Hi,

I was able to get a 40% pin number to get a discounted rate for my room at Wilderness Lodge...Now I'm hearing about this free meal plan. Is that the better deal? From what I've been told, I can't have both things right???

What does everyone thing???

Disney Fans in Cincinnati, Ohio :woohoo:

You need to do some math. What is the rack rate of your room less the rate you are paying. To get free dining you will go back to the rack rate. It also depends on how many in your party, for two adults and two kids under 10 the dining plan costs just under 100 a day. Your room discount is probably more than that at 40% off. Hope this helps, and good luck!!

Someone on these boards put together a terrific chart that helps you figure out which discount is better. I don't have the link. You could do a search for it. It depends how many people you have in your party but I think that the 40% discount would be the greater savings since you're staying at a deluxe.

I am going to the GF in August, just myself and DH, and I also have the 40% off pin. The chart figured that I would have a better deal with the 40% than the free dining. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Also would the way you intend to eat match the free DDP or would you be paying a great deal out of pocket or over eating to make use of it. Things to consider when figuring out which is a better deal.

Depends on each case...for DH and I it is better to keep the 40% off room code because we have the DDE and save on dining and we cannot eat that much in one day!

We prefer to go in the cooler time anyway, Aug and Sept for an entire week would kill us :scared:

A couple of things you can try.

1.) Call. It's expensive, but they can look it up and tell you what the new total would be with the free dining.

2.) http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/se...e/redirectWdw?promotion=08SeptemberBroadOffer

Plug your dates in there and see what it comes up with.

If the free dining offer comes up cheaper, switch over. Remember to compare apples to apples though. If you don't have the dining plan now, add it in. It's $37.99 per adult (ages 10+) per night and $9.99 per child (ages 3-9) per night. (No tax - just add those figures straight)

I have a 40% off code for October and although free dining would have saved me a small amount (less than $100), I decided to stay with October because its not so hot and humid and I couldn't get any of the ADRs that I wanted.

Here's a link to the spreadsheet that was posted that you can use to determine what's more cost effective: Free Dining, a % discount, etc. Be sure to check the tabs at the bottom of the page as that's where you can jump to each discount. It does NOT include factoring in any $$$ you may spend OOP, including tips and any appetizers you purchase! Good Luck on your decision!!!

In most cases, unless you're staying value, a 40% discount is going to be better than free dining.

Also remember that with the moderates, deluxes & villas you have at least a fridge & coffeemaker in room. No need to rush out for a drink, snack or bowl of cereal in the am for those of use who prefer to sleep in (shhh, don't tell TGM ;))
