4 Year Olds - Too Young For Autographs?

Do it! Heaven knows I sold a lot of autograph books, and plenty were to little kids. That way, when your kids get older, they can look back at the autographs. BTW, DisneyPhD, your kids are so cute!

Last year I bought a print of Cinderella that came with a mat around it, and I had all the characters sign it at the 1900 Park Fare dinner. This year we're doing CRT, so I am planning on getting a princess poster and having all the gals sign it.

This is a GREAT idea! ::yes::

Absolutely not!! I have to relate one of my favorite WDW memories:

Back in 2003, we took my youngest DD on her first trip to WDW, She was only 2 and too young (or so I thought) for the autograph thing. I bought a book and pen for her anyway because her older sisters were getting them and figured she'd just scribble in it and that would be that.

The following day, we had PS for the character breakfast at Crystal Palace (DDs love the Pooh characters). We all left the table to get in line for Winnie-the-Pooh. My 2-year-old had left her autograph book back at the table but I really didn't think she'd know what to do with anyway, so no big deal. Well as soon as we got in line and she saw Pooh autographing a child's book her eyes got as big as saucers and sudden comprehension dawned on her face. Before I could stop her she ran out of the line to go back to the table to get her autograph book. She came back to the line holding her book with a huge smile on her face. When her turn came she knew exactly what to do....she got an autograph and big hug from Pooh...I didn't think she'd ever let him go! :goodvibes

After that, she loved getting autographs from all the characters. She is 4 now and I think that is still her favorite part of the trip.

An autograph book is also great for a child who may be a little frightened of the characters. My friend used it with her then 3 year old. He was scared to death of the characters, but wanted autographs. By the second day he was hugging and going up to the characters on his own

1st trip to wdw in May. This sound like fun for my boys 4 and 3. Is there any way to purchase the autograph book prior to arriving? Would like to have it already in the backpack ready to go.

Thanks again!

I did kind of the same thing. I bought a 8 x 10 blank mat to have Cinderella autograph and I put the photo of her with DD in it on the wall in her room. She signed it and wrote "may all your dreams come true"

When we went last year, my DS6 & DS7 had autograph books. I gave them each their own book and their special autograph pen (color coordinated to their favorite colors). I then made sure to take a picture of them getting their autographs and made sure the characters only signed one side of the page; no character signed the back of a page a previous characater had signed. I then made Disney scrapbooks for each of my boys. I took apart the autograph book and encorporated the signature with the picture I took of them getting the autograph. They love these books and get looked at a lot more than a traditonal autograph book.

Good luck and have fun.

My DD who is 3 loved it!! At first, she didn't really understand but then she was hooked after the first autograph and loved to get her book signed. We bought two (princess and gold) and when we came home I printed pictures for beside each autograph and she still loves to look through her autograph book.

I think it is a good idea. Even if your child may not seem into it, once you get home and put pictures in it, it would give them something special to remember their trip and show others.

An autograph book is even more special when you make one yourself. My then 6y/o and I created his first autograph book. When we took our then 1y/o to Disney for the 1st time, we had fun making his book as well. Making your own book may cost about the same (or maybe a bit more) but it's definitely worth it 'cause it's an "original" and many of the characters made a big fuss over my son's books. :)

My granddaughter was almost 4 when she went to DWorld with us bringing her autograph book along.
Funny thing was is she didn't understand the "character" thing and wound up asking any old body in the parks for their autographs.

The response of the kind park guests to her sweet little request for their autographs made our week........everyone gladly signed her book as if they were stars in their own right! :rotfl2:

Definitely have your little one bring an autograph book but don't be surprised if she wants to color pictures or do other things with it. LOL

My 4 year old daughter loved getting all of the autographs last May. Before our WDW trip she didn't like to get too close to any dressed up charactors (like Santa or the Easter Bunny). It really helped to have her go up and interact with all of the castmembers...now she's hooked and can't wait to sit on Santa's lap this xmas.
