40 something ladies, skin care question

I have some kind of pads that I use to wash my face. I can't remember what they are but I know right what shelf they are on in Target and if they ever move them I'm going to be pissed because it is the only facial cleanser pads I've found that do not lead me to either acne break-outs or dry skin. Come to think of it, maybe I should learn what they are - I think they might be Aveda.

Then I have some gunk in a green bottle that I use for moisturizer that my sister bought me. I think it is Andrew Weil or something like that. Little bit goes a long way on that stuff.
do the pads have some kind of cleanser already on them? or are they plain?

We had a thread about some ways to handle this if you're interested:

(Don't laugh about the Milk of Magnesia idea - it really works to knock out any zits and I still use it at night to keep my skin from getting too oily, esp. during my monthly cycle). There were lots of good ideas in the thread so I figured I'd pass it along. :flower3:

thanks for the link, i am going to check it out

maybe a facial brush is what I need...........where did you get this brush,I don't think I have ever seen them.

i also get the occasional blemishes, but have dry patches as well!

You may be able to find them locally in dept. stores, but I got mine from Sephora when they had a 20% coupon (this was 2 years ago). I love it! Google it (Clarisonic facial brush) and read the reviews - the vast majority of people who try it really like it which is why I decided to give it a shot. It's done a good job of evening out my skin and making it feel smooth all over as opposed to flaky and a bit rough in some areas. Definitely worth looking into. I have the "classic" which is all you really need, but then I'm not a big fan of bells and whistles. :goodvibes

I had tried the Dove Skinvitalizer before I budgeted for the Clarisonic and the Dove one can't compare. The Clarisonic is around $199 so it's not cheap but mine has been going strong for 2 years of daily use so I think it's worth it.

I've been using the Olay Definity line which I love. No problems with breakouts or excessive dryness. It has also helped to eliminate a lot of my freckles/discolorations. I get compliments on how my skin looks all the time! :cloud9:

Thanks! I can always use good ideas for getting rid of the excess oil.

npmommie, I love my primer from Benefit. It's called "That Gal", and it gives a beautiful sheen to my face- really brightens it up. I use a little bit all over before putting on my base (I use mineral makeup). It keeps the oliness at bay, and makes my face look really fresh and flawless.

Look at the Avon ANEW line. They have it split up by age and what your skin needs at certain ages. Its a wide range of products including make-up.

I can tell a huge difference since I have been using it.

Heck, I'm in my mid 40's, and I still need to wash my face as if I was a teenager. I have extremely oily, acne prone skin, so I use AcneFree (a ProActiv clone). I only moisturize during the winter, and it has to be a super lightweight, non oily one, or I am shiny and greasy.

The upside to all this extra oil is that I don't have any lines or wrinkles to speak of- but I still have zits.

Me too : )

I use the Amala skin care line. I switched to it 2 years ago and it made a huge difference (I'm in my 50's). My skin looks better than it did 20 years ago.

I am not in my 40's, but having taken a course in aromatic and pharmaceutical plants in uni I can tell you that frankincense is said to be the best for mature skins. If you like organic products, I am sure you can find a variety of lotions or creams with it.:thumbsup2

I use the Culpeper day cream and I think they have a frankincense night cream (both organic).

Oil of Olay eye lift serum...LOVE this stuff. I have to use Cetaphil moisturizer with 45 SPF due to rosacea and I really like it.

I swear by Kiehl's... no fragrance. My skin is very dry and sensitive and this is the only skincare line that has really worked for me. I use the foaming facial cleanser, toner, and I have three different moisturizers from them that I use depending upon the weather and temp.

I'm in my 50s and I use Ivory soap and vaseline. No lotions, nothing else. Same regimen since I was a child.
