hey guys!

I was wondering how people get the postcards in the mail about them getting 40% off on any hotel. How does this work? I'm saving up my money, and any way to get there quicker would help!

If you figure it out let the rest of know, there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the way they give them out. First timers, people with 100 visits, Disney Visa holders, non card holder doesn't seem to matter I guess you just get lucky.

The only thing I could suggest would be to make sure you have an account with Disney online.

ETA: WOO!!! 500th Post!!! Sorry for the mild celebration there lol!

Congrats on the 500th post, briar_rose_59!

Anyway, if there is ever a coupon for 40% off, it is sure NOT to find its way to my mailbox. I never get "nufin"! so good luck to all of you.

Signed sincerely ... ME, always paying rack rate for everything in life!

In my SIG there's a link to WDW Resort Discount Codes for Dummies. :)

It explains as much as we know about the PIN codes that are mailed out to select customers -- seemingly randomly.

. . . PIN codes that are mailed out to select customers -- seemingly randomly . . .

1) One must assume there are qualifiers.
2) I would think such items as
. . . ages of adults
. . . number and ages of kids
. . . previously visited WDW and stayed on-site
3) One could think that these are the targeted audiences of post cards
. . . 25-35 year old parents
. . . 2 children
. . . previous resort guest
4) Of course, there are probably other qualifiers.
5) I guess we need to ask Lamont Cranston.

Last year I made and paid for two reservations, both using my address. One was in my parents' name, and one was in my name. My parents got a PIN offer to upgrade (mailed to my address of course), but I did not (despite the fact that I was the one that paid) - and the ressies were linked! :confused3

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason.

Call and ask. Occaisionally there will be a pin by your name but didn't reach you. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. Can't hurt to ask.

Just an FYI to Starbox- the postcard codes are actually meant for the address where they are sent not the persons name on the offer. The same thing kept happening to me, I paid for the WDW trips but I kept getting post card offers to my address but in my DSiL name. So finally I got frustrated enough and called CRO and asked who the discount was for. Lo and behold CRO said "why its for the address" So now Disney is getting two trips out of us this year, maybe that was their evil plot all along and were wondering why it was taking me so long to catch on! :rotfl:

Well .. you would think that families with kids would be a qualifier..

But .. I have received at least three of these offers and have never visited WDW with children.

Or a wife.

Nor am I aged 25 to 35.

I am however a previous resort guest. ;)

And yes.. I suspect "The Shadow" might know. :)

well, this for me I know is fact.....I have been to WDW over 22 times, all but 1 time, we have always stayed deluxe..mostly concierge. I am a annual passholder.

NOW, with that said...techniclly I have NOT recieved a 40% postcard or any other discounts. but I had a BF come with me a couple of years ago, a postcard came to MY house in his first name only.......my last name. He has never been to disney and hated every minute of it when we were there. so HE or his first name got the postcard!

I have the card ....it has my last name, so they said that was fine. so I get the disount. BUT had it not been for his first name, I bet my life on the fact that I would not have probaly gotten it~! It really seems that the more you spend there, the less you get back!.....just my thoughts.:confused3

I think you're on to something generally speaking. The super frequent visitors are NOT going to be targeted by this mailings. If they're going to come anyway, why target them for a discount? Doesn't make good business sense. ... Strategically speaking.

Think of it as Disney trying to get the in-frequent visitor.. to be come a frequent visitor... Get you 'hooked' as it were.

It's an evil plan and I understood it going in and EVEN STILL.. it TOTALLY worked on me. :rolleyes1

I totally have beleived this and even talked about it to the CM's but of course they are in denial! I know it does make total sense, I myself had stopped going in 2001......for a few years, and still had not recieved anything. I started back again in 2004.

for what I have paid there.......I could have bought the whole DVC top floor at the BWV! or maybe a wing!
I also mentioned to them they should do a "frequent visit" points for use people that do go alot! like the airlines do~~;) I am sure we will see that sometime soon!:rolleyes1
