40% off select nights/resorts in 2007

This is not correct. There multiple codes, including public codes both for packages and room-only. These codes do not require PINs to book.
This entire thread is regarding both the 40% off room only code and the three letter code that is for a package yet works out to be 40% off the room. The room only is a pin code, the three letter code is being debated as a public or pin code. We're not here discussing all the other codes out there. We're discussing this particular one as it's already been confirmed that the room only deal of 40% off is indeed a pin code. So yes, I am correct.

Is that a book by 8/21, because I booked mine on 1/23 for
October. That's 40% off a room with dining & base tickets.

There were a bunch of dates mention, but the one for that time August 21 - Nov. 3

It's fair to say that your experience has been that this is a public code.

There are NUMEROUS posters who have not had that experience. Some have been on the receiving end of a fairly blunt message from CRO about this matter.

Confusion still reigns... Ability to book seems to be directly based on who you get on the other end of the phone.

I really don't know what code is was that I used because I don't know the difference between a pin or code, but I called back to be sure my reservation was okay and the CM I spoke to sounded a bit irritated that I was asking if the code I used was a public code. He said there are some that are sent to certain selected households that can only be used by that household and some are public. I said I did not receive mine via email or snail mail and his response was, "Mam, it is on your reservation, you are fine. Is there anything else I can do for you today?"

Is all this too good to be true? I hope not!

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
If the "code" is a public code as so many on this thread seem to insist it is... why is it not listed on other sites, Mousesavers, Intercot,Disney's site (like the current code offer "Free upgrade for hopping and waterparks", The Dis etc.

I'll tell you why, it is because it is not a public code. This is the code used for the people who received the postcard pin offer for 40% off room only ressies for certain dates thru 12/22/07 to upgrade their offer from r/o to a package with dining....

Why do some CM's use the code for people who have not received the postcard pin offer, that is a question for Disney Reservations Management...

Would someone be really really kind and send me a code or pin? I am booking a trip right now and thought I would look to see if there were any discounts out there and guess what you guys are all chatting about

I'm not arguing about who has experienced what. :confused3 Someone said that the room only code was a public one. But no one here has denied that the room only code for 40% off was a pin code. If it was public, then there would be no need to send emails and postcards giving pin codes for something that's public. That's overkill. Everyone here has recognized that particular deal as a pin code. The debate is that three letter code that some CMs say is public and some say is pin code attached. None of us obviously know the truth. What we DO know is that it's a package deal. But what I am saying is for certain is that the room only deal, NOT the package deal, for 40% off is indeed a pin code, not a public code. No one here has debated that part of it...so when someone claimed that the room only, too, was public, I wanted to clarify that.

OK, so how do people find out about the public codes? I asked the CM about one code and it was a room only code. Looked like she was going to let me use it, but I didn't want to get rid of the package. Would love to know exactly what the public package code is. Where would I locate such a thing? I've looked through the forums, but am not seeing it.

I see you're in with mking. There are 2 sets of codes. One set starts with the same letter and requires a PIN to apply. The other set starts with a different letter and does not require a PIN to apply. Both give you ability to either book a room only at 40% off and a package with 40% off the room. The dates are also the same for both.

"In" with me? This isn't some sort of gang war.
Yes, there are two sets of codes, you're right. One set is a pin code for room only. The other set is actually two codes, beginning with the same two letters...one code gives a package with dining the other gives a package with no dining. This set of two codes is what is being debated as public or pin. CMs have given many different stories and some people without pins have been able to book it and some have been told they absolutely need the pin to book it. So we don't know if this is truly a public code or not...seems like a true public code wouldn't give so much hassle to book. There has been no concrete evidence that this is indeed a public code other than speculation. All of us are simply hoping it is. This is the biggest reason why DIS is currently not allowing people to post this three letter code, because no one is certain about the status of this code. Only time will tell.

The DIS has not posted a code because it hasn't been confirmed that it is a public code.

Please do not start debating the issue or the thread will be closed. Thank you for your cooperation.

I obviously used the one that does not require a pin number, because I was not asked for a pin number. It amazes me that these offers are in fact available to the general public, but not advertised on the many "disney" websites, newspaper, etc.. I guess that's just Disney, call and ask for a discount and depending on who answers the phone, you may get one.

All this talk is just so confusing and nerve wracking!!!!!!

Update: First, thanks to those who PM'd me. I appreciate the help! :)

I called back with the code, spoke to two CM's and they wouldn't give it to me.

The first guy said it was available for my dates, put me on hold to check availablility and "crunch numbers" so he could give me a comparison of rack vs. the discount. I waited on hold for 10 minutes and then the line was disconnected.

I called back and got a different CM. This one really grilled me about the code, made me verify several things about myself, and then said it is a pin code only offered to selected households. I told her we've been to WDW a lot lately and I am an AP holder, so I'd like to know how to become eligible for offers like that. She said the marketing dept. handles it and this is a "highly specialized" offer that's "unlike anything we've ever done before."

Hmmm... Well, I pretty much knew they wouldn't divulge how to get a pin code - I think I just wanted to point out that as a frequent guest (as many of us are here) it would be nice to have an offer or two come our way. :thumbsup2

Before hanging up, I asked the CM is there was any chance this code might be released to the public soon and she said no, it's definitely a pin code. Then she gave me the standard line about watching the website for special offers.

So, no luck for me. It's okay, because I had planned on getting a room-only, but what a great rate that would've been! And while I fully understand the reasoning behind the pin code offers, it's a bummer when they let some people apply it as a general code, while others must have the pin attached to their household.

Right now, I would consider any info from Disney unreliable. Some CM's say public, some say pin. As soon as a code goes public, Mousesavers has it. This code is a mystery. I would just try to use it and pray it works. If you call Disney, don't request a public code. Tell them you have a discount code. If they question it, you can say it's from your travel club.

This code is 40% off a room when you buy a package.

OK...Color me confused because of all the talk of different codes..I just got, through snail mail and offer for 40% off of rooms during different dates..It had a long numbered PIN on the front..I just contacted my DU agent to ask about it.. Is this code good for packages or is it room only?
Are people managing to book deluxe resorts with this?

Hi!!! Thanks to all those who PM'ed me the "general public code"
and I was able to use it!!!! I saved about $700 off my 4- nite stay at the Poly w/ 5 day hopper and dining included!!!! And I also used it to book a 7 night package for my parents saving them $$$ too!!!!

The CM was GREAT!!!! He said the code could be used for a package OR room only. He did not say it was a PIN code only comented that it was a great discount!!!

Something you might be interested in is that I had called earlier today to see if I had a PIN and was told NO, so my 2 cents....the "general public code" is for anyone who has it.

Thanks again to all who PM'ed me!!! Let meet at the TIKI BAR and I'll buy you a drink!!!!!!!

Is there anyway I could get the 2 codes you folks are talking about? I'm about to call Disney to book a trip in December and would love to "try" and get a discount. If it doesn't work, I was going to try my travel agent, but booking a trip to Disney just seems easier to do myself.

thanks so much in advance. :)

Congrats on the postcard!
We stumbled on a code that may be very simular to the postcard code. But our code allowed people to book without a pin. We now have to worry a bit on if Disney will cancel us. You have a postcard and pin. You are set and do not have to worry about mistakes by Disney.
