworks. We left about 2pm.
Will update with more about Sat. and our Sun. experience.
