planning a trip for May...I have 4 year old twin boys and have only taken them to Disney...I've heard that Universal is geared towards older kids...would I be wasting my time going with 4 year olds? is there a site that shows ride restrictions? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Kyle

No, I took my four year old DD (who was 44 inches) in August.. she loved it!

The only thing she didn't go on were Hulk, Dueling Dragons and Dr. Doom. She did everything at USF, including the Terminator Show, Twister, Makeup Show...

She loved it All... she wasn't afraid.. and loved MIB!

Yes, the kids will have a great time, there are many playgrounds where they can spend hours. Bring a good book to read and a change of cloths for them because they'll get soaked.
If you're bringing your spouse, set up meeting spots so you can go on the big kid rides.

How tall are your boys? It seems that the magic height is 42". If they are at least that tall they can go on almost everything. My 3yo is barely 40" and we will be more restricted, but I wasn't able to wait any longer to return. :)

I agree with all the other posters! Here is info off Universal's website for height requirements. Hope you go and have a ball:)

At each Universal Orlando attraction location, signs post specific height requirements and warnings for certain medical conditions. Children under 48" (1.22 meters) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

All shows accommodate guests with disabilities. The outdoor-stage shows have reserved areas clearly marked by signs displaying the International Symbol of Accessibility. For more information, please click here for our online Guide for Guests with Disabilities.

At Universal Studios®, children must be able to sit upright unassisted on all rides. Guests under 40" (1.02 meters) tall may not experience Back To The Future The Ride®. Guests must be at least 36" to ride Woody Woodpeckers Nuthouse Coaster® and 42" to ride Men In Black®: Alien Attack®.

Due to the nature of the attractions, expectant mothers are requested to avoid riding Back To the Future The Ride®, Earthquake® – The Big One, Jaws® and use the stationary seating in Terminator 2:3-D Battle Across Time™

At Universal's Islands of Adventure® children must be able to ride upright unassisted on all rides. Persons under 54" (1.37 meters) may not ride Dueling Dragons® or The Incredible Hulk-Coaster® , those under 52" (1.32 meters) may not ride Doctor Doom's Fearfall®, those under 42" (1.07 meters) may not ride Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges®, those under 44" (1.12 meters) may not ride Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls®, those under 42" (1.07 meters) may not ride Jurassic Park River Adventure® and those under 40" (1.02 meters) may not ride Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man®. Guests must be at least 36" to ride the Flying UnicornSM coaster. Pteranadon Flyers® is designed for children 36" to 56" tall. Adults over 56" must be accompanied by a child meeting this requirement. Due to the nature of the attractions, expectant mothers are requested to avoid riding The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom's Fearfall, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Cat In The Hat™, Storm Force Accellatron®, Flying UnicornSM or Popeye and Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges®. We have provided comfortable areas where you may wait for your party.

A few things they could do if tall enough (whcih DD was not)

IOA

Jurasic Park river adventure

US
MIB (broke DD's heart that she couldn't ride)

My son (one day short of 4 on our visit) loved both parks. He was just at 40. He only missed out on riding Jurassic Park. My kids wore their bathing suits underclothes for water play. It is not JUST for older kids. You will be amazed how much there is for the little ones. Enjoy!
PS>
I thought the height requirement for Popeyes Bilge-barges was for riding without an adult. I'm pretty sure they let smaller ones on with parents. At least they let mine ride with us...!
