40% off code question

I am one of the unlucky ones who have not yet gotten the 40% off code :sad1: I have updated my info @ disney.com, ordered a DVD, made 2 itineraries, and even setup a new account under DH's name hoping this would trigger a code, but so far nothing! :confused3

My question is, was there ever a 40% off code that was released last year that wasn't one of these elusive email/postcard codes? I mean, was it ever offered to Disney Visa holders, or the general public? I'm trying not to give up hope.

The email/postcard offers contain a PIN number which must be attached to your reservation file in the Disney computers .. that allows the CM's on the phone to book the 40% off using a private three letter code that is NOT publicly available.

Last year, that private 3 letter code was leaked out on the internet and a LOT of people used it to book vacations which Disney honored because their computer systems SHOULD have rejected the bookings as "PIN REQUIRED FOR BOOKING".. but it did not.

That was the only instance of something resembling a PUBLIC 40% off code that I'm aware of...

There have been other 30% offers that were public in some cases.

Can I call a CM to see if I have a code attached to my account?

One bit of advice - make sure you add the following email address to your contacts so if you have a spam filter, the email is accepted. :goodvibes

vacations@destinations.disney.com

That is the email address I received the coupon from. Also I had called about 4 days ago to inquire if I had a code attached to my name. The very nice CM said I did not and the next day, I received the 40% off email. :woohoo: I'm not saying the call had anything to do with me receiving the email, just thought it was a strange coincidence, KWIM?

Agreed, I called almost begging for a discount last week and spoke to the nicest CM! She couldn't give me one, but now a week later I have a PIN code next to my name. Prior to this we have never ever received a pin code offer.

Back in 2004, we booked the WL using a Disney Visa code for 40% off our room. However, the offers and their frequency would be based on availability and attendance. Given WDW is having a great year with attendance up 7%, I'm surprised the offers are out there. However, with the economy being what it is, and reports that the Christmas shopping season was poor for retailers, it makes sense that bookings for 2008 might be down and Disney is trying to get people to book.

The mousesavers web site offers historical data about offers but does not list the details of the offers, including the % off.

Good luck!

No :( We're going 8/3-8/10, and the dates for the code don't start until 8/10. We'd change it if it were just my family, but there are 17 of us going, and it was almost impossible to find dates everyone would agree too. We might be out of luck for discounts!

It's a shame disney doesn't let you share your pin code, cause I feel like it's such a waste sitting there attached to my name.

 I am sorry you didn't get to use the discount, but at least you are going to WDW :dance3:  :cool1:

We got the postcard, but it was for selected dates of travel-not when we will be there. As the PP said-at least we are going!! Maybe a room code will come out....:thumbsup2

I did not receive a 40% off code through e-mail nor mail. I called disney & told them that i heard about it & who got what. He looked up my name & he found the code attached to my name. He had to look deep but it was the 40% off. I already booked prior to that & it was not for my week. You may want to call disney direct & ask.

I am curious is this a phrase that the CM's are using? It seems that some people are only able to get this code after the CM's look deep. Does that mean you are on hold for a long time?

I have worked at several call centres (not WDW of course). The codes are available to apply to the customers account, or is already showing on their account as an offer? Looking deep either means they are not aware of it and have to spend time researching what code the customer is talking about and applying it, or just putting the customer on hold and applying it.

I don't understand what all this looking deep is?

I called and the CM brought my account up and verified my address and said no there was no code. Should I call again and ask the CM to look deep? :confused3 :surfweb:

Someone please tell me what this means. I have worked for several US call centres even though I am in canada, and the codes have always been at our access to apply to a customers account.

I am the OP. I just want to say I called again yesterday & now I have the code! I was able to book Nov. 9-15 at the Contemporary for 40% off :thumbsup2 The CM I got yesterday was very nice & was able to see I had the code right away after looking up my name & verifying my address. Keep trying everyone! I wasn't even going to call back because I was feeling so discouraged about it, but I'm so glad I did!
